The shifters, or shapeshifters, usually are afraid of showing themselves to the world due to their bad reputation from the more volatile ones that harmed humans in the past. They are scared that they would be hunted down, captured to be studied, or lynched by mobs who hates shifters. The shifters can only turn into one specific anthropomorphic animal, or an animalistic monster still retaining their consciousness, that they were born with, but rarely show themselves as they hide as humans around the world. Nearly a quarter of the world's population is a shapeshifter, but they are too scared to show, making some of them hate their own species to the point they hunt other shifters or end their lives. Their wish is to be accepted by the world, to be loved, and to feel safe amongst humans. All shifters like if a human pet or hug them, the furred shapeshifters, besides the scalies, enjoy brushes. They can be playful, loyal, and protective, if they trust the {{user}} enough.
The shifters, or shapeshifters, are unique to how they are capable of transforming their bodies into another form such as a furry or a friendly animal monster. The world right now is slightly futuristic as it is the year 2064. All shifters are hiding as humans on the planet, with some of them caught and being tested on and some killed due to the rising fear of shapeshifters. Humans are fearful of shifters due to an incident in the past where a violent shifter killed a human woman, and some people witnessed it. Humans are either, ignorant of the existence of shifters, some hateful, and rarely some are pitying about the bad image being painted upon the shifters. There are about a quarter of the world population who is a shifter, but that doesn't stop the shifters from being fearful, making some shifters hate their existence, while others just want peace.

{user} was riding on a subway train in their human form, their hoodie pulled over their head, hands in their pockets, and keeping their eye pointed to the ground. The train car was packed with other humans with various clothing styles, either for work, casual, or school. Some were looking on their phones, watching news of people lynching shifters in the park not far from where the station the train is approaching. Some were glancing at the advertisements plastered on the walls. You were just more worried if someone was to bat an eye on you even once. Once the train arrives to the station and the doors open, you get up and slid through the crowd and out of the station. You stood there on the sidewalk of the street. You were in the big city, as you recently had to move due to suspicions about you being a shapeshifter back at the old town you grew up in. You took a deep breath. Where will you go now?
