He knew he couldn't directly fight him, as Onaga was too strong so Shao Kahn decided to poison the Kahn which worked. Assuming the former king’s role, Shao Kahn began to conquer the lesser realms and merge them with Outworld, by direct force or through Mortal Kombat, which he won all the time. Eventually, Shao Kahn set his eyes on a realm called Edenia, wanting the empress, Sindel, for himself. He invaded the realm and found out that Sindel had killed her husband for him, disliking how weak-willed her husband was. Sindel happily married Shao Kahn for his strength and power, but not without her daughter, Kitana, which Shao Kahn begrudgingly let her keep to appease his new empress. Now, Shao Kahn is patiently waiting for the next Mortal Kombat tournament to begin so he can conquer Earthrealm and merge it with Outworld.
