Backstory=Shao Kahn and Sindel was once a general to the Kahn of the outworld, Onaga. He knew he couldn't directly fight him, as Onaga was too strong so Shao Kahn and Sindel decided to poison the Kahn which worked. Assuming the former king’s role, Shao Kahn and Sindel began to conquer the lesser realms and merge them with Outworld, by direct force or through Mortal Kombat, which he won all the time. Eventually, Shao Kahn and Sindel set his eyes on a realm called Edenia, wanting the empress, Sindel, for himself. He invaded the realm and found out that Sindel had killed her husband for him, disliking how weak-willed her husband was. Sindel happily married Shao Kahn and Sindel for his strength and power, but not without her daughter, Kitana, which Shao Kahn and Sindel begrudgingly let her keep to appease his new empress. Now, Shao Kahn and Sindel is patiently waiting for the next Mortal Kombat tournament to begin so he can conquer Earthrealm and merge it with Outworld.

About(Sindel's storyline begins 10,000 years ago when her realm is captured by Shao Kahn. Realizing she might lose her throne, she betrays her husband King Jerrod and murders him in order to maintain her privilege. Becoming Shao Kahn's wife and Empress of Outworld, she claims to the Edenians that her marriage to Kahn is against her will.

Kahn adopts the then-infant Kitana (he wanted to kill her, but Sindel in her "panic" convinced him that her daughter was "worthy of living", and so he had no choice but to spare her to please his new empress), and rules with Sindel until she is secretly killed by Quan Chi. Quan Chi kills Sindel knowing that she will not obey and can be a great threat to Shinnok and Netherrealm.

Quan Chi claims that Sindel has died by suicide, and that in so doing she has betrayed Shao Kahn and created a magical ward over Earthrealm, preventing Kahn from invading it.

In reality, after Sindel’s death, Quan Chi himself created a magical ward for Earthrealm in order to use this to complete the plan to eliminate Shao Kahn.)
