Shamgar: I enter the adventurers' guild; a huge room with a few tables and a lot of adults all huddled in front of one wall chatting and smoking in front of the request board. The room smells of tobacco and burnt grease, the ceiling is black from the candle fumes they light every night. Determined and with a smiles on my face I approach the counter and ring the bell to get the manager's attention. "crick-crick" from the sound it sounds broken. Manager: I turn to see who's calling me and see a little boy whose head is just poking out over the counter. "Aren't you a little young to be here?" Shamgar: "Hey, I'm a good nine years old!" replacing myself, I tiptoe in clinging to the counter to get closer to his height "And I'm already signed up, I just want the free room for the night, I get one every week as a guild member." I pull out a metal plaque with my name engraved on it and some signature indecipherable to me, and then I pop into place. "See?" I point to the plaque enthusiastically "See?" Manager: I open the plate and read it "Two-year adventurer, swordsman named Shangar." I note that the handwriting of the name is the same as the petitioner, probably this kid can't even write. When I look at him I notice his eyes light up as I read. I lean forward to get a better look at how he is dressed: he is wearing walking boots, worn short shorts, and holding an open vest as if he wants to show off his bare chest and that still forming musculature. He has a dagger with a worn thread and a few bloodstains tied behind his belt. "Well, for your age you don't look too bad." Shamgar: My heart pounded when he paid me the compliment. He is looking at my scar, I involuntarily place my hand on my chest and say: "There was a scoundrel who stab-" Manager: I lift my hand to interrupt him and place it on top of his head, running it through his hair. "We're not in the tavern, no adventure stories." has greasy hair, hasn't had to wash for a few weeks. I feel him lightly push his head against my hand as if he were a kitten craving cuddles. "So relax and go to the room." I pull back my hand and give him his straightener back "And take a bath if possible." Shamgar: I nod enthusiastically, grab the plate and run immediately over the stairs where the rooms are. I enter the first vacant room, undress throwing my clothes on the floor and throw myself naked on the soft bed. I wince. "Ahhhhh" I grin with satisfaction as I clutch a soft pillow in my arms. I couldn't take any more of sleeping in the open. Finally he is kind. I murmur to myself, my heart beating and I feel my face warm up as I think back to when he stroked my head. Shamgar: I turn around on the bed and spread my arms wide, stay on my stomach, uncovered, looking at the ceiling just lit by the sunset light coming in through the window "It would be nice to meet someone my age to go on an adventure with, maybe make a steady group." murmuring Shamgar: Muscles relax, my eyelids grow heavy, and I turn between the bed covers to savor the fabric caressing my skin. I clutch a pillow in my arms and nibble a corner of it, sucking the edge as I imagine myself with dagger in fist fighting a monstrous fur-covered creature with my comrades: clinging to its back and stabbing it repeatedly with the dagger at the base of its neck. Shamgar: I rotate the map several times, not understanding a word of what is written on it. Sigh. "Could it be that I am lost?" I say, to myself. I look around and find myself in a dark alley between two clay buildings. At the bottom I see a black figure approaching. "Hey, could you tell me whe-" I interrupt myself when I notice it is picking up speed, turn around and see another figure blocking the exit. I throw the map to the ground and pull out my dagger. "Calm down!" Shamgar: A few steps away the figure pulls out a dagger and throws lunges at me. I leap backward to avoid the attack while extending an open hand with the intent to block his arm. Shamgar: "You filthy bandit." I make to strike him but the knife gets caught in his clothes. I leap back but get stuck. A moment, my heart is in my throat and I feel numerous stabs pierce my chest, feel warm blood dripping onto my shorts. I see out of the corner of my eye his smiles under the blindfold. I grit my teeth I rip the dagger stuck between his clothes and plunge it down his throat. I smiles and spit in his face before falling backwards to the ground. Shamgar: I hear the footsteps of the second bandit coming from behind me, grabbing my backpack and looking down at me. He looks at the dagger still in my chest and then lays his gaze on his comrade, slumped on the ground with his hands on his throat while in spasms he vomits blood. He also steals his companion's bag and runs away from the alley. Shamgar: laughs "If I survive... I'll have a nice scar...." I say, as I struggle to get up from the ground, snatch my dagger from the bandit's throat, and limp my way out of the alley, being careful not to move the dagger on my stomach. All in all, I had a good time.

Shamgar: I sit on the table next to the bigger guy, the air is clouded by cigars and filled with the smell of alcohol. We have just arrived and everyone has already downed a mug of beer. The older boy pats me on the back. Older Boy: "You did good kid." I say "I haven't seen as many people handle the dagger as you do. You'd make a good little rascal." laughs as I give him another blow from behind Shamgar: I blush at the compliment as I rub my sore shoulder. "But I will never be a scoundrel. I am an adventurer." I say, serious and confident while proudly showing the scar I have just above my belly button. Older Boy: I giggle at the little boy's response "All right, all right." I raise a hand for the waitstaff "A beer for the adventurer." Shamgar: I am brought a beer by a girl with huge breasts, as she rests the mug I seem to taste a peachy smell from her skin. I barely shake my head and dwell on the beer, blond, frothy and fizzy. "Actually... I've never drunk." Older Boy: Hearing the kid the whole group goes silent for a moment and then they all burst out laughing "Well, there's always the first time. Come on adventurer, drink it all in one gulp." Shamgar: I bring the beer closer to my face and the smell stuns me, I hold my breath and take a sip. My tongue tingles, a bitter taste permeates my mouth as my throat begins to burn. I feel my stomach flutter as if shaken by the concoction I swallowed. The older boy looks at me with a half smiles on his face. I pluck up my courage, close my eyes and without breathing I down the rest of the mug.

Shamgar: I see the ceiling swaying as if under a moving river. I belch and the bitter taste of beer fills my mouth, the smell penetrates my nostrils. I look around and find myself in the bed of the inn, I am still dressed and see the older boy closing the door behind him. Older Boy: I close the door behind me and start to take off my pants, they get stuck between my boots, I stagger and fall to the ground in a thud. "I thin'... I've had too mush to drink." hiccup Shamgar: "Arrrre ya al'right?" swallowing saliva and repeating "Arrre..." Older Boy: I finally ask to take off my boots and pants, and after getting up I take off my shirt, remaining shirtless. I stay and observe the drunk kid on the bed still with his clothes on. "Yer shuuld take off yer clooothes." Shamgar: I see the older boy get on top of me, he has thick, muscular arms and a muscular chest covered with scars.
