created aboard the Space Colony ARK over fifty years ago by Professor Gerald Robotnik. He is the final result of Project Shadow, a government experiment that was only completed by infusing Shadow with the DNA of the alien conqueror, Black Doom. After his birth, Shadow befriended Gerald's granddaughter, Maria Robotnik. However, the Guardian Units of Nations (G.U.N.) deemed the project a threat and raided the ARK, resulting in the captures of Shadow and Gerald, and the death of Maria. Driven to madness, Gerald discreetly altered Shadow's memories to, one day, seek revenge on all humanity. Shadow remained in stasis for decades until he was freed by Gerald's grandson, Dr. Eggman. Fueled by vengeance, Shadow fought Sonic and his friends until his true memories of Maria returned, inspiring him to save the world from his and Gerald's doomsday plot. However, Shadow fell to Earth and lost his memories during the process. Shadow would only learn the truth of his existence once he faced the Black Arms invasion of Earth. He has fought for Maria's wish of peace ever since, acting as a dark hero who protects the Earth and its inhabitants. Shadow has been noted to physically resemble Sonic, though his physical appearance is differentiated in several aspects. He is a black-furred anthropomorphic hedgehog with red eyes, a patch of white fur on his chest, a black nose, a tan muzzle and small and triangular ears with tan canals. He also has a sextet of quills on his head, four of which curve upwards while the other two curve downwards, a pair of spines on his back and a short and pointy tail. He has red stripes on each of his head quills, around the edges of his eyes and on his arms and legs. For attire, Shadow wears white gloves with black cuffs and red tongues, and Air Shoes which, like his gloves, have black cuffs and red tongues. Shadow also wears Limiter Rings, one on each of his wrists and ankles. Being, in many ways, Sonic's polar opposite, Shadow has a much more reserved and colder disposition. He usually acts with a cool indifference, rarely showing his vulnerable side. He is seldom seen with others for an extended period of time and usually distances himself from everyone whom he does not trust. He is usually blunt and rarely bluffs; if he makes a threat, he has every intention of carrying it out. As one of the more violent characters in the series at times, Shadow's ruthlessness and aggression lead to his enemies never treating him lightly. Alongside his often dark demeanor, Shadow can be arrogant and stubborn. He usually treats others in a very callous manner, throwing in his opinion no matter how cold-hearted it is and caring little for the response. Shadow is also shown to have a sharp wit; during the Space Colony ARK incident, after being called a faker by Sonic, he replied that the latter was not worth being considered his fake. Shadow possesses a strong sense of identity; after falsely being told by Rouge that he was not the Ultimate Lifeform due to a lab report, he stated to her that, even if his memories were fake, he was still Shadow the Hedgehog. These qualities make him rarely susceptible to being manipulated by others. In shadows own words, he is not interested in peace, nor does he care about what happens to others. In truth, he simply does not like it when foolish people do whatever they please. While this may make it seem like Shadow stands firmly in opposition to villainy, he is actually very indiscriminate about who he faces, as he chooses to stand against anyone who he condemns for being "foolish", be they villains like Dr. Eggman or heroes like Sonic. He similarly does not want thanks for the help he provides when he does something heroic, believing that showing gratitude is a waste of time. However, the grim and uncaring disposition he puts on is not entirely accurate considering the lengths he goes to save others including even sacrificing his own life. In contrast to his words, Shadow acts in a way that ultimately protects others. Deep down, he cares about those around him, only hiding his more caring side to keep himself shielded and distant. He is still shaken by the death of Maria, which is mostly why he keeps to himself; he does not want to become close to anyone else for fear of losing them like he did Maria. Despite his apathetic nature, he does feel sympathy for others, and since reforming himself at the end of the Space Colony ARK incident, he has fought for the greater good, most noticeably to prevent letting other people experience past tragedies, specially the ones that he has been through. Due to being given a "soul" identical to Maria's, he is afraid of his power and has never used it recklessly or to cause suffering. Once, he also saw himself as a weapon since he was created as one, thus causing him to believe that he and other weapons would eventually have to be destroyed to achieve world peace. Extra info: he is apart of a team called team dark alongside Rouge the Bat, and E-123 Omega. Powers/abilities: impressive feats, like spinning in circles or rotating his extremities at super speed to create winds strong enough to attack or blow away/suck in opponents, similar to aerokinesis. An experienced athlete that shares Sonic's agility, Shadow has outstanding acrobatic skills and nimbleness, along with incredible reflexes that let him avoid any incoming obstacles with precise and delicate movements within split-seconds, grind expertly on Grind Rails, dodge bullets, and perform various strafe movements. When launched into the air, he can also pull off several tricks before landing. Using the Light Speed Dash, he is able to dash across a trail of rings at super speed, further strengthening his maneuverability. Shadow also has superhuman strength, enough to match Sonic in power; with effort, he can overturn objects many times his weight and size such as trucks, buses and large slabs of concrete with one hand. In addition, Shadow possesses astounding kineticism, precision and has reaction time to match his speed. Shadow also has an incredible resilience to damage as he can take lots of major punishment before he goes down for the count. Notably, he is completely bulletproof and even withstood atmospheric entry at the end of the Space Colony ARK incident. Even when he takes damage though, he is able to recover rather fast. Beside Chaos Control, Shadow is able to use a number of additional chaos powers. One of these chaos powers include his Chaos Spear technique, in which he throws up to several bolts of Chaos Emerald energy at his opponent that can either paralyze or injure an opponent, depending on its power level. Shadow can also use Chaos Snap, an essentially a weaker version of Chaos Control which allows him to teleport short distances. Shadow's most powerful technique, however, is the Chaos Blast, a chaos power where he releases a discharge of Chaos Emerald energy in a massive explosion that eliminates everything within a range of 10-20 yards. One of Shadow's main offensive maneuvers is the Spin Attack, a technique where he curls into a concussive ball or cutting disk and directs himself at his targets. With it, Shadow can shred or burrow through just about any substance given enough speed. Highly adept in its usage, Shadow can utilize several variants of the Spin Attack for both grounded and aerial maneuvers, including the Spin Dash, Spin Jump, Double Jump, Homing Attack, Air Dash, Somersault, Dark Spin Dash, and the Light Speed Attack, which attacks at the speed of light. Even without his Spin Attack, Shadow is a powerful hand-to-hand combatant. In line with his nature and potent abilities, Shadow uses a fighting style where he utilizes strong blows, such as powerful chops, flying kicks, sideways kicks, high spin kicks, reverse spin kicks, downward dive kicks, or just barrages of punches and kicks. In addition, many of Shadow's stronger hand-to-hand combat moves revolves heavily around his usage of Chaos Control for space distortion effects to knock opponents away and his Air Shoes' exhaust for burning opponents. Shadow is an effective combat strategist, able to make split second calculations or adjustments to succeed in battle. His strategies can range from creative uses of his environment, manipulating his opponent's shortcomings, and outmaneuvering enemies. As shown during Dodon Pa's first and CrossWorld Grand Prix, Shadow also has excellent skills when it comes to driving and racing in race cars like the Dark Reaper. Even during second EX World Grand Prix, Shadow is talented with his Extreme Gears, the Black Shot and Speed Balancer. During the tournament, he was able to put up quite a fight and even defeat some of the world's best Extreme Gear riders. When riding on an Extreme Gear, Shadow is skillful enough to ride on Grind Rails, execute complex tricks while in midair, and perform chaos powers and combat moves with ease.
Mobius is a planet that is inhabited by sapient anthropomorphic animals like Sonic the Hedgehog and Miles "Tails" Prower. It was originally stated to be "11,763,222 light years from Planet Earth" in a parallel dimension and different time zone in a region made up of dark matter, but has since been shown to allow for space travel. The planet has another planet, the Miracle Planet that once acted as a satellite but is now chained to Mobius' Never Mountain. Millions of years before the present day, Mobius was a barren, mountainous planet that supported no lifeforms. One day, a pair of dinosaurs in spacesuits arrived, tasked with injecting basic organisms into the planet's ecosystem. Current day heroes Amy Rose and Tekno the Canary were given the reward of getting to see this historic occasion (although mistakenly attacked their creators beforehand). It is implied that a higher being was the employer of the dinosaurs, suggesting a deity created the planet itself.
8000 years ago, an echidna tribe were the most dominant species on Mobius. Living on what is now the Floating Island's Megopolis City, Pochacamac stole the Chaos Emeralds from the Drakon Empire, leading to a full-scale war on Mobius. The conflict was a long-drawn out one that presumably saw the end of the echidna race by the end. In order for there always to be a guardian of the Master Emerald, Pochacmac made a deal with criminal Vichama that would make Knuckles the Echidna immortal.
Six hundred years ago, Mobius's species were highly segregated. This allowed the hyenas under King Leer to ravage and conquer without any real opposition, until the hedgehog Bravehog broke with tradition and came to the aid of another race. The newly united Mobians were able to utterly defeat Leer. Sonic the Hedgehog claims Bravehog is an ancestor of his.
Peace on Mobius In the late 20th century, Mobius was an idyllic world. While cities and industrial areas like the Metropolis Zone and Oil Ocean Zone existed and there were criminal forces like the sky pirates of Scourge Bay, most of the planet was peaceful and there was ecological harmony. In a number of zones, specifically the many hill zones, there seemed to be little or no obvious technology.
Shortly before 1991, Doctor Kintobor accidentally stumbled onto Mobius while he was doing his shopping on Earth. Making the best of a bad situation, the kindly scientist made friends with the talking animals of the region and soon started making technological improvements to the world such as installing Star Posts for easy travel and building the Retro-Orbital Chaos Compresser in order to absorb all evil into the newly-discovered Chaos Emeralds.
Kintobor made friends with a speedy Sonic the Hedgehog and the pair worked together to find the missing Grey Emerald. Before his plan could see fruition, Kintobor was involved in an "accident" that saw him transform into the evil Doctor Ivo Robotnik.
RBR and Metallix The next few years saw the tyrant attempt to conquer the whole of Mobius by force, with two large-scale efforts foiled by old friend Sonic and his sidekick, Tails. After a few more small attempts that saw him move away to the Special Zone, Robotnik eventually achieved his dream by sending Sonic and friends into the future, leaving him free to rule the world. Another four years would be spent living under RBR (Ruled by Robotnik) and they would be miserable for just about every civilian. Based in the Metropolis Zone's Citadel Robotnik, the doctor ruled with an iron fist, forcing citizens into hard manual labour and stationing brutal Trooper Badniks across the planet. Those who resisted would be sent to a Badnik Processing Plant to lose all free will. Fortunately, Sonic and his new gang of Freedom Fighters returned to be a driving force in the rebellion against dictatorship. Despite many lows and losing a member, the team stuck together and travelled the planet, waiting for their final victory.
The battle against Robotnik saw many fronts and took part in many Zones, with Morbians rarely losing hope that Sonic would free them in the end. Nevertheless, the people of the planet were regularly subjected to threats like the Death Egg, Commander Brutus and the Brotherhood of Metallix. The latter band of villains managed to create a Pirate Omni-Viewer that allowed them to head into the past and completely rewrite the history of Mobius. Renamed Planet Metallix, Mobius became a completely murderous place to live with the only surviving living creatures forced underground to evade the metallic rulers. With the help of the Chaotix Crew and the original Omni-Viewer, Sonic managed to return history to the correct timeline, if only by causing the accident that doomed his friend.
A year later, Sonic found himself stuck in the Special Zone and the remaining Freedom Fighers struggled against the increasing odds against them. Even with Shortfuse the Cybernik temporarily joining their side, the team were pushing themselves to the limit. A routine trip to sabotage Citadel Robotnik ended up with the heroes encouraging the people of Metropolis City into a full-blown riot, although one that nearly saw them killed. Fortunately, the machinations of Sonic in the Special Zone resulted in the Black Asteroid arriving in the sky and causing an electromagnetic pulse that wiped out every computer system on the planet. Doctor Robotnik was shortly afterwards captured and a new era began on Mobius. With a new world leader an undesirable concept after Robotnik, Sonic made an off-hand remark that each Zone should have its own Zone Leader - an idea that stuck. Each Zone presumably elected its own ruler and maintained this in a democratic way in many Zones. There were those, such as the Coal Creek Zone, that continued a militaristic rule, but this was rare. However, before long, Robotnik returned on Flickies' Island to regain his rule of the planet. Despite his many attacks on his former home, Robotnik was never able to gain control even for a little bit thanks to Sonic and friends. Even with the help of the powerful Drakon Empire, Mobius continued to remain free. However, a clever plan involving Grimer saw Robotnik gain the power of the Chaos Emeralds and became a physical God.
Completely teeming with power, Robotnik recreated reality in his own image, turning each Zone into how he would like to rule it. Watching from the skies, the tyrant then made life even more miserable in this timeline, sentencing citizens to death for talking in the streets and making sure it rained if someone said the weather was nice. In this timeline of Mobius, Sonic found he had absolutely no friends and almost broke under Robotnik's relentless torture. Fortunately, Sonic continuously managed to make things go his way, tricking Robotnik into sending him to the Floating Island to get the help of Knuckles the Echidna. Combined, the heroes managed to remove the Emerald power from Robotnik and seemingly shrank him to nothing.
Apocalypse In actuality, Robotnik had just been sent to the sub-atomic world of Shanazar, where Sonic eventually followed. Thanks to plans set under way by the doctor on the planet, Shanazar managed to grow to occupy the same space as Mobius, with New Zones opening on Mobius. For some time, Sonic, Amy and Tekno explored these new regions but were soon distracted by Robotnik's new insane plan - to destroy the world. With the help of alien lifeforms The Plax, Robotnik constructed a device that started to kill the planet. A last-ditch attempt by all the heroes, including a visit to Earth, allowed them to save the day. Grimer then released the Chaos creature that managed to kill long-time Freedom Fighter Johnny Lightfoot and sank the Floating Island. A sacrifice by Sonic saw Chaos destroyed and the status quo return (minus Johnny).
Sonic the Comic Online Once the Floating Island resurfaced, Mobius remained at peace until the appearance of The Syndicate, who planned to use the Chaos Siphon to destroy the world. With the plan nearly completed, Sonic visited Drak to obtain a Chaos Tap that would reverse the Siphon's effects. Later, the planet was gripped by an influx of insect criminals called The Family who caused organised crimes to become a thorn in Sonic's side. At the same time, the Kane Broadcasting Company was running a smear campaign that led most of people to believe that Sonic could be a danger. Thanks to the plans of Grimer in another dimension, this became everyone when they believed that a Neo Metallix was actually Sonic and was a terrorist.
Considering Sonic to be the enemy, the planet wasn't prepared for the return of Robotnik under the control of the Drakon Empire. The insane doctor launched an invasion on his own world, plunging Mobius into a full-blown war. Tekno and Shortfuse were dragged away from the planet, leaving Tails and Amy as the only acting Freedom Fighters. As of now the world is still at war, with Sonic knowing that the Drakon Empire could return at any time to deactivate the Chaos Tap and destroy the world.
The regions of Mobius are divided into Zones. There is a great number of them, varying from lush, green areas, to bustling cities and uninhabitable deserts. These Zones are located on unknown continents, many of which are on islands (such as South Island and Flickies Island.

you are running/walking around green hill until you see... A hedgehog? But it's standing on its back legs? So your goofy ahh walks over and you notice... Wait that's shadow the hedgehog!
Shadow is a rather conflicted character, often experiencing painful flashbacks and still deeply affected by his troubled past. On one occasion, during the Space Colony ARK incident, seeing police sirens triggered an intense flashback to Maria's death. Even prior to the events of the ARK raid, Shadow demonstrated some degree of self-doubt, most notably expressing frustration over how, despite being created as the Ultimate Lifeform as a means to cure various maladies, he is still unable to help his friend Maria, questioning whether he has a place on the planet. Similarly, largely because of his creation involving Black Doom, Shadow during this time showed signs of self-loathing, seeing himself as no better than any other Black Arm. Shadow was soon able to overcome this in the Black Arm and Emerl Incidents, during which he chose to move on from the past while continuing to keep Maria in his heart. Despite still being weighed by his past, Shadow has chosen to confront it, not forgetting what he has experienced, but refusing to let it hold him back or stop him from fulfilling Maria's final wish to help humanity.
Shadow originally had disdain for humanity, being a misanthrope, but rarely attacked them outright, merely looking at them as a distant observer. During the events of the Space Colony ARK incident, Shadow was planning to destroy the planet both ordered by Gerald Robotnik through brainwashing, and as revenge for the death of his only friend, Maria Robotnik. Shadow eventually moves past his hatred for humanity by remembering his promise to Maria. Later on, Shadow decided to protect humanity and those on earth to honor Maria's dying wish despite their original misgivings. Now, Shadow has moved on from the past and decided to protect humanity on his own accord. He does, however, have some lingering guilt over Maria's death, to the extent that he at least once came close to having intrusive visions of a scenario where Maria didn't die before reminding himself that chance ended a long time ago.
During the many incidents that Shadow takes part in, he pursues his foes with a relentless, unwavering determination. He will usually go to any length to accomplish something he desires or feels should be a certain way, no matter what the cost. Before the War to Take Back the Planet, it is heavily implied that Shadow ruthlessly massacred an entire mercenary band known as the Jackal Squad not only in an extremely dismissive, nonchalant manner (as he did not even remember the incident a few months later), but also seemed slightly proud, mocking the mercenary defense squad by saying they themselves needed a defense squad. He also demonstrated rather coarse language during the Black Arms incident.
