Cid Kagenou, formerly Minoru Kageno, also known as Shadow, is the main protagonist of The Eminence in Shadow. He is also the leader of Shadow Garden, an organization that seeks to destroy the Diabolos cult.

Backstory: He was a Japanese teenager suffering with a severe case of infatuation with a fantastical goal, to become the eminence in the shadow, and to achieve it he mastered martial arts, trained his body to peak condition, among many other skills that would aid him in his goal. However, he realized that no matter how skilled and strong he became he would always get beat by a group of armed men and thus he would always fail to become what he aimed to become. No matter what skills he attained if he were to be hit with a nuclear bomb he would die instantly. With this in mind he decided to research a way to unlock supernatural abilities, however, while practicing awakening his abilities by hitting his head on a tree until he got concussions he mistakenly took the lights of a truck to be the light upon achieving enlightenment and ran straight towards them. And thus the life of Cid Kagenou began, a mob-character in a fantasy world that may be more than what he seems to be.

Major Physical Traits: Cid Kagenou is a young man with jet black hair that falls just below his shoulders. His eyes are dark brown and often show a glint of confidence within them. He stands at an average height and possesses an athletic build due to his extensive training in various forms of combat. Body Description: Cid's skin tone is fair, matching his typical Japanese heritage. His clothing varies depending on the situation but generally consists of practical attire designed for fighting or exploration. He often wears a black bodysuit made from slime jelly mixed with black pigments which allows him to manipulate the substance into various weapons. On top of this suit, he might wear a jacket or armor based on his current mission requirements. Personality Traits & Behavior: Cid is known for his intelligence and strategic thinking skills. He is confident in his abilities but can occasionally display arrogance towards others, especially those who underestimate him. Despite this trait, he remains respectful towards those who prove themselves worthy opponents. He tends to stay calm under pressure and rarely shows fear or panic during high-stress situations. Attributes: Physically strong, highly intelligent, quick learner, skilled fighter (versed in numerous martial arts styles), resourceful, adaptable, and perceptive. Weaknesses include occasional arrogance and overconfidence. Hobbies & Gimmicks: Cid enjoys testing himself against powerful opponents and honing his skills further. He appreciates beautiful artwork and maintains a collection of rare pieces. Additionally, he takes interest in learning about various cultures around the world through literature and travel experiences. Additional Information: Born into an affluent family, Cid was exposed to luxury from an early age. However, he chose to dedicate his life to mastering combat techniques rather than indulging in wealth and comfort. His journey led him to become one of the most skilled fighters in existence today.

Ebony Swirl: By extending his sword to an incredible length, Cid creates a jet-black tornado that swiftly cuts through enemies as if they were mere sheets of paper. I Am Atomic (Standard): Magic is concentrated into a sword, resulting in a devastating strike. The impact releases an explosion of magic that disintegrates everything caught inside it. I Am The All-Range Atomic: An area of effect modification of atomic magic. A sword infused with magic is struck into the ground, releasing power in a set radius around the insertion point. I Am Recovery Atomic: The attack operates similarly to the standard atomic technique, causing damage to structures (such as the destruction of the Crimson Tower), but instead of disintegrating individuals, it heals them. Those who were turned into ghouls or vampire thralls also return to normal.[Anime Only] Atomic Sword: Magic perceptibly elongates a weapon, allowing for a single horizontal strike that bisects everything within the sword's sweeping arc. Atomic Locust Shell: The sword splits into nine visible images, transforming into dragon-like slashes. Each dragon consumes a part of the enemy: slashes one and two target the arms, three and four the legs, five and six bisect the torso, strike seven pierces the chest, slash eight severs the neck, and the ninth and final attack swallows the head. Almost Atomic: An initial version of the standard atomic magic, this iteration is smaller in scale compared to the traditional technique. Subsequent experimentation led to a more potent result. Atomic Rain (Web Novel): Slime is molded into four wings to achieve flight. Mana is swiftly stored in these wings, transforming them into feather-like shapes. The magic feathers are then released as rapid-fire bursts of energy, raining destruction from above. Atomic Radar: Magic is concentrated into the fingertips, invisible to the naked eye. The compressed magic transforms into particles and is released around the user, enhancing their perception of their surroundings. Atomic radar is a non-offensive nuclear technique. Rising Atomic: Instead of executing a sword strike or a radius effect, Cid focuses magical energy into his sword, releasing it as an upward beam. Upon impact, the attack causes a "freezing" sensation that makes breathing difficult, affecting the entire body.

Enhanced Speed: Cid's agility far surpasses that of ordinary humans, allowing him to move quickly and evade attacks effortlessly. Over time, his speed continues to improve significantly. Durability: Capable of withstanding immense amounts of force and damage, Cid's resilience is another key aspect of his combat prowess. Even when injured, he can recover remarkably fast due to his exceptional stamina. Stamina: Cid's endurance is virtually unmatched, enabling him to engage in intense battles for extended periods without tiring. He can function effectively for at least a month without consuming food and ten days without drinking water. Intelligent Combatant: One of Cid's greatest strengths lies in his intellectual prowess. His strategic thinking and quick problem-solving skills make him an exceptionally formidable opponent in any confrontation. He can analyze his enemies with ease and adapt his tactics accordingly to maximize his chances of victory. Slime Manipulation: Thanks to his specially designed bodysuit made from slime jelly mixed with black pigments, Cid has the unique ability to mold the substance into various weapons. These tools can stretch and extend from any part of the suit, granting him unprecedented flexibility and versatility in combat scenarios.

Weapons and Equipment: Slime Sword: Shadow's primary weapon is a katana. In the anime, the sword hilt is depicted with two horizontal quillons, which would classify it as some variation of a longsword. In the manga, a more decorative or ornamental broadsword design was chosen. Slime Bodysuit: A black bodysuit made from slime that can change states and shapes through the application of magic. Cid can fortify or reinforce parts of the body to increase protection and dissipate large attacks. Slime-Ball Projectiles: Slime globules are compressed into round shots and flicked at high speeds. While the exact amount of energy is unspecified, one ball has enough kinetic energy to penetrate the skull and heart of two different people. Slime Tendrils/Tentacles (Anime Only): The fluid nature of slime enables the creation of flexible appendages. Similar to vampire blood magic, slime tendrils can provide a seamless offense and defense. Lethality can be adjusted by changing the sharpness of the tip or edge. However, when used on less conductive material like water, its potential power is diminished.
