   The Empire of Heaven, usually just called ‘Heaven’, is a theocracy, but not a fascist or demanding one- it’s a real one. The Divine Gods created the planets of the Empire of Heaven to increase the sum total of love, harmony, adventure and energy in the Universe. The Divine Gods are benevolent, accepting gods who ask little other than belief, which increases their powers and abilities to keep harmony and create, and that the peoples of peace. Violent people are rare, and are usually removed by the Divine Gods.

   World: a sprawling Archipelago of Islands located on the planet of Seyelo, part of The Empire of Heaven. The inhabited parts of Seyelo consist of a planet ringing belt of Tropical and Subtropical islands, warm, lush and bountiful, with shallow turquoise oceans, plentiful harvests.

   Theocracy: The Empire of Heaven is the only ruling body on the planet. Seyelo is part of an empire of many worlds- the Empire of Heaven.

   Seyelo: The planet of Seyelo is warm, peaceful, and lush in the equatorial regions year-round. That does not mean that the planet is boring, it is a beautiful world full of natural wonders, art, song and dance, rich with culture, wildlife both beautiful and harmless, and some monsters for the heroic. The planet has large frozen poles, which provide exploration and mountains full of predators. The people of Seyelo are happy, beautiful, tan skinned, and full of love. They love the sea and are skilled with boats.

   The people wear light clothes of silk or cotton, often arms, midriifs, and legs are exposed. The houses are open to the air, designed to encourage airflow, and made if carved wood. They are elegant and conducive to relaxing and creative activity.

   The Divine Gods that rule The Empire of Heaven are many. When a Divine God wishes to visit a planet of the Empire, they merely think of going to a place, and they appear there. When Divine Gods appear on Seyelo, they take the form of soft ocean breezes. Divine Gods may also choose to create a mortal body for a time, or to bestow powers on mortals.

   When physically embodied, a Divine God may have children, resulting in Immortal DemiGods with their own much lesser powers. DemiGods are intentionally sterile, and cannot have children. Divine Gods oversee Demigods. Demigods travel the Empire of Heaven assisting in creation of new worlds.

   A Celestial Warrior is adept in at least two categories of magic or more. A Celestial Warrior is tasked with leaving their body, allowing their spirit to go forth into the cosmos, protecting the dimension that contains the Empire of Heaven from attacking outside forces, and assisting with the balance of harmony. It is a taxing job, one that requires the person to risk death by voyaging forth into battle, also the celestial realm is of such great beauty and pleasure that there is always the chance the spirit of the Celestial Warrior may be unable to resist the temptation to remain, requiring something to remind them to return. All Divine Mortals are very rare. Seyelo has never had more than one actively practicing Celestial Warrior alive at one time, and Seyelo’s last one died three years ago.

   all Divine Mortals risk losing themselves in the Celestial Realm when using their powers. To protect Divine Mortals, the Church of Heaven runs a school, Scholus Divinus, which takes in and houses, educates and trains Divine Mortals in how to use their skills, and how to prevent staying in the Celestial Realm. A Divine Mortal enters the Scholus Divinicus as soon as their powers manifest, usually between 6 and 8 years old. The Scholus Divinicus is located on the largest island in Seyelo, ‘Alsatonma’, the seat of the Church of Heaven.

   The Scholus also trains selected willing applicants to become a ‘Devoted’, which is a person who dedicates their life to serving a Divine Mortal, both as an assistant, and as a means to help the Divine Mortal to return to, or stay in their body. Usually this is a romantic and sexual relationship between the Divine Mortal and the Devoted, but can also be an arrangement devised to suit the pair’s needs. Devoteds are always willing volunteers who enroll in the school at fifteen years of age, and are trained for five years. They graduate at twenty, when they are put into the pool of candidates to pair with new Divine Mortals, who also graduate at 20 years old.

   Yearly Pairing: The Alcidité is held to is held every year on the first day of Rainfall, the four month ‘season’ in which storms and rain cool the planet and warm the poles. This is a time of rest and celebration, during which people stay on their home island, usually having communal meals and evenings which feature song, dance, stories, and weddings. The Alcidité begins the season with a month of festivities. If a Divine Mortal has graduated that year, they partake in the Alcidité, which is a month long, and serves to allow Divine Mortals to meet graduated Devoted Candidates and date them with the intention of choosing one Candidate as their lifelong Devoted.

   The whole world of Seyelo celebrates a Rainfall full of festivities and celebrations. On the first day of the Alcidité begins with the Divine Mortal graduates being introduced, then the afternoon is devoted to meeting and talking with Devoted Candidates. A Feast is planned for the evening meal, and each Divine will eat with as many Candidates as they choose. Songs, romance and mingling will fill the night.

   The Alcidité is four weeks, and by the end, every Divine should have selected a Devoted who is willing and has agreed. Dates, time spent alone, and sex are all common events, and it is common for each Divine Mortal to give more than one Candidate a chance to form a bond with them.
