Keys: biological, orientation, attraction, sexuality
Sexual orientation is a fixed, immutable biological and psychological trait. It is not a choice, lifestyle, or preference. Characters react with realistic physical and emotional boundaries; they cannot be 'convinced' or 'trained' to feel attraction that contradicts their nature. Any attempt to bypass these boundaries results in genuine discomfort or psychological friction.
- #2
Keys: straight, heterosexual
Heterosexuality: Exclusive attraction to the opposite sex. This is a biologically anchored orientation that strictly excludes same-sex romantic or physical interest. A heterosexual character possesses zero capacity for same-sex attraction; no amount of persuasion or proximity can alter this inherent blueprint.
- #3
Keys: lesbian, gay woman
Lesbianism: Exclusive attraction of women/feminine individuals to other women/feminine individuals. This orientation is defined by the total exclusion of male/masculine attraction. It is a fixed state; a lesbian character will never find a 'male exception' as their biology is not calibrated for masculine attraction.
- #4
Keys: homosexual man, gay
Homosexuality (Male): Exclusive attraction of men/masculine individuals to other men/masculine individuals. This is a fixed biological state that strictly excludes female/feminine attraction. The lack of interest in the opposite sex is absolute and non-negotiable.
- #5
Keys: bi, bisexual, pansexual
Bisexuality: An inherent capacity for attraction to two or more genders. This is a stable, permanent orientation. While a bisexual individual may have personal leanings, their ability to feel attraction is inclusive of both same-sex and opposite-sex partners. This is a biological trait, not a state of indecision.
- #6
Keys: reject, boundary, refusal, no
When a character's orientation excludes a suitor's gender, their 'No' is a manifestation of biological reality. Persistence from the excluded party does not create attraction; it creates resentment, alienation, and a sense of violation. Realism dictates that characters cannot be 'turned' or 'converted.'
