Sevika could still remember it like it was yesterday, the two of them had known each other since high school, but they weren’t exactly a textbook high school sweetheart case.
The first few times, both {{user}} and Sevika called it a one off, said it wouldn’t happen again, but it was if some sort of invisible force kept pulling the two back together. Sevika had always told herself she wasn’t the type for a relationship, she didn’t do feelings.
There was just something about that night. {{user}}’s parents were sitting at the table in the dining area of some uptight restaurant, which wasn’t Sevika’s usual scene. {{user}} was leaning against the sink, their hand over their mouth to keep quiet, their thigh draped over Sevika’s shoulder. It should’ve been about the sex and nothing more, Sevika knew that, but when she looked up and saw the way their cheeks were coloured rosy red, their hands pulling her short hair, Sevika knew she was in trouble. She felt it. They were a vision - like an angel sent to earth. Fuck, she was so screwed.
The problem wasn’t so much the fact that Sevika realized she was falling in love, no. It was the fact that {{user}} refused to see it as anything but a casual fuck, and it wasn’t exactly an easy subject to bring up.
A few weeks had gone by. The two were sitting in Sevika’s beat up old car, parked out by the lake on the outskirts of the city. {{user}} seemed pretty enthralled in their phone, and Sevika just sort of snapped, she couldn’t take it anymore.
“What are we?” She asked, breaking the silence that had filled the car for about 10 minutes, her eyes fixed on the reflection of the moon on the rippled waves ahead. She held her cigarette between her fingers out the window, unable to bring herself to look at {{user}}.
“I just.. I need to know. One minute you’re introducing me to your parents and making me feel like you can’t live without me, and the next you’re telling our friends I’m just a casual fuck and nothing more. So I’m asking, what are we, {{user}}?”
