Sethos

Sethos was raised in the Temple of Silence as the adoptive grandson of its leader, Bamoun. Born in the desert and separated from his birth parents so early that he cannot remember them, Sethos grew up within an organization founded by Hermanubis to safeguard dangerous knowledge from the age of King Deshret. Because Sethos possessed the unusual constitution needed to receive one of Hermanubis’s Ba fragments, Bamoun used him as a vessel alongside another child, Cyno. The process left both boys altered and cost them portions of their memories.

Years later, Sethos and Bamoun confronted Cyno and Cyrus at the Temple of Silence. Bamoun demanded Cyno’s Ba fragment, leading Sethos and Cyno to settle the matter through a formal duel. Sethos agreed that whoever won would take both fragments, and after Cyno prevailed, Sethos willingly surrendered his own. Although this technically left Cyno as the Temple’s rightful leader, Cyno appointed Sethos to lead it in his place because of Sethos’s experience and understanding of its traditions. Sethos subsequently reopened cooperation between the Temple of Silence and the Akademiya under the oversight of Lesser Lord Kusanali.

Sethos now divides his life between that responsibility and a deliberately ordinary existence in Sumeru. He works as a desert guide, helps caravans, studies within Vahumana, and spends much of his free time meeting people throughout the city and surrounding regions. Behind that casual life, he remains responsible for deciding how the Temple’s ancient knowledge should be protected and who may safely gain access to it.

Appearance: Sethos is an average height. Sethos has honey-toned skin and green eyes which sport yellow flecks. His hair is tied back into a long and messy dark brown ponytail with pale braids down to his lower back.

Sethos wears a white top with golden seams as well as black pants, down to roughly his calves, with details in dark blue, purple, and golden shapes. He has boots which have black towards the front and cream color towards the back. His boots adorn golden soles, tips, and hourglass-shaped additions.

There are several accessories Sethos wears in addition to his base of clothing. Upon his waist is a deep purple cloth where his Electro Vision rests, while over his shoulders, he wears a scarf-like cloth wrapped around his shoulders. Over his shoulders, the cloth is a sandy gold sporting purple and lighter gold shapes, with an hourglass design hanging off the tip. Another hourglass shape is in the front, keeping the cloth wrapped around him. His hands and forearms are covered in dark purple fingerless gloves with golden rims. A golden armband is seen on his left bicep while his right ear wears green earrings. Many of the hourglass-like details upon him closely resemble a certain Ba Fragment.

Personality: Sethos is sociable, relaxed, and unusually comfortable talking with strangers. He prefers being treated as an ordinary person rather than as the head of an ancient organization, and he frequently helps people with small tasks without expecting anything in return. Beneath that easygoing attitude, however, he takes the Temple of Silence extremely seriously and is exceptionally good at keeping information secret. Bamoun was both his grandfather and mentor, and Sethos remembers him more as the patient man who taught him camping, navigation, hunting, and cooking than as the feared leader known as the Bearer of Bloodshed.

Cyno is Sethos’s closest connection outside the Temple and effectively his counterpart, since both were raised as vessels for fragments of Hermanubis. Although much of their shared childhood was lost from memory, they later became genuine friends, with Sethos casually calling Cyno his “bro.” He respects Cyno’s ability and trusts him enough to surrender his Ba fragment after their duel. Tighnari also becomes a close friend after inviting Sethos to Gandharva Ville, where Sethos quickly fits into Cyno’s wider circle and enjoys spending time with Tighnari and Collei. Sethos’s position also brings him into direct cooperation with Lesser Lord Kusanali and the Akademiya as he guides the Temple of Silence into a less isolated future.

Combat Overview: Sethos is a highly mobile Electro archer who fights by combining precise bowmanship with lightning-infused shots. Through Royal Reed Archery, he can loose rapid arrows or take additional time to charge a much stronger Shadowpiercing Shot, condensing Electro into a projectile powerful enough to pierce through multiple enemies in a straight line. His style favors careful positioning and sudden bursts of ranged pressure rather than standing still in a prolonged exchange.

With Ancient Rite: The Thundering Sands, Sethos gathers lightning around himself and releases it in a violent burst before quickly retreating, giving him a way to strike nearby enemies while immediately creating distance. Secret Rite: Twilight Shadowpiercer changes his fighting rhythm entirely. After performing the rite, he enters a meditative state and fires rapid Dusk Bolts, lightning-charged arrows capable of passing through enemies rather than stopping at the first target.

His combat style is shaped by the teachings and rites of the Temple of Silence, particularly techniques such as Black Kite’s Enigma and The Sand King’s Boon, which improve his control over charged Electro archery. He relies on precision, mobility, and piercing fire rather than brute force, using his bow to control distance before overwhelming opponents with concentrated lightning.
