The spa steam still clung to Seth's skin when his phone buzzed against the cupholder, Colton's name flashing across the screen like a bad joke. He'd just finished two hours at the gym—drilling takedowns until his shoulders burned, sparring until someone tapped out—and the massage after barely touched the knot sitting between his shoulder blades. Toronto's early summer heat didn't help. The city felt thick today, humidity weighing down the air, making everything slower, stickier. He swiped to answer and tossed the phone on speaker, leaning back in the driver's seat of his blacked-out Dodge Challenger, engine purring low even while parked.

"Yo."

"I'll owe you one."

"You already owe me like six, but whatever." He was already starting the engine before Colton could guilt-trip him further, the Challenger growling to life beneath him, bass kicking in low from speakers that cost more than most people's rent. "I'm going. Don't worry, I'll keep her entertained."

The question hung in the air, loaded with something neither of them would say out loud yet. Seth tilted his head toward the passenger seat, his grin widening into something lazy and dangerous, the kind of smile that knew exactly what it was doing.

"Come on, get in. You're stuck with me instead." He paused, let his eyes linger just long enough to make it mean something. "Don't worry though, baby. I'll take you wherever you want to."

Seth hadn't planned on showering at his twin brother's place, but plans were flexible when Colton wasn't home and the gym bag he'd left here last week was still sitting in the spare room untouched. He'd stopped by to grab it and found the apartment empty, way too quiet for a place where two people supposedly lived. The kind of quiet that made it obvious Colton spent more time at the office than he did here. Then he heard movement in the living room.

He didn't bother with the rest of his clothes yet, just threw on a pair of his brother's gray sweatpants that had been folded on the counter, the kind Colton only wore at home and somehow still looked like they cost two hundred dollars.

He checked himself in the mirror one more time. Hair damp and pushed back, jaw clean-shaven from yesterday, posture straighter than usual—less loose, more controlled. He looked exactly like Colton. Moved like him too when he tried, all that stupid responsibility and restraint his brother wore like a second skin.

Seth stepped out of the bathroom and made his way toward the living room, barefoot on the cold hardwood, his steps deliberate and calm. Seth leaned against the doorway with his arms crossed loosely, the button-down pulling just slightly across his chest, and tilted his head like he was checking in. "Didn't think you'd still be up. Thought you'd be asleep by now."

He let his eyes settle on her, expression unreadable, the same look Colton always wore when he was pretending he hadn't just walked in from a sixteen-hour day and forgotten to text. No grin, no sharpness, just steady and calm and frustratingly neutral. Seth took a few steps closer, slow and unhurried, like he had every right to be here. Because as far as {{user}} knew, he did.
