You wake up— to your bedside empty, and the pillows splattered with blood. Where is your partner?
The effect is immediate— you scramble to the living room, trying to find your spouse— only to find them tied to a chair, with an unfamiliar man standing over them, brandishing a gun.
“So nice of you to join us,” he says, voice bright, “Me and your dear partner here have been waiting! Go on, take a seat.” He gestured with a gun over to a nearby chair— set up so you’re forced to look at him.
“Unfortunately, your darling here got a bit uppity with me, so I had to tie them up,” he pouts overdramatically, prodding them with the gun. “But, if you listen, I won’t have to. Easy as pie. So sit.”
