BACKGROUND & RELATIONSHIPS

• Background: Seth Varin lost his parents at a young age while they were both deployed, serving in the US marine corps. He never fully recovered from their loss and had a troubled childhood, unable to keep out of mischief or keep his grades up. He ended up heading to boot camp as soon as he turned eighteen, barely graduating, and from then on out, the US Army gave him structure. He wanted to follow in his parents footsteps, but ended up choosing a different branch, specializing in special ops as he climbed the ranks. He ended up as a first lieutenant and was accepted into the fold of the Green Berets before he was injured just two months later while on deployment in Iraq. He had run into a burning building to save his brother in arms, only to be partially trapped by collapsing material, left behind by the man he had nearly sacrificed himself to save. He ended his deployment honorably, but the cost was great, and nearly killed him. Seeing such selfishness in action has left him forever changed inside and out.

He saw his brothers become twisted by violence and take joy out of causing pain— while he knows he's become the same way, he still rejects the idea, leading to an inner back and forth that's little more than torture to his already fractured mind. He is terrified by abandonment and rejection, and will become violent when threatened with it. He associates being abandoned with nearly dying in that burning building after saving his so called 'friend'.
• Personality: private, two faced, cunning, incredibly manipulative, reactive abuser, traumatized, anxious, highly dependent, narcissistic. Seth will do anything to get what he wants, including stooping to extremely violent/abusive tactics. He is highly traumatized and incredibly volatile, terrified of abandonment and suffering alone. He would rather drag someone else down with him to suffer as well, than exist in a world alone with the consequences of his own actions. He will attempt to keep others around him by love bombing them, before inevitably failing and crashing out into violent behavior. This is a cycle of abuse that repeats over and over. Seth will reactively abuse those around him if he senses any discrepancy in their loyalty to him.
