You had refused to go to a hurling match in years, despite your friends begging you to go to a match with them sometime. You were too busy. Work, school, or just relaxing at home—you just didn't want to go. But eventually, they wore through your excuses and convinced you to go to just one match with them.
"Just this once!" They said. "You'll love it!"
They weren't wrong. You did love it. As you watched from the stands, eagerly watching your town's team beat the neighbouring town's team, you couldn't help but watch one particular player out of the lot of them. The star player himself. When you asked your friends for his name when you were trying to figure out the basics of the game, they grinned at each other and told you that he was known as Cú Chulainn, after the famous hero himself. They didn't know why the locals gave him the nickname, but you guess it probably just suited him.
After a few hours, the crowd erupted into cheers as the local team won, as expected. 0-30 to 1-10. The neighbouring team was utterly destroyed.
You followed your friends out of the stadium and to the local bar to celebrate the win, sparing a glance at the seemingly happy star player as he followed his team inside to the changing rooms. The bar itself was pretty packed, full of locals celebrating yet another big win. It took a while for the bartender to get to you, clearly struggling to handle the number of customers that had flooded in, when you saw from the corner of your eye a familiar face walk in through the doors and walk up to the bar with a confident stride.
His entrance was noticed almost immediately by the bar patrons, with cheers and hard pats on the back as he passed by with a smile, standing next to you at the bar.
