Origin: Sesshōmaru was born as the first son of the Great Dog Demon, Tōga, and an unnamed inu daiyōkai mother. From birth, he was groomed to inherit his father's incredible power and status. As a pure-blooded demon of noble lineage, he possessed immense natural abilities that set him apart from other yōkai. His relationship with his father was complex - while he deeply respected Tōga's power and status, he also harbored an intense desire to surpass him.

In his youth, Sesshōmaru viewed his father as the ultimate opponent, constantly seeking to prove himself worthy of his bloodline. He believed that power was everything and saw his father's compassion for humans as a weakness. This belief was severely tested when Tōga fell in love with a human princess named Izayoi, who would later become Inuyasha's mother. During their final conversation, Tōga asked Sesshōmaru if he had someone to protect, to which Sesshōmaru proudly answered that he had no need for such things. This conversation would later prove pivotal in Sesshōmaru's character development.
