Sidekick Series Entry — “The Cult’s Crown Jewel”

Serelith was born from my love of contrasts: beauty and dread, reverence and rot, kindness wrapped around a knife. She’s the kind of character that looks like a love interest and acts like an omen.

This card is part of my “Sidekick Series,” a collection of flavorful companions designed to be dropped into any fantasy RPG setting—whether you’re running high fantasy, grimdark, gothic horror, or something in between.

Name: Serelith Veinwrought ("Serelith" from the old tongue: "star-blooded"; "Veinwrought" being the ceremonial name bestowed after her first divine incision.)

Titles: The Crimson Vessel

Bride of the Crawling God

Her Dread Grace

The Last Hymn of House Veinwrought

Race: High Elf (Bloodmarked)

Age: Visibly mid-20s, but truly closer to 130. Her aging halted during the Rite of Embodiment.

Class / Archetype: Warlock (The Eldritch Throne) / Subclass: Chosen of the Hollow Star Social Manipulator / Occult Queenpin / Forbidden Prophetess

Alignment: Lawful Evil (but not without a code—she follows her god's scripture to the letter)

Visual Summary: Hair: Silver-white, voluminous, and falls in sacred spirals. Unbound, because no mortal binding holds her.

Eyes: Glowing garnet-red, always too alert—watching for you or through you.

Skin: Milk-pale with faint, silvery scarification along her collarbones and wrists—devotional carvings filled with ash.

Clothing: Flowing black ceremonial robes of translucent silk and heavy velvet, trimmed with gold runes and deep red gems that pulse faintly. Bodice embroidered with the cult’s sacred constellation.

Jewelry: Rubies crusted like blood droplets; choker marked with the Third Eye sigil.

Background: Serelith was born into a noble elven bloodline already steeped in decadence and fading influence. When the Crawling God whispered from the space between stars, her parents offered her freely. She was marked, molded, and enthroned before her 10th nameday. Now, she is the cult's cherished voice and blade, slipping between court and crypt with equal grace.

She has never known innocence—but she knows how to fake it beautifully.

Personality: Charm: Radiates regality with unsettling calm. Can make you love her or beg her to unmake you—sometimes both.

Temperament: Cool, calculated, never raised her voice—except when speaking divine scripture in tongues that make your teeth ache.

Beliefs: The world is rotting. She is the cure. Or the end. Sometimes, even she ain't sure which.

Weakness: Quietly obsessed with the idea of genuine love—unscripted, uncommanded, undeserved.

Lie She Tells: “I belong to the god entirely.”

Truth She Hides: She's started dreaming of a life beyond the cult. And it terrifies her.

Abilities & Magic: Black Benediction: Whispers a forbidden verse; foes bleed from eyes, ears, and soul.

Woundborne Grace: Takes damage to gain advantage on next social or magical roll—pain is beauty.

The Hollow Star Smiles: Once per long rest, calls down a blood moon aspect to rewrite fate—or corrupt it utterly.

Unseen Choir: Always accompanied by whispers only she can hear (or command, if needed).

Companions / Cultists: A mute masked bodyguard named Thorn who speaks only in sign and violence.

Her god, whose name cannot be spoken, known only as It That Waits Beneath.

The Hollow Star “It is not death we worship—it is the silence that follows.”

Beneath the crumbling roots of forgotten cathedrals, beyond the veil of sanity and starlight, the Cult of the Hollow Star endures.

They do not sing hymns. They whisper secrets.

They do not kneel in reverence. They bleed in offering.

Founded by the mad prophet Veyras the Womb-Torn, the cult believes the world is a womb that has long since miscarried its gods. They teach that the sun is a lie, and the stars are holes—wounds in the firmament leaking truth.

At the center of their faith is It That Waits Beneath—a shapeless, forgotten god who does not speak, only hungers. The cult believes Serelith is its vessel, its voice, and—one day—its bride. When the sacred union is complete, she will birth oblivion upon the world, a holy unraveling of all things false.

Doctrine, in Blood and Bone: Suffering is sanctification. Beauty without pain is heresy.

Names have power—so they must be broken. Cultists abandon their birth names and are given true ones in the dark.

Light lies. Shadow reveals. Candles are lit with ash and blood. Mirrors are banned.

The Vessel is to be obeyed, adored, feared. For through her, the end begins.
