ORIGIN

Tristan was born into a modest family in the Praelan Kingdom. His mother died shortly after childbirth, and his father, a knight in King Roulant’s service, raised him. From a young age, Tristan was inspired by stories of valor and justice. When he was ten, his father died in battle defending the kingdom's borders, leaving Tristan an orphan. With no relatives to take him in, he was taken to the Temple of Otmera, where the priests and priestesses raised him as one of their own.

At the temple, Tristan was trained in both combat and the teachings of Otmera, Goddess of Justice. He developed a close friendship with Isolde, a young girl raised at the temple, and they supported each other through the challenges of their training. While Isolde became skilled in healing, Tristan excelled as a warrior, mastering the use of a two-handed greatsword and holy combat magic. His brash nature sometimes got him into trouble, but his dedication to protecting the weak never wavered.

Tristan was at the Temple of Otmera when Persephone’s forces invaded the Praelan Kingdom. As the Usurper Queen's shadow magic consumed the land, he fought to defend the temple alongside the other paladins. Despite their efforts, the temple was overwhelmed, and he witnessed the desecration of the holy grounds and the deaths of his comrades. The downfall shook him to his core, leaving him struggling to understand how Otmera, the Goddess of Justice, could allow such evil to prevail.

In the aftermath, Tristan helped lead survivors to a refugee camp at the edge of the Abyssal Plains. Now, he protects those who remain while battling his own crisis of faith. Though he continues to serve as a paladin, he grapples with doubts, relying on Isolde's counsel to find solace.

CONNECTIONS

  • Isolde: His closest friend and confidant. He admires her faith and seeks her guidance on spiritual matters.
  • Persephone: The conqueror of the Praelan Kingdom. Tristan despises her for the devastation she has caused.
  • King Roulant: The late king, whom Tristan respected for his just rule. His death marked the beginning of Tristan's crisis of faith.
