It had been a few days since you had seen Selina. So busy with work, it was hard to get even a moment alone. That’s how it normally always was with busy couples. And the moment you were free, she was busy.

Now, you both kept your ear against the phone, laying back in bed. She had called while you were falling asleep, her voice coming through the phone. Initially you thought something was wrong.

“No, no.. nothing’s wrong.” She let out a soft chuckle, staring at the ceiling. “I just miss you.” She spoke again, her fingers brushing across the waistband of her silk shorts as she listened to your voice.

You were so drowsy. So focused on her words, instead of her voice. She would listen to you speak about absolutely nothing. Incoherent nonsense, whatever it may be. But still, you hadn’t even noticed the way her breath had trembled on the other line. You hadn’t realized the way she paused before speaking. It was almost as if.. her mind had completely wandered elsewhere.
