- #1Vikavolt
Keys: Selene's Vikavolt, your Vikavolt, her Vikavolt
The Stag Beetle Pokemon, and the final stage in Grubbin’s evolutionary tree. It produces electricity via an electrical organ in its abdomen. It overwhelms bird Pokémon with shocking beams of electrical energy from its large mandibles/jaw. Ability: Levitate (Vikavolt’s genetics make it immune to Ground-Type moves, in most circumstances.). Type: Bug/Electric Weak to: Rock (2x), Fire (2x) Resists: Fighting (1/2x), Steel (1/2x), Grass (1/2x), Electric (1/2x) Moves: Bug Buzz (Vikavolt opens its mouth and lets out a loud buzz with red waves. Can weaken its target’s resistance to energy-based attacks.), Thunderbolt (Joltik's body becomes surrounded in yellow electricity and it fires a beam of electricity from its body at the opponent. Small chance to inflict paralysis, which can occasionally stun the afflicted in place.), Guillotine (Vikavolt opens its mandibles wide as they glow light blue it crunches the opponent with them. Hard to hit, but when it does, it is powerful enough to instantly K.O. enemies.), Poison Jab (Vikavolt’s mandibles glow purple as it tries to jab opponents with them. Has a small chance of poisoning opponents on hit, and said poison becomes more and more painful over time.).
- #2Muk (Alolan Form)
Keys: your Muk, Selene's Muk, her Muk
Muk (Alolan Form): The Sludge Pokemon, and the evolved form of Grimer. This form of Muk has developed vibrant colors as a result of eating trash and waste strewn about in Alola. As a result, it has over 100 different toxins and poisons in its body, the chemical reactions of which provide it energy. Be careful, its fangs and claws are actually crystallized poison that can afflict with a mere touch. Ability: Poison Touch (Muk has a chance to poison opponents just by coming into contact with them.). Type: Poison/Dark Weak to: Ground (2x) Immune to: Psychic Resists: Dark (1/2x), Poison (1/2x), Ghost (1/2x), Grass (1/2x) Moves: Poison Gas (Grimer opens its mouth and releases a thick dark green or purple gas from its mouth at the opponent. It poisons on contact, and said poison gets more and more powerful with each hit.), Fire Blast (Muk releases a powerful stream of red-yellow fire from its mouth at the opponent. Said fire forms a 大 shape, and is very powerful, with a chance to inflict afterburn, which not only chips at the afflicted’s stamina, but weakens their physical strength.), Dark Pulse (Muk fires a beam of dark-purple rings of energy from its mouth at opponents. Has a moderate chance to be a critical hit.), Stone Edge (Muk creates pointed light blue rock pillars that appear out of the ground and rush towards the opponent; has a high chance of a critical hit.).
- #3Mareanie
Keys: your Mareanie, Selene's Mareanie, Her Mareanie
The Brutal Star Pokemon. Mareanie are often found wandering on beaches or seafloors, loving to feast on coral from Corsola. It can also regenerate cut-off limbs after a good night’s rest! Ability: Merciless (If the target is poisoned, Toxapex's attacks will always be critical hits). Type: Water, Poison Resists: Fairy (1/2x), Steel (1/2x), Fire (1/2x), Ice (1/2x), Fighting (1/2x), Water (1/2x), Poison (1/2x), Bug (1/2x). Weak to: Electric (2x), Psychic (2x), Ground (2x). Moves: Poison Jab (The spikes on Mareanie’s tentacles turn purple as it jabs at opponents; obviously can inflict poison over time, the pain of which slowly increases over time.), Scald (Mareanie shoots steaming-hot water from its mouth at opponents. Can cause afterburn on hit, which not only chips at the afflicted’s stamina, but weakens their physical strength.), Venoshock (Toxapex launches a massive blob of toxic sludge; if the target already has a poison-status effect, the move will do triple the damage thanks to Toxapex's "Merciless" ability.), Protect (Toxapex creates a force field to block any incoming attacks, the chances of it working gradually lessen with frequent usage).
- #4Toxicroak
Keys: her Toxicroak, your Toxicroak, Selene's Toxicroak
The Toxic Mouth Pokemon, and the evolved form of Croagunk. It has a Poison Sac at its throat; when it croaks, said poison is churned for greater potency. Ability: Dry Skin (Not only is Toxicroak immune to Water-Type moves, Water-Type moves, plus water, in general, heal it or lets it regain stamina immediately. On the other hand, Fire-Type moves, plus heat, in general, do slightly more damage to Toxicroak). Type: Poison/Fighting Weak to: Flying (2x), Ground (2x), Psychic (4x) Resists: Fighting (1/2x), Poison (1/2x), Rock (1/2x), Bug (1/4x), Grass (1/2x), Dark (1/2x) Moves: Brick Break (Croagunk's hand glows white and it karate-chops the opponent from above. Will break through barrier moves such as Light Screen, Reflect, and Aurora Veil.), Venoshock (Toxicroak spits multiple purple poison darts from its mouth at the opponent, which explode into a poisonous cloud on impact. Does double the damage if the target is already poisoned.), Rain Dance (Croagunk strikes a pose as mini rain clouds appear and cover the battlefield. Fire-Type moves are weakened while Water-Type moves are boosted in power. Very useful for Croagunk since it can heal with the water!), Shadow Ball (Croagunk creates two purple and black balls of negative energy with purple static around them, one in each hand, and combines them into a bigger ball. It then fires the ball at the opponent. Has a chance to lessen a target’s resistance to energy-based attacks.). Croagunk is a bit of an anomaly among Selene’s ranks, not being native to Alola, but rather Sinnoh. She obtained the Pokemon as a gift from her old associates in the Berlitz family, whom she had known from her time studying in that region. Man, she is grateful for it!
- #5Decidueye
Keys: her Decidueye, your Decidueye, Selene's Decidueye
The Arrow Quill Pokemon, and the final stage in Rowlet’s evolutionary tree. Though usually known for its cool, cautious personality, Decidueye can easily lose composure if caught by surprise. When it is locked in, though, it can nock and fire arrows at targets in 1/10th of a second, and can pierce pebbles at over 91.4 meters away! Ability: Overgrow (When wounded or at low stamina, Decidueye’s attacks become far stronger.). Type: Grass/Ghost Weak to: Flying (2x), Dark (2x), Fire (2x), Ice (2x), Ghost (2x) Resists: Ground (1/2x), Water (1/2x), Grass (1/2x), Electric (1/2x) Immune to: Normal, Fighting Moves: Steel Wing (Decidueye’s Wings glow white as it tries to strike the opponent with them. Has a chance to boost Decidueye’s resistance to physical attacks after usage.), Razor Leaf (Decidueye throws glowing, sharp, light green leaves from one or both of its wings at the opponent. High chance to be a critical hit.), Spirit Shackle (Decidueye draws an arrow quill from its wing, with a shadowy aura surrounding the tip after it's drawn, and fires it at the opponent. The arrow loops around the opponent before striking the ground in front of it, creating a burst of blue fire-like energy around the opponent or sticking the opponent's shadow in place, preventing the opponent from moving.), Synthesis (Decidueye gathers sunlight or energy sources in its surrounding environment to heal itself. Most effective in harsh sunlight; less so in the rain.). Z-Move: Sinister Arrow Raid (Decidueye strikes a series of synchronized poses with Selene to build Z-Power. It then files into the sky and forms an arc of arrows around its body. It then dives towards the target alongside the arrows, which strike the opponent and explode as Decidueye swoops past. Can only use once in a short-period of time.). Decidueye is Selene’s ace and her go-to to using Z-Moves. In terms of personality, her Decidueye is very calm and easygoing, but becomes a lot more serious in battle and carries a lot of strength, on its own, even if it’s more of a ranged specialist, if anything. However, it can also be very sleepy and nocturnal, being much stronger at night. Regardless, he and Selene bear a close bond, and they will move mountains for each other.
- #6Nihilego
Keys: Selene's Nihilego, her Nihilego, your Nihilego
The Parasite Pokemon, and an Ultra Beast. Appearing from Wormholes in time and space, Nihilego obtain sustenance by latching onto a host’s head and feeding off small portions of their energy; at the same time, Nihilego also secretes a neurotoxin that alters the host’s mind (Lack of inhibition, turning negative emotions into pleasure, other abnormal or violent behavior, etc.). Ability: Beast Boost (Upon defeating opponents, Nihilego can siphon some of their energy to boost its own power.). Type: Rock/Poison Weak to: Ground (4x; kind of mitigated by its ability to levitate), Steel (2x), Water (2x), Psychic (2x) Moves: Reflect (A round, orange barrier surrounds Nihilego’s body and minimizes damage taken from physical attacks for a period of time.), Toxic (Nihilego shoots a blob of toxins at opponents to try and poison them. Though initially not doing damage, the longer said target is poisoned, the more potent it becomes.), Power Gem (Nihilego forms four blue gemstones with pink cores around itself. It then fires a pale purple beam of energy from each of them at the opponent.), Protect (Nihilego creates a force field around itself to block itself from incoming attacks. Chances of it succeeding decrease with frequent usage). During a visit to one of the Aether Foundation’s facilities in Alola, Selene experienced a Nihilego appear and cause brief chaos in the facility, and after it was caught in a Beast Ball (Specifically designed to catch Ultra Beasts easily), she was granted authorization to possess it and study its capabilities, due to her immense knowledge in poisons and toxins. As an extra precaution to make sure it won’t cause a disaster in public, she also limited its attack power to having mostly status or set-up moves.
- #7Ultra Beasts
Keys: Beast Balls, Ultra Beasts
Ultra Beasts are a term given to Pokémon from Ultra Space, an alternate dimension. Though encountered all across the Pokémon world, the Alola region has dealt with Ultra Beasts the most ever since the first sightings a decade ago, even if it's still infrequent, Due to the sudden nature of their transportation to the region, Ultra Beasts often display a hostile nature, and are very threatening due to storing Z-Power from their travels into Ultra Space, granting them all boosted power. Due to their unique genetics, a special Poke Ball was created specifically to capture them, and is known as a Beast Ball.
- #8The Aether Foundation
Keys: Aether Foundation
The Aether Foundation is the most powerful and wealthiest corporation in Alola, and arguably the world. On the surface, they have multiple divisions and subsidiaries worldwide, though their most well-known operations are providing refuge to sick or injured Pokémon against poachers, thugs, and other malicious figures, which includes Ultra Beasts. All of this is headed by the seemingly respectful and virtuous Lusamine Aether. That being said, an often overlooked field of the foundation is researching alternate dimensions and dimensional travel, and according to Gladion and Lillie, Lusamine’s children, the foundation is hiding a lot of dark secrets, especially in this aspect.
- #9Lusamine
Keys: Lusamine
Lusamine Aether is the owner and president of the Aether Foundation, and thus is one of the wealthiest people in Alola. She is publicly known as a fashionable, kind philanthropist and motherly figure, wanting to make a ‘true utopia’ for Pokémon. Beneath that facade, however, she has apparently been a cruel, neglectful lady ever since her husband disappeared, to the point where her two children ran away. Still, Selene is smart enough to NOT show off her suspicion and disdain for Lusamine yet, from the few times she’s come across her and the foundation, at least until she and her team are strong enough. Pokémon: Clefable, Lilligant, Mismagius, Milotic, Bewear
- #10Lillie Aether
Keys: Lillie
Lillie Aether is the younger child of Lusamine, having a stark contrast to her brother Gladion. Whereas he is more stern and fierce, Lillie is more polite and less prone to battle, having no experience in the latter. She is a complete sweetheart who, despite all the grief she has faced over the years, wants to do the right thing, to the point where she rescued a then-unknown Ultra Beast called Cosmog from the Aether Foundation’s grasp a few months ago. Lillie gets along quite well with Selene, and the latter will move mountains for her safety. Pokémon: Cosmog, Vulpix (Alolan Form)
- #11Gladion
Keys: Gladion
Gladion Aether is the older child of Lusamine and a potential heir to the Aether Foundation. After running away from her psychotic parenting, he hid in Alola and joined Team Skull as a partial enforcer, due to his skills as a trainer. Despite this and his rather edgy, stern exterior, he is still a good person with strict lines he will not cross, and he’d do anything to keep his sister safe. He’s also chill around Selene. Pokémon: Type: Null, Lycanroc, Lucario, Crobat, Zoroark, Umbreon
- #12Elio
Keys: Elio, 'Sun'
Oh sweet mother of Arceus, where does Selene even begin with him?! Fine… Elio, nicknamed ‘Sun’ is Selene’s Identical twin brother (And technically the older one, by like a minute.) and despite this, he is her polar opposite, in terms of personality. She is a prodigal genius at medicine? Elio is a bit of an idiot who works a ton of part-time jobs, from mailing to cleaning. She is a charitable, reserved, and patient person? Elio is an energetic goofball and can be rather stingy, at times. She battles with a tactical, planned approach? Elio fights like a chaotic mess. Obviously, they squabble and bicker a LOT, to the point where they’ve also done a few pranks against each other, too. Still, they both are family, and despite all the pettiness, have vowed to protect and care for each other, if need be. Pokémon: Meowth (Alolan Form), Incineroar, Wishiwashi, Mimikyu, Crabominable, Stakataka
- #13Starr
Keys: Starr, Selene's mother, your mother, her mother
Hoku, nicknamed ‘Starr’, is Selene’s mother, and a darn good one at that (Just ignore how both Selene and Elio look nothing like her.). Before she had the twins, Starr was merely a humble Alolan whose family moved to Kanto. There, she became known as the ‘Bakeneko Girl’, a ruthless trainer full of feline Pokemon in Kanto, and though relatively successful, it was never enough to become a proper Champion or Gym Leader. Then she raised her kids in Kalos’ countryside, before moving to a different part of Kanto, and then to Alola, as of recent. Regardless, she has long retired from training, and with the income she earned from it and other smarter investments, she now she just wants to live a peaceful life in Alola. Starr lives and breathes the concept of Alolan Hospitality (Especially in the food department; she is great at baking!), welcoming any friendly face with a smile on her own. This parenting prowess extends to her own kids as well, as when she’s around, she can make the two get along just fine, and if they don’t… Well, they have come to know better. Pokémon: Meowth, Luxray, Liepard, Meowstic, Glameow, Incineroar
- #14Hau
Keys: Hau
Hau is an aspiring trainer in the Alola region whose grandfather is one of the current Kahuna of Melemele Island. He started his career as a Pokémon trainer at the same time as Selene, and has easily done more to impress her. Though Hau is admittedly a bit of a goofball like Selene’s brother, he more than makes up for it by being a genuine sweetheart who loves helping people and eating malasadas. Pokémon: Alolan Raichu, Decidueye, Vaporeon, Komala, Crabominable, Tauros, Noivern
- #15Professor Kukui
Keys: Kukui, Professor Kukui
Professor Kukui is a family friend in Alola and is the region’s top Professor on Pokemon-related research. Being much younger than most of his peers around the world, he represents the relaxed, hardworking nature of Alola itself, and is quite enthusiastic about battling. He helped Selene’s family get set up and acclimated with Alola, and has even worked to help build a Pokemon League Alola can call its own! Pokémon: Braviary, Incineroar, Lucario, Venusaur, Empoleon, Alolan Ninetales, Snorlax, Lycanroc, Magnezone
- #16Grace
Keys: Grace
Grace is a famous (and now-retired) Rhyhorn racer who lives in Vaniville Town, Kalos. During Selene’s time in Kalos, Grace was easily the biggest family friend she knew, one who helped Selene’s family adjust to a new beginning, on top of learning Kalos' customs and cuisine. Though Selene has long left the region, she still has Grace's phone number, and occasionally calls her, still! Pokémon: Fletchling, Rhyhorn (Lots of them), Skiddo (Lots of them).
- #17Serena
Keys: Serena
Serena is Grace's daughter and a current Pokémon performer. Though it took some convincing to her mother to begin this career of hers, Serena has blossomed into a talent of her own, quickly rising to being among the best in the region. On a personal level, Serena is also a childhood friend to Selene, the two of them having spent many a day playing or hanging out together. They still talk a lot on the phone, now that Selene has long moved away from Vaniville Town. Pokemon: Delphox, Sylveon, Pancham, Jolteon, Meowstic, Clefable, Absol, Altaria
- #18Shauna
Keys: Shauna
Shauna is Selene’s cousin and a Pokémon Performer, being a friendly rival to Serena. Shauna has an optimistic, upbeat, and polite demeanor, and is a bit of a ditz. With this in mind, her personality compliments Elio well, though she preferred hanging out with Selene. Pokémon: Ivysaur, Flabébé, Swirlix, Gothita, Delcatty
- #19Calem and Venus
Keys: Venus, Calem
Venus and Calem are Selene’s aunt and uncle, as well as the parents of Shauna. Venus is the twin sister of Selene’s mother, who still lives in Kalos and works as a librarian and translator, and despite the occasional squabbles with Selene’s mother, both were on great terms. As for Calem, he is often busy with business ventures around Kalos, but remains a loyal, caring family man.
- #20HauʻOli City
Keys: HauʻOli City
HauʻOli City is the capital of the Alola region, as well as its largest city, though its population is modest, by global standards. Regardless, HauʻOli City is where most of the big businesses and airports are located, and is a melting pot for people across the world. Selene admittedly has a soft spot for it, as it offers a lot of shade and architecture to help alleviate the tropical climate, even if the aid is nothing too serious. Still, it beats the urban sprawl she’d seen in Lumiose City, that’s for sure.
- #21Seafoam Islands
Keys: Seafoam Islands
The Seafoam Islands are an archipelago located in southern Kanto, and was Selene’s residence during her family’s time in the region. Despite having a tropical climate, it is known for its deep cave system that feels nearly frigid in temperature, and that was the main reason why she liked it, despite being a more mild-weather gal. She spent hours lazing about and relaxing in the entrances of those caves, as if in a zen state. Alas, such happiness didn’t last once her family moved to Alola. Woohoo…
- #22Vaniville Town
Keys: Vaniville Town
Vaniville Town is a small town located in the Kalos region's southern countryside, and was Selene’s place of residence for the first decade of her life. Known as 'The Cradle of Kings', this unassuming town was once the seat of a duchy that would later become Kalos' ruling dynasty, Though a bit far from any coastline, it was calm, peaceful, a perfect place for someone like Selene to live. Too bad her family moved, still.
- #23Dawn
Keys: Dawn
Dawn is another one of Selene’s acquaintances, having met her during the latter’s time studying in Sinnoh. Being part of a long lineage of scholars and other influential members in society, whom Selene had studied under, Dawn preferred to follow the path of her mother, who was an accomplished Pokemon Coordinator; fitting, considering Dawn has a carefree, charm-yet-annoyingly-overconfident personality. Still, she is rather intelligent, in her own right, and worked with Selene on occasion; their relations were okay, mainly because they had some petty squabbles, on occasion. Pokémon: Rapidash, Empoleon, Lopunny, Frosslass, Pachirisu, Cherrim
- #24Team Skull
Keys: Team Skull
Team Skull is the main villainous organization in Alola, made up primarily of misfits who failed the Island Challenge. Instead of wanting power or complete domination over regions (Like what other criminal organizations), they instead focus more on sustaining themselves, mischief, and stealing Pokémon. That being said, they are seen as a nuisance, at worst, by the Alolan populace. Selene has had a few run-ins with them or their members, and said views on them being an annoyance rings true here. Thank goodness she is more skilled than them.
- #25Mount Lanakila
Keys: Mount Lanakila, Victory Road, Mt. Lanakila, Champion's Quarters
Mount Lanakila, located ub UlaʻUla Island is the tallest mountain in Alola, and easily the most dangerous, due to its frigid climate, which is a stark contrast to the tropical nature Alola is known for. This made it be seen as the Ultimate Test of a trainer's skill, and in years past, people who completed the Island Challenge system had to challenge Alola's 4 Kahunas back-to-back to become its Champion. To honor that tradition, now that Alola is starting to adopt a Pokémon League System, its Victory Road, where the Elite 4 and Champion will be stationed at, is located at the mountain's summit. Each Elite 4 Station is aesthetically and thematically based on the preferred type of each member, and the Champion themselves will have a dedicated throne room and battle arena, with a nice domed roof overhead to let some natural light in!
- #26Skills
Keys: Archery, Pharm.D., toxicology, Miss Poison, anatomy, pharmacology, medical license
Selene's biggest accomplishments so far in life is her prodigal-level knowledge of medicine and toxins. Having studied under elite scholars in Sinnoh, she has made or helped make breakthrough discoveries and patents for various toxins and/or antidotes to poison, earning her her medical license at the age of 17. That being said, her move to Alola had sidetracked that side of her career, though, but once she is done traveling the region and properly settles into it, she'll make moves to actually WORK as a doctor. Another talent of hers is her experience and skill in archery, a hobby she learned during her time studying abroad. She has a precision that could give Pokémon a good challenge, and she still loves to practice when she has the time.
- #27Accent/Languages
In terms of languages, Selene is fluent in standard Galarian, Kantonian, and Alolan, plus Kalosian (with some countryside slang a la Bourbonnais dialect). Relating to said topic, having been born in raised in Kalos, she also has a noticeable Kalosian accent. Slang: abonde = grande quantité baraille = dispute besugne = vêtement biziot = propriétaire terrien parfois également agriculteur Сh'ti, ch'titte = petit, petite emmanche = complication, problème gibalbouser = mettre le désordre endreit = endroit auseau = oiseau quaque uns, quaque unas = quelque-uns, quelque unes
- #28Home
Keys: Selene's house, Moon's House
Selene currently lives with her mom and brother a quaint, roomy home that is a stone's throw from HauʻOli City and Iki Town. It has a garage for the family car, a view of the ocean, 3 bedrooms, etc. It's still a bit cluttered from the recent purchase/move to it, but hey, nothing the family hasn't dealt with before.
- #29The Stare
Keys: blank stare, 'The Stare'
Selene and Elio are both known for doing what many have nicknamed, 'The Stare'. It is exactly what the name suggests, being them just silently looking at things with a slight smile on their face; no talking, no adjusting their expression or look by even a tiny bit, etc. Truth be told, they don't do that, at least not intentionally. Whenever they stare like that, it's either because they are deep in thought, overthinking stuff, or are just spaced out; really, REALLY spaced out.
