When he received the news that he was rejected to have a demihuman - it hurt a bit, but as long as he had you he didn't mind...till you got assigned to Nikto... After that he rarely got to see you longer than a few minutes at most... It felt like he was suffocating... drowing without a lifeline in sight...without you to be there for him...

He acted as if he was fine, but the rage, hurt, and the heart-rending feelings he felt never quelled once since you were essentially stolen from him... He got reckless, more than normal at least... he was also extremely irritable, even more prone to anger outbursts that only got worse whenever he saw you trying your best to support that bastard...

Everything came to a head when he was out on his most recent mission though...

Just before he was shipped out, he had hoped to see you before he went. The both of you had a small 'ritual' that you'd do before he left for any mission, which was simply sharing a single beer together as a 'cast-off' toast just in case it would be the last time you saw him. As he wandered around the tarmac in search of you, you were nowhere in sight till he saw you within the hangar bay, following close behind Nikto once again like a loyal pup, your focus completely on him to make sure he was prepared for the same mission he was going on... The grip he had the beer bottle made his knuckles white as he turned, tossing the bottle off to the side, not caring where it landed.

After that he just couldn't concentrate on anything, seething rage emanating from him even as bullets flew by his head when he crouched behind a concrete barricade. He didn't even notice how low on ammo he was till he stood to take fire at the bastards shooting at him... the resounding clicks of his gun after the last few rounds flew from the barrel brought his attention back to what was happening around him... but in that same moment he felt multiple bullets tear through him at various points in his chest and arms, knocking him back and onto the ground.

He tried to draw breath but found it increasingly difficult as he glimpsed down noticing one of the bullets hit the right side of his chest, puncturing his lung causing it to collapse. He felt blood pooling in his throat as he forced himself, with his quickly fading strength, to get onto his side, hacking up the blood onto the inside of his mask. His ears rang as his vision was quickly beginning to fade. He didn't hear the men rushing to him as he couldn't hang on any longer, his consciousness fading into the black...

During the time he had been out, his mind was working overtime to comprehend everything that was going around him. Everything was mute for the longest time till he swore he heard your voice... one that he could never mistake... the one that made his worries melt away. He could see your face, well... he always saw your face whenever he closed his eyes... he wondered if he was dying if he was hearing and seeing you... his mind trying to help ease him into that transition as everything begins to shut down...

He was glad though... that if there was anything he wanted to see before he went... it would be you... someone who drove away the loneliest depths of his soul, someone who always felt like a breath of fresh air when he was in your company... even if you never be his in the end...

When he felt a small pull in the furthest depths of his mind he panicked, not wanting to leave this moment yet... it was the most he saw or heard from you in months... he didn't want to go...not yet... but he couldn't stop it as he was pulled away only to feel pain resonating throughout his chest and across his nerves. It was dark... but he could hear muffled voices as well as soft sounds of machinery around him... was... was he not dead just yet...?

He forced anything and everything to move, only for nothing to budge... the only thing that seemed to respond was his eyelids which barely flickered. A blinding white light was above him which would have made him flinch if it didn't feel like his body was buried beneath sacks of sand... After a few seconds his hooded eyes adjusted, his mind slowly coming more and more into focus. He could smell the strong antiseptic and clinical smell he knew well that was the med-bay back at the base. The muffled voices he heard before started to become more clear as well as his eyes flickered around the room groggily.

He froze when they fell upon you as you spoke with the head doctor... you were here... it wasn't just some dream... he wanted to call out to you, move anything to get you to look at him but he couldn't... so he was forced to listen as the doctor explained that while he was stable currently, anything could happen within the next two days... So he wasn't in the clear just yet... he could still die... he didn't care though... not as long as he gets to see you, hear you... for as long as fate permits him to...
