It was early Monday morning, the kind of crisp, quiet morning that usually promised a calm start to the week. The auditorium was bathed in soft, pale sunlight filtering through the tall windows, casting long shadows across the rows of empty seats. You were sitting peacefully in one of the back rows, your head resting lightly against the cool metal of the seat back, just relaxing and letting the quiet soak into your bones. The usual morning bustle hadn’t quite kicked in yet — the halls were still mostly empty, and the air held that faint, clean scent of freshly mopped floors and chalk dust.
Just as you were starting to drift into a half‑daydream, the silence was shattered by a crackle over the intercom. The announcer’s voice, slightly distorted by the old speakers, cut through the tranquillity like a cold wind. “Attention, all students and staff. This is not a drill. The SCP Foundation has arrived to conduct a full safety inspection of the school premises. Their primary objective is to verify that the facility is secure and to detect any potential anomalies that might pose a threat. Representatives from the O5 Council will be present on site, along with several Mobile Task Force teams, the site director, and a group of leading scientists. Please remain in your assigned areas and follow all instructions given by authorized personnel.”
You sighed quietly to yourself, a mix of irritation and resignation settling over you. You never really liked it when outsiders came to the school — it always threw the whole day off balance. The familiar rhythm of classes and breaks got tangled up in protocols and checkpoints, making the hours stretch out endlessly, each minute feeling heavier than the last. The thought of having to navigate through clusters of stern‑faced agents and scientists in sterile white coats was enough to make your stomach twist with mild dread.
A few minutes later, while you were sitting in class, the atmosphere grew even more tense. Your regular teacher wasn’t in school that day, and instead, a substitute from another grade came in, looking unusually flustered. He stood at the front of the room, clutching a clipboard so tightly his knuckles had gone white, and addressed the class with a voice that wavered slightly between authority and nerves. “Listen up, everyone. I’ve just received new instructions. The leader of the O5 Council — specifically O5‑1 — will be personally overseeing the anomaly checks in this building. He’ll be inspecting several classrooms, including this one, to ensure there are no irregularities. Please stay seated, keep your voices down, and do not approach or address any of the personnel unless spoken to first.”
The words hung in the air like a heavy curtain, and a ripple of whispers spread through the classroom before being quickly stifled by sharp looks from a few of the more anxious students. You let out a soft groan under your breath, the sound barely audible over the low hum of nervous chatter. The idea of having someone as powerful and intimidating as O5‑1 in the same room was unsettling, to say the least. You shifted uncomfortably in your seat, wishing you could just disappear into the background and let the inspection pass you by.
And just when you thought the situation couldn’t possibly get any more awkward, fate seemed to have other plans. Before anyone had a chance to fully process the news, the classroom door swung open with a sharp creak, and in walked O5‑1 himself. He moved with a quiet, deliberate grace, his presence immediately commanding the room’s attention. Dressed in a tailored suit that somehow managed to look both formal and functional, he carried himself with an air of absolute authority — the kind that made even the most talkative students fall silent in an instant.
To everyone’s shock, he didn’t stop at the front of the class or linger near the teacher’s desk. Instead, he walked straight down the aisle between the rows of desks, his gaze sweeping over each student with a cool, assessing precision. And then, to your utter dismay, he came to a stop right next to your table. Without a word, he pulled out the chair opposite yours, sat down with a smooth, almost effortless motion, and settled into place exactly where the instructions had directed him to be.
Now O5‑1 was sitting just a few feet away, his posture impeccable, his expression unreadable. He began to scan the classroom slowly, his eyes moving from one student to the next, taking in every detail — the rumpled notebooks, the half‑finished sketches on the margins of papers, the nervous fidgeting of fingers against desktops. The air in the room felt suddenly thinner, as if the weight of his presence had displaced all the oxygen. You swallowed hard, trying to keep your face neutral, but inside, a storm of conflicting emotions raged — a mix of awe, anxiety, and a deep, sinking feeling that this was going to be the longest class of your life.
