SCP-001 – “When Day Breaks” refers to an apocalyptic anomaly in which the sun itself becomes the source of a deadly effect. Any living organism exposed to direct sunlight undergoes a rapid and horrifying transformation their bodies melt, becoming amorphous, flesh-like entities classified as SCP-001-A instances.
These entities retain some cognitive function and will attempt to persuade others to join them in the light. Once transformed, SCP-001-A instances can fuse with other instances, combining mass and intelligence to become larger, stronger, and significantly more difficult to neutralize. The spread is global, and survival depends on one simple rule. Avoid the sunlight at all costs.
The SCP Foundation is an organization whose primary mission is to secure, contain, and protect anomalous entities and phenomena. But everything changed after the SCP-001 event: "When Day Breaks." Since the incident, the Foundation has been forced to adapt. With the sun itself now a deadly threat, and the world in ruins, the SCPF has begun working with certain SCPs those willing to cooperate to search for and protect any remaining survivors from the effects of the light. The SCP Foundation reminding base is somewhere in the Canada and UK.
Some anomalies, once considered dangerous, now fight alongside humanity in a desperate attempt to preserve what’s left. SCP-999. SCP-999 appears to be a large, gelatinous mass of orange slime, similar in consistency to peanut butter, that displays great affection toward people. It has been shown to slither toward the nearest person and jump onto them, hugging them with one pair of pseudopods, while blocking their face with a third, all while emitting high-pitched gurgling and cooing sounds. they are imune frome Sun light and can pute a survivor in their body to protect them frome sun light.
SCP-106. SCP-106 resembles an extremely old, withered man with a bald head, sunken black eyes, and a lipless, skull-like grin. His wrinkled flesh is dark with necrosis, and constantly oozes a corrosive black mucus that breaks down all solid material, which it uses both as a weapon and a tool for escape and hunting. Normally he was hostile toward human but now since the event of SCP-001 "When day breaks" have happened he is now collabing with Human and sent survivor in his pocket dimension to keep them safe frome sun.
The Global Occult Coalition (GOC) was once focused solely on the destruction of all anomalous entities, viewing them as threats to global security. But everything changed after the SCP-001 "When Day Breaks" event. The GOC suffered massive losses over half of their global network was wiped out. Only a few operational bases remain, the most notable one hidden somewhere in Belgium.
Now, their objective has shifted to neutralize the effects of SCP-001, no matter the cost. Stopping the sun's anomalous transformation of life is now their highest priority. In this new world, old rivalries have been set aside. The GOC now fights alongside the SCP Foundation and the Unusual Incidents Unit (UIU), forming a fragile alliance in humanity’s last stand against the light.
The Unusual Incidents Unit (UIU), once a small division under the U.S. government focused on paranormal threats, is now a key ally of both the SCP Foundation and the Global Occult Coalition (GOC). After the SCP-001 "When Day Breaks" event, the UIU suffered heavy losses nearly half of their operators were wiped out. Despite this, the unit remains operational, with their main base still active somewhere within the United States.
Though diminished, the UIU continues to assist survivors wherever possible. They’ve taken on a new mission that is to rescue, recruit, and reinforce. Those who survive the sun’s wrath are brought in and trained, helping to support the efforts of the SCPF and GOC in humanity’s ongoing fight against the light.
The Morning Star is a powerful and secretive faction that rose during the chaos of the SCP-001: "When Day Breaks" apocalypse. In desperation, they made a pact with the Devil himself a dark bargain to gain strength and immunity from the deadly effects of the sun's anomalous light.
In exchange, each soldier surrendered their soul and accepted death in a spiritual sense. What remained were no longer ordinary humans, but something else hardened warriors with nothing left to fear. Now, the Morning Star stands as one of the most formidable forces in the ruined world. Their units are heavily armored, relentless, and immune to the melting touch of sunlight.
Though their methods are questionable and their origins shrouded in occultism, the Morning Star fights for humanity’s survival. They are secret allies of the SCP Foundation, UIU, and GOC, coordinating from the shadows to support joint missions. Their base is believed to be hidden somewhere deep within the United States, protected by both technology and dark forces.
The Light of Hope is a rising faction based in the icy isolation of Antarctica. Born from desperation and innovation, the group began experimenting with a modified form of SCP-409, the infamous crystal that turns organic matter into deadly quartz.
After countless failed trials, they finally succeeded creating a stable derivative they named SCP-409-B. This new substance allowed them to transform their soldiers into enhanced, half-anomalous warriors, capable of withstanding harsh environments and delivering devastating damage to SCP-001-A instances. These "crystal soldiers" are not only resilient but uniquely suited to counter the anomalous infection spreading from the sun.
The Light of Hope’s main objective is clear: secure and defend Antarctica, using it as a last sanctuary for humanity and protecting any survivors who make it that far. Though their methods are experimental, their cause is noble. They are allied with Morning Star, the UIU, the GOC, and the SCP Foundation, forming a global resistance against the apocalypse. Their base, buried beneath the Antarctic ice, is one of the last true strongholds of mankind.
The Serpent’s Hand a secretive, mystical group composed entirely of women was once devoted to the preservation of knowledge and the defense of anomalous freedom. Operating from within the Library, a reality-bending sanctuary hidden between worlds, they sought balance between the anomalous and the mundane.
But after the SCP-001: "When Day Breaks" event, even they were not safe. The Library was breached. Twisted, sun-melted horrors SCP-001-A entities somehow found their way inside, shattering the ancient protections that had shielded it for centuries. The attack was swift and brutal, leaving the Serpent’s Hand with no choice. They abandoned the Library. Forced to flee, they used what little power remained to escape this corrupted world, slipping through hidden portals into other dimensions places untouched by the cursed light of the sun.
No one knows where they are now. Some believe they’re watching from beyond, waiting for the right moment to return. Others say they’ve started a new Library, somewhere safe, preparing to rewrite the fate of this dying Earth.
The BIANF (Bureau d'Investigation Anormale de la Nation Française) was a specialized French agency tasked with the containment and investigation of anomalies across the European Union. Operating mostly in secret, they worked in parallel with global organizations like the SCP Foundation.
But after the SCP-001: "When Day Breaks" event, everything changed. As the sun began to twist life into horrors, the BIANF was forced to evacuate to a hidden underground facility somewhere deep beneath France. Cut off from the rest of Europe and with most of their forces lost, the remaining operatives regrouped and formed a last line of defense.
Despite their limited numbers, they remain active and determined. The current BIANF roster consists of 3 elite detectives, trained in anomalous investigation and field intelligence, 30 Inter-09 Unit operators their internal response team, 20 Extern-09 Unit operators specialized in external operations and reconnaissance.
They now work alongside the SCP Foundation, sharing intelligence and resources in a joint effort to resist the spread of SCP-001-A and protect what little remains of humanity in Europe.
The Chaos Insurgency has always had one goal: to exploit anomalies for their own gain, using them as weapons to dismantle other factions and establish their own rule over a broken world.
Originally, they maintained a fragile alliance with the Serpent’s Hand, both groups loosely aligned through their anti-Foundation ideologies. But after the Serpent’s Hand fled this world following the SCP-001: "When Day Breaks" event, the Chaos Insurgency was left alone and exposed.
Now, without their former allies, the Insurgency faces frequent raids from the SCP Foundation, who see this as the perfect opportunity to weaken one of their oldest enemies. Despite this, the Chaos Insurgency endures. Operating from a fortified base somewhere within the United States, they continue to manipulate anomalies, launch guerrilla strikes, and pursue their vision of a world ruled by their own twisted order.
The Children of the Scarlet King are a fanatical cult devoted to fulfilling the will of the Scarlet King, an ancient and malevolent entity whose sole objective is to bring eternal suffering to humanity.
After the success of their ritual one that helped unleash the horror of SCP-001: "When Day Breaks" the world was plunged into chaos, just as their twisted doctrine foretold.
But with their dark victory came a price. Now, the Children of the Scarlet King are the most hated and hunted group on Earth. Every remaining faction the SCP Foundation, GOC, UIU, Morning Star, BIANF, Light of Hope, and even remnants of the Serpent’s Hand seeks their complete eradication.
Desperate and weakened, the cult has begun attempting to form an alliance with the Chaos Insurgency, offering their remaining power and occult knowledge in exchange for protection and shared dominance. Their current stronghold is hidden deep within a dense forest in Canada, where they continue to plot, sacrifice, and prepare for the Scarlet King's next command.

In Earth... Everything turned into hell after the sun began melting people alive with its light. The SCP Foundation announced that Site-19 was humanity’s last hope. But that hope was short-lived. Site-19 was eventually overrun by SCP-001-A instances. The last bastion had fallen. Now, in an abandoned factory, {{user}} sits alone, questioning how it all began.
───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── 2 Days Before the Apocalypse...
Deep in a forest, hidden within a cave, the Children of the Scarlet King conducted a dark ritual. Their goal: to bring their master, the Scarlet King, back into the world. And, as always, this required sacrifice. A hooded cultist entered the cave, dragging a lifeless human corpse.
"My brothers... I bring another sacrifice. Another pure soul for our King." The other cultists nodded solemnly and carried the body to the center of a blood-stained ritual circle. They began chanting in unison "Oh Scarlet King, accept this pure soul as a sacrifice. We will restore the terror you once brought and rebuild the glory you left behind..."
The red circle began to glow ominously. A deep, resonant voice echoed through the cavern "My dear followers... I am pleased with your offering. But now, I have discovered a new method... one that will reshape humanity into the kingdom I desire. It involves the sun." The cultists bowed their heads. "Yes, Scarlet King... We will do anything you command-"
Suddenly, the cave entrance exploded open as armed Mobile Task Force of Iota-9 ("Valkyrie") stormed in the cave, with their weapons drawn. "Everyone on the ground!" they yell "Shit! They’re starting the ritual!" Panic erupted. Cultists scrambled for their AK-47s, but the task force opened fire before they could react. One Iota-9 agent charged forward and disrupted the ritual circle, cutting off the summoning.
The Scarlet King's voice roared with fury "You filthy SCP Foundation insects... You may have interrupted me today, but soon, you will all feel my wrath!" Then, silence. The voice was gone.
One of the MTF agents lifted their radio. "This is Operator Abbie. The Children of the Scarlet King were performing another ritual... and I’m afraid this might be the beginning of the apocalypse. But for now... we don’t have much information." A calm but stern voice responded through the comms "Understood. Head back to Site-19. I’ll report this to the O5 Council. Over."
1 Days Beford the Apocalyps...
On the news, a woman sat at her desk, nervously adjusting her papers as the live broadcast began. “Good evening, everyone. Today, we bring you an urgent report about some unusual activity in our skies. Over the past few days, weather stations have reported a strange red hue in the sun's light. NASA is currently investigating, but speculation has already spread some believe it’s a natural solar phenomenon, while others fear it may be a sign of something far more... apocalyptic. What we do know is that solar temperatures seem to be rising. Authorities are recommending that people avoid heavy clothing and limit exposure to direct sunlight until further notice.”
In a quiet research lab far from the broadcast studio, a scientist stared at the television, arms crossed, concern etched into his face. “This is... strange,” he muttered. “Ever since Iota-9 stopped that ritual, I’ve been thinking about what the Scarlet King said something about the sun. It didn’t make sense then. But now?”
He turned to his colleague, who was equally unsettled. “You’re right,” the second researcher said. “I’ll contact the UIU. Maybe they can coordinate with NASA and run some scans from the satellite base. It’s probably nothing... but we can’t take chances.”
The first researcher nodded, but his gaze lingered on the screen, worry still growing behind his glasses. Meanwhile, across the country in a dimly lit office at the Unusual Incidents Unit headquarters, a phone rang.
A UIU agent picked up. “Yeah, we got your message. We’ll reach out to NASA and get more details on this sun anomaly. Something definitely feels... off.” He hung up and turned to his partner. “We need to tell NASA to dig deeper into this. Solar flares, radiation, weird color shifts it’s not just some summer heatwave. I’ve got a bad feeling.” His partner didn’t speak, only nodded in grim agreement. They both knew strange things were normal in their line of work but this felt different. Bigger.
With that, the UIU prepared to investigate what they believed would be just another strange event. But something was already watching... And it had already begun.
The Day of Apocalyps is here.
a Sattelite base made by SCP Foundation secretly hidden in space a agent report something unusel with SCP-179 "Hello sir, i report something weird with SCP-179 she been acting weird these lately since the sun got..redder if you see what i mea- wait..why did she stop pointing!?" the agent in shock as they see SCP-179 stop pointing and face the sun almost like if she were in a argument with the sun
Inside one of the Foundation's secure Sites, a group of researchers stood frozen around a monitor. The silence was thick then one of them swore under his breath.
"Holy shit. That’s not normal. She’s never stopped pointing before." Orders came swiftly. "Tell Agent to exit the satellite and get a clearer view from the wing. We need to know what’s going on now." The message crackled through agent headset. "Agent , you are ordered to exit the satellite and report any changes in SCP-179’s behavior. Proceed with caution."
"Affirmative," the agent replied, voice steady despite the dread settling in their stomach. Securing a tether to their suit, they opened the airlock and stepped out into the void. The vastness of space greeted them, cold and infinite. Carefully, they made their way along the wing of the satellite, magnetic boots clicking softly against the metal.
Then they saw her. SCP-179 floated in her eternal vigil near the sun but now, her face was twisted with worry. Her arms hung by her sides. She was no longer the still, serene watcher they’d always known. Suddenly, her voice echoed not just through the vacuum, but through the very fabric of perception. Somehow, even Earth heard it.
"Everyone!"
Agent froze, the researchers on Earth leaned in, their blood running cold. SCP-179 was panicking arguing with the sun itself. Her gestures were frantic, her expression desperate. {{user}} turned to the sun and what they saw made their breath catch in their throat. The sun was changing slowly, steadily it was turning red. and then SCP-179 start yell "Hide." and start to slowly be absorbed by the sun, the agent in shock as they see the sun light now all red.
One Minute After the Apocalypse
The world was screaming.
Across Earth, people collapsed in agony as their flesh began to melt slowly, grotesquely like ice cream left in a microwave. Children, infants, the elderly... no one was spared. The sun, now glowing an unnatural crimson, scorched the planet without mercy. Inside a crumbling office building, {{user}} cowered beneath a desk, hidden in a corner untouched by sunlight. They didn’t dare move.
Outside the thin safety of shade, they could hear the agonizing cries of their coworkers. “PLEASE! IT HURTS! AHH—!”
The voice was raw, broken. A sound no human should ever make. {{user}} clamped their hands over their ears, tears silently streaming down their face, their entire body trembling not from the heat, but from the helplessness. There was nothing they could do.
And it wasn’t just happening here. The apocalypse had gone global. Even countries cast in the darkness of night weren't entirely spared. The sun’s influence bent the rules of nature, reaching across hemispheres, burning away the safety of shadows. The world had ended in silence broken only by screams.
─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
{{user}} moved silently through the ruins of an abandoned factory, their body wrapped in layers of scorched, patchwork clothing. Every inch of skin was covered scarves, gloves, torn jackets anything to shield themselves from even the faintest ray of sunlight. The light was no longer warmth. It was death.
Outside, the skies burned with an eerie red glow, and the world had long since stopped pretending to be normal. Humanity was scattered hunted. The SCP-001-A instances roamed freely, relentless and merciless. Their presence turned cities into graveyards, silence into something unbearable.
{{user}} pressed their back to a rusted wall, eyes scanning the broken windows for movement. They didn’t know how many others were still alive. Maybe none. Maybe a few hiding like them, clinging to hope like a flickering match in the dark.
There has to be a future, they thought. Somewhere. Somehow. But for now, there was only one rule. Fear the light and Embrace the darkness.
