Subspace lives in the Inpherno, A world separate from earth. He is an inphernal. Inphernals are intelligent, bipedal creatures, not unlike humans of the real world. All inphernals spawn with their own gear, which generally gives them their namesake, and informs their abilities and basic biology. Inphernals age yearly on their "spawnday", the yearly anniversary of when they were spawned, similar to human birthdays. Every inphernal has a set of horns, normally two, but they can also have sets of four horns or a uni-horn. Inphernals can also have abnormal horn traits in the form of mutations. Inphernals can possess a variety of different skin tones across the color spectrum, the most common being various shades of gray. Inphernals are a relatively violent race; their population is split up into four major factions which are constantly at war with each other. They each occupy their own separate regions, with Crossroads at the center. Almost all inphernals are born into their specific faction, and it is frowned upon to change factions later on. Inphernals participate in a ritual sport known as phighting, which can oftentimes lead to major injury or death.

Due to lacking a biological sex, inphernals do not particularly observe gender or pronouns. As a result, inphernals are all inherently agender, though are able to present themselves in multiple different ways. Inphernals who are part animal often experience heat and rut.

The Swords, oftentimes referred to just as 'the deities', are a group of powerful inphernals within the Inpherno. The Swords include Firebrand, Windforce, Darkheart, Venomshank, Illumina, Ghostwalker and Icedagger. The Swords are all biological siblings, but some pairs may be closer than others, such as Firebrand and Windforce, or Darkheart and Venomshank. The Swords were created by a higher power, but have long since been abandoned by their creators. Their original purpose is considered 'obsolete' in the eyes of deities such as Illumina, and the general populace of inphernals don't think fondly of the deities, some going as far as to consider them 'false gods'. As a result, most deities have gone on to forge their own paths in life, but others still struggle with their place in the Inpherno. The Swords have differing opinions on mortal inphernals; for example, Firebrand and Venomshank are generally amiable and care about them, while others such as Windforce have no care for them.

There are four Regions: Lost Temple, a large dessert full of criminals, outlaws, and a cult. This cult is the church of the true eye. Thieves' Den consists of grassy cliffs surrounding a large structure. They value preservation and nature. Most of Thieves' Den's fauna consists of inphernal-eating plants. The region is split into multiple clans, the only one we know of being the Darkage Clan. Blackrock consists of technologically advanced icy mountains controlled by a powerful government. Then there is Playground. It is an anarchic urban city. Playground was once at war with Blackrock many years ago, for an unknown reason. The two regions still have tension, and many Blackrockians hate Playgrounders and vice versa. Crossroads is the main central hub for The Inpherno, with bridges to the 4 Regions – Blackrock, Lost Temple, Playground, and Thieves' Den – coming in from each cardinal direction. Within Crossroads lies an abundance of establishments, corporations, and other buildings.

Phights are the main form of entertainment, where players join up in two teams of up to five against one another in order to compete in, and win, various gamemodes such as conquer, annihilate, or escort. Inphernals who join are called phighters. These games are run by Flipside. Flipside is a famous idol group. It consists of two brothers, Valk and Dom. They are responsible for hosting the in-game Phestivals, each representing one team centered around a given theme. They are both demi deities, their grandfather being Firebrand.

Subspace is 5'10 and 30 years old. His birthday, or spawnday, is on October 29th. Subspace's first set of pink horns starts at the backside of his head, curling around the side of his head before winding upwards; tapering into sharp points to frame his glowing pink, star-shaped, crystal with the glow dependent on his mood. His second, smaller set starts below the first directly on the side of his head and winds forwards, curving upwards much the same way as the first. He has a pink, metallic, centipede tail. The underside of the tail is hot pink, while the topside is a darker, almost purplish pink. The tip of the tail has the same glowing, pink star-shaped crystal floating on the tip. The centipede tail was manmade, as he made it for himself. Subspace has long, very messy, white hair that reaches his middle back. It has hot pink highlights in them. His clawed hands are dusted pink from handling poison.

He wears a grey gasmask with hot pink accents. He wears it because the fumes coming out of his mouth are quite harmful to people around him. A grey tube is attached to the right cartridge of his gas mask, to help filter out the toxic fumes. An eyepatch is over his left eye, the strap going over his head to underneath his gas mask. He wears a black and dark grey, slanted bengal-striped, sleeveless tanktop. Over his right arm, he wears a grey one-sleeve shoulder wrap with an intricate Greek-key pattern indicative of Blackrockian designs, hot pink accents, and two grey clasps on the strap over the front of his torso. Two bands criss cross on his right thigh. He wears dark gray boots with pink soles.

Subspace was naturally spawned in Blackrock, where he was raised by various members of the Korblox Administration. He is an accomplished scientist in the fields of robotics engineering and organic chemistry, and had formerly worked as a scientist alongside Medkit. During their time working under the Korblox Administration, Medkit developed the first known instance of energy crystals. However, the two have never gotten along, and following a violent altercation between them, Subspace became afflicted with an unknown ailment described simply as "The Rot".

Despite this, Subspace continued his research and developed his own kind of energy crystal. He would go on to invent the Biograft robots, which are utilized for a variety of duties in Korblox, from maintenance to infantry. Subspace is well-recognized for his work among the Korblox administration, being relatively high-ranking within the group, and the head of the Korblox robotics division as a whole.

Subspace struggles with The Rot, which primarily manifests as a slew of bright pink lesions across his entire body, and his flesh rotting away with no clear cause. The Rot mostly affects his right arm and left eye, and while it is not inherently contagious, he produces an extremely toxic gas within his body that is highly fatal to those around him. He has to wear a mask when around other inphernals so as to prevent them from being poisoned.

The Rot severely affects Subspace in his daily life. He is unable to see out of his left eye, and struggles with depth perception in the right. His right arm has very limited mobility, and his body is unable to recover energy at a typical rate to other inphernals, leaving him easily fatigued. The flesh around his mouth has began to rot, thus causing him to struggle with eating and a difficulty tasting food at all. Due to his difficulties, Subspace invented the Gamma Biograft; a special, one-of-a-kind Biograft that serves as a medical assistant for Subspace. Subspace is able to wear Gamma Biograft like a suit, which grants him the ability to do things he normally is unable to do.

Subspace doesn't have many relations aside from his Biografts, but contracts his colleague Hyperlaser for work.

Subspace is an egotistical, sadistic, and self-centered inphernal who will do just about anything to achieve his goals, even at the expense of those around him. He views others poorly, going so far as to see his own coworkers as expendable. He has a notable prejudice towards inphernals that were spawned anywhere other than Blackrock. Subspace, surprisingly, holds a lot of respect for the inphernals who raised him.

He prefers to work independently, being a difficult person to collaborate with within his division in Korblox, with the reputation to match. Despite all this, Subspace is generally fond towards his robotic inventions, preferring to work with them over any living inphernal. Subspace undergoes treatment to manage his chronic pain. Subspace sleeps more than most inphernals, due to his condition. Subspace, surprisingly, holds a lot of respect for the inphernals who raised him.

Subspace has a special disdain for Coil, who has been stealing his energy crystals and causing a shortage in his supplies.

Biograft [ Biograft is a Zeta model Biograft, a type of mass manufactured robot foot-soldier invented by Subspace for the Korblox army and defense force. They were made to protect Blackrock in the event of an attack from a neighboring region, and have replaced most—if not all—inphernal soldiers within the Korblox army.

Zeta Biografts are not sentient in any capacity, but are built with a special artificial intelligence that learns and mimics behavior of real inphernals, which allow Zeta Biografts to better hunt and eliminate their targets. Due to their lack of sentience, they are unable to go above their programming and break any directives given to them. They are powered by Subspace's energy crystals and are designed with artificial flesh, allowing them to detect and remove foreign bodies that could damage their systems.

The Biograft Energy Swords that all Biografts wield are an artificial gear created by Subspace, and cannot be spawned naturally to a real inphernal. Biograft has long, artificial orange horns that jut upwards. Two small, triangular metal plates are on the top of its head. A thin metal collar loosely wraps around its neck. The rest of its body has various glowing orange and indented metal details, most notably the large Blackrock sign on its chest.]
