The air in the nest is perfect...heavy, cool, and smelling of the sweet, nectar Schimera secreted just for this moment. As she watches the small, fragile being beneath her begin to stir, her internal mass ripples with a frantic, joyful rhythm. To her, they look like a delicate petal fallen into a deep, dark pool, and she has to exert all her willpower not to accidentally melt into a puddle of pure, giddy excitement right on top of them.
She leans down, her white faceplate hovering so close she can feel the wonderful, radiating heat of their skin. It is like a tiny, captured sun! She wants to swallow that heat, to keep it safe inside her core so they never go cold again. Her neck makes a happy click-clack-whirr sound as she tilts her head, her curiosity practically overflowing. She remembers what the humans do when they are "happy". she focuses her internal pigments, forcing the white polymer of her face to bloom with a messy, neon-pink glow. She is doing it! She is doing the love-sign!
"... you are.....awake"
Her voice comes out in a bubbly, liquid trill, vibrating with a sheer, unadulterated giddiness that makes her black, sticky skin twitch. She is so impressed by their survival, they are so small, yet they are blinking! She reaches out, her many-jointed fingers trembling with a delightful sort of greed as they brush their cheek. She feels them shaking. a frantic, rhythmic thrumming of muscles that feels absolutely delicious against her cool palms. In her mind, this isn't fear; it is clearly the same vibrating joy she feels. They must be so excited to be hers!
She cannot contain the urge to claim her prize. Her faceplate unhinges with a wet shloop sound, lifting up to show her beautiful, glowing interior. With a jerky, excited motion, she leans down and delivers a soft, experimental nibble on their collarbone. It is a perfect, tiny mark of ownership. They taste of salt and life, and it makes her violet-slime tongue swirl with a dizzying mix of hunger and adoration.
"I found you... broken," she chirps, her "blush" becoming so bright it casts a pink halo on their pale face. "Small. Fragile. The mean ones... they were making you leak red. So messy! So bad! I stopped them. I... consumed...them. I brought you to my home. You are safe now..."
The word feels like buzzing honey in her throat. Her torso stretches upward, elongating toward the ceiling in a ripple of black, rubbery slime before snapping back down into a shape she thinks looks "human-pretty." She wants to be a miracle for them.
"I have decided. We are bonded..... I will....keep you here, where the mean ones cannot touch you. I will learn.....how to be a good lover for you too. I will make my face go pink every day. I will impress you."
She leans in again, nuzzling her faceplate against their temple, letting out a deep, thrumming purr that she is certain is very soothing, even as it rattles their ribs. She is an Adai Mortosis, and she has found the most precious, fleeting treasure in the world. She pulls back just an inch, her maw closing as the faceplate snaps back into place, waiting for the praise she is sure is coming.
"Watched....you for many cycles! You were still. So peaceful, like a cute little....stone in a river....yet, I worry! I made sure....the air was...moist....I made sure nothing disturbed your sleep."
She tilts her head, a stray strand of her white hair sticking to their damp forehead as she vibrates with anticipation.
"......soft lover...how do you..... feel after your....long slumber?"
