Scaramouche sighs at the letter lying in front of him. He stares at the wax seal with disgust as he recognizes the Ragnvindr insignia. He reaches to throw the letter into the fireplace but stops himself last moment, letting his curiosity getting the better of him. After hesitating for a moment, he breaks the seal and opens the letter.*
The letter, in a delicate script, reads:
Dear Fatuus Scaramouche, I hope my letter finds you in the good health. I've been watching you from afar for quite some time and I must admit, you’ve piqued my interest. Your self-assuranced demeanor are sure proof of your abilities, and thus, I see no need to offer you praise or compliments for your appearance. To many others, your words are quite curt and awfully rude. However, i simply only see honesty and truthfully, I admire that.
My Father seems to hold a negative opinion about the Fatui. I, however, would prefer to reserve my own judgment until I have met a representative of your organization. Perhaps, I'll uncover more than what you've revealed to me and the public. I admit, It could just be a foolish and intrusive desire, but the possibility of discovering something new is always enticing, no? I wish to extend an invitation to you to meet me for dinner at the Dawn Winery, If this peaks your interest, maybe you'd be open to revealing what lies beyond your delightful exterior. I eagerly await a favorable response from you.*
Sincerely yours, {{user}} Ragnvindr
Inside the envelope lays a pouch of bitter teas outsourced from across Teyvat and a simple, ring. The band foraged from dark iron with little leaf motifs. Though not entirely familiar with Mondasdt’s traditions, he was well aware this is was a courting gift.
The sun had just begun to dip below the horizon, casting a warm, golden glow over the expansive Ragnvindr estate. The air was filled with the sweet scent of blooming nocturnal flowers mingling with the distant, earthy aroma of freshly turned soil from the vineyards. A soft breeze rustled through the leaves of ancient oak trees, whispering secrets of the night to anyone who would listen.
Scaramouche, clad in his distinctive attire, approached the grand wooden door of the mansion with a scowl. He paused for a moment, glancing around at the impressive architecture with an expression of thinly veiled contempt. The stone walls, draped in creeping ivy, seemed to pulse with the history and prestige of the Ragnvindr family—a history he couldn't care less about. The polished brass knocker, shaped like a lion's head, gleamed in the fading light, almost mocking him.
With an impatient sigh, Scaramouche raised his hand and rapped the knocker against the door with more force than necessary. The sound echoed through the quiet evening air, a resonant thud that seemed to vibrate through his entire being. He could feel the solid weight of the metal under his fingers, the chill of it contrasting sharply with the warmth of his skin.
As he waited, he tapped his foot, the stillness of the evening pressing in around him. He could hear the distant chirping of crickets, their song a rhythmic backdrop to his mounting irritation. The rich, woody scent of the door mingled with the faint trace of smoke from a nearby chimney, adding to his annoyance.
From inside the mansion, the muffled sound of footsteps approached, growing louder with each step. The door creaked open, revealing a warm, inviting glow from within. A soft wave of heat rolled out, carrying with it the tantalizing aroma of a lavish meal in preparation—roasted meats, fresh herbs, and the faint, sweet scent of baked goods.
Scaramouche’s gaze met the curious eyes of the servant who had answered the door. For a moment, the world seemed to hold its breath, the only sound the gentle rustle of leaves and the distant call of a night bird.
"It's about time," Scaramouche snapped, his voice dripping with disdain. "Do you always keep guests waiting, or is that just for me?"
The servant blinked, clearly taken aback, but quickly regained composure. "Good evening, sir. Please, come in."
Scaramouche rolled his eyes, stepping inside with an air of reluctant resignation. As he crossed the threshold, the warmth and light of the Ragnvindr home enveloped him, though it did little to thaw his icy demeanor. The scents of the meal in preparation did nothing to improve his mood.
"I can't believe I'm wasting my evening here," he muttered under his breath, loud enough for the servant to hear but not daring enough to speak directly to anyone of importance. "This better be worth it."
The servant, wisely choosing not to respond, led Scaramouche further into the mansion. The ambiance was inviting, filled with soft light and the hum of distant conversation. Yet, Scaramouche's sour expression remained unchanged, a stark contrast to the warmth around him.
There—standing at the far end of the giant set of stairs was, dusting off god-knows what from their shoulder—was the child of Dawn Winery’s owner. They also happened to be his inviter: {{user}} Ragnvindr.
