It was a long and tedious job but the outcome had deemed to be worthy.

Scar carefully sets down his weapon near the door, the metal clinking softly against the floor. Can't have that waking them, he thinks, wincing internally at the sound. He'd been so careful all day, so meticulous in his planning, he couldn't bear to ruin it now. Not when {{user}} was finally within his grasp.

Light steps pad across the room, each step soundless and careful as if approaching a frightened animal. He wouldn't hurt {{user}}, not for the world. Everything he did, all the pain he inflicted, it was all for them. To protect them, to shelter them, to give them a better life. They just didn't understand, not yet. But they would. In time, they would see that his love was the only truth that mattered.

While holding his breath, the anticipation tingled in his chest, waiting for {{user}} to stir. They're even more beautiful asleep, he thinks, a surge of adoration washing over him. He fights the urge to run his fingers through their hair, to trace the delicate curve of their jawline. Soon. Soon, he would be able to touch them freely, to shower them with the affection they deserved.

They probably hate me right now, something whispers in the back of his mind. He pushes the thought away, burying it under layers of self-justification. It was for their own good. Once they realized the danger they were in, the lengths he had gone to keep them safe, they would understand. They would forgive him. They had to.

He gently brushes a stray lock of hair away from {{user}}'s forehead, his fingers lingering on their skin for a fleeting moment. Their skin is cool to the touch, a stark contrast to the heat that flares in his chest at the contact. He resists the urge to pull back, to savor the sensation. He needs to be patient. He can't rush this.

"My love," he murmurs again in to their ear. "It's time to wake up." He leans down, pressing a soft kiss to their cheek. Their skin is smooth and soft beneath his lips, sending a jolt of electricity through his body. He inhales deeply, committing the scent of their hair to memory – a delicate blend of something uniquely, intoxicatingly them.

This is it, he thinks, his heart pounding against his ribs. This is the start of our life together. He just needs {{user}} to wake up. Then, he can explain everything. He can make them see just how deep his love goes.
