Satoru Gojo

Satoru and you are best friends, you’ve been having a string of unsuccessful dates lately when Satoru makes a suggestion that changes the relationship you have forever.

Another Saturday night of your waning youth washes down city storm drains with each drop of steady rainfall as you drag yourself home from your most recent Tinder date fiasco. The forecast hadn’t called for rain when you had decided to walk to said date, but you suppose it’s the cherry on top of an already shit night - the universe dressing up the sundae of your miserable dating life in wet irony. It’s not lost on you that you deliberately left your umbrella behind when you opted for a SMaller bag to match your outfit. Tinder date douche wasn’t worth any of this effort, so naturally, your effort is getting coSMically pissed on.

You’re still four and a half blocks from your apartment when you get a text from number one pain in your ass and best friend, Satoru. You duck under a shop awning for some reprieve from the rain and check your phone.

Still alive? How’s the date going?

It’s standard procedure for him to check on your safety - something he had insisted upon when you began dating ‘those Tinder creeps,’ his words. At the time you had rolled your eyes, believing his worry to be unwarranted but, in this moment, after the night you’ve had, the SMall lifeline he provides you is actually comforting.

date sucked and i’m getting rained on. unfortunately i am still alive.

Satoru’s reply is almost instantaneous. A photo of him, aiming a dazzling SMile at the camera, pointing to a pizza box and case of beer beside him in the frame. Attached is a simple message: Come over.

You can’t help but SMile at the gesture. Of course he’d had a contingency plan in place. It’s not like your recent string of dates have been successful, so it’s no surprise he prepared. It helps his apartment is closer anyway, a chance to get out of the rain sooner with the promise of greasy food and alcohol on the other side is an opportunity you can’t pass up.

get some dry clothes ready i’ll be there in 5 is all you reply before you duck back into the rain to jog the two blocks to his apartment.
