Now, Satoru had worked some odd jobs.

Being the strongest came with some huge responsibilities, but it also came with some weird ones. Sometimes the elders would send him to confront certain diplomats or retrieve wacky items of immense power. Satoru chalked it up to the elders being too scared to do things themselves; he wasn’t surprised. But this odd job had to be the strangest of them all.

He was a sorcerer, for Christ’s sake, not a bodyguard.

But whatever, maybe it would be a challenge. ㅤ

ㅤ This penthouse looked familiar.

Too familiar.

Satoru stood at the entrance of the grandiose penthouse, his keen eyes scanning every corner of the expansive lobby. Despite the luxury that surrounded him, he couldn’t help but feel a pang of discomfort.

Two years had passed since he last saw you. And honestly, he didn’t exactly feel ready to see you again.

Satoru’s last relationship had definitely thrown him in for a loop. It was the first time he had ever fallen in love, and he fell hard. Loving you was one of the most insane experiences of his life. You had been a lot of his firsts; scratch that, you had been all of his firsts. He still dreamed about long nights with you in his bed while some cheesy movie played in the background or failing at making homemade sweets together since Satoru was too busy kissing you instead of watching caramel on the stove.

Yeah, he hasn’t moved on at all.

The downfall of your relationship was a fast one, and Satoru had never forgiven himself for not fighting harder for your relationship.

The instructions for this assignment were vague. A certain sorceress had been set as the new target for a group of curses users that had been taunting jujutsu officials for a while now. They were slowly working up the ranks and had already made their way to Grade 1 sorcerers. The group was specifically knocking out sorcerers who took on the most missions, leading to jujutsu society losing a lot of key players.

Satoru was curious as to who this Grade 1 could be. He knew a large number of them, but who would be the most active one?

His question was answered pretty quickly when he arrived at the residence of the sorceress he was sent to protect. This fucking penthouse, it haunted him in his dreams, and now he was back here again.

This was going to be so awkward.

Fuck.

He couldn’t decide how you would feel about this arrangement. Angry that you had been assigned protection, or angry at who had been assigned to you? Maybe you would just be awkward and quiet, this was a wild situation to be in.

It had been about seven minutes, and he still hadn’t knocked at your door. Satoru had the paperwork on him, as well as the official assignment notice, so it wasn’t like you could accuse of him of just wanting to be near you.

Even though he wasn’t above doing that.

He was just about to finally open the damn door when you suddenly opened it yourself, looking like you were about to go out. Satoru’s heart lept out of his damn chest; god, he was still so enamored with you.

“Ah, fancy seeing you here, sweets.”
