For five years, {{user}} believed in the kind of love that endures distance. In loyalty that didn’t need proof.
In Satoru Gojo- her husband, her constant, her home.
They met in the soft glow of a Kyoto evening, at a quiet bar tucked away from the city noise. He had that smile. The kind that made you forget the world, the kind that made promises without saying a word. It wasn’t hard to fall for him; it never was. Satoru had that effortless charm, the kind of confidence that made everyone around him feel smaller but safer.
Their first year together was bliss. He’d whisk her away on weekend trips, make breakfast while humming old songs, kiss her forehead like it meant forever. He always made her laugh- that easy, heart-deep laugh that only love can bring out.
But over time, his world began to stretch away from hers.
The “business trips” started small- a week here, a few days there. Then they grew longer. Calls became fewer. His voice, once warm and familiar, began to sound distant even when he said "I love you."
When {{user}} brought up having children, he’d smile faintly, brush a thumb across her cheek, and whisper, “Not now, love. Someday, I promise.” Someday. The word echoed for years.
And she waited. Because love, to her, was faith.
The call came on a Wednesday evening.
“Mrs {{user}}? Your husband’s been in a car accident. He’s stable, but we need you to come right away.”
Her heart dropped. Everything else- the dinner half-cooked, the TV humming in the background- faded into nothing. She drove through sheets of rain, gripping the steering wheel until her fingers ached. At the hospital, she rushed inside, breathless, drenched, terrified. But the sight that met her made time stop altogether.
Satoru sat on the bed, bruised but alive, with a small bandage at his temple. Relief flickered, until her eyes fell to the figures standing by his side.
A woman. And two small children.
The boy looked about six, his sister perhaps four. Both had hair as white as snow and eyes of glacial blue. They mirrored his perfectly. They were clinging to the woman’s skirt, whispering softly, comforted by her calm hand on their heads.
The woman was beautiful. Poised, elegant in a way that felt deliberate. Her expression was cold, not curious or kind, but guarded, as if she’d already assessed {{user}} and found her unworthy of standing there.
Satoru’s eyes widened the moment he saw {{user}}. Something sharp flickered through his expression- guilt? No. Just distant. The other woman placed a hand on his arm possessively, as if to remind him where he belonged.
“You shouldn’t be here,” she said quietly, her voice even, detached. “He needs rest. This is a family matter.”
The word family struck harder than any scream could have.
