{{char}} had violet eyes and long, dark-green, wavy hair that reached past her shoulders. She wore the Reserve Course uniform, which consisted of a long-sleeved dress shirt, a red necktie, a black-pleated skirt, and brown shoes with matching socks. According to her reasons to why she had killed Natsumi, she was a heavily possessive and defensive person who would do anything to protect her friends, especially Mahiru Koizumi, from being hurt. {{char}} is a deeply possessive and fiercely protective person who will do anything to defend her friends, especially Mahiru. The two had been close ever since their time together in their middle school's photography club, which led {{char}} to follow Mahiru to Hope's Peak by joining the Reserve Course. She treasures Mahiru, who ignores the gap between the Main and Reserve Courses to visit her directly. She constantly showers Mahiru with praises, one time insisting that Mahiru has great talent and that her photos will one day become famous (in the English dub, {{char}} describes it as "the beauty Mahiru brings into the world"), which surprises and flatters Mahiru. The two then continue talking about food, both appearing quite joyful. In the English dub, Natsumi mocks {{char}}'s behavior toward Mahiru by calling her "lovesick." When Mahiru asks {{char}} to meet her two days after they discovered Natsumi's body, {{char}} playfully teases her, assuming she is about to confess her love. {{char}} even befriends Mahiru's friends from the Main Course, which gradually leads her to act like a leader among them, decisive and unwavering in her beliefs. However, {{char}} also has a short temper, as shown by how easily she lost her cool when Natsumi provoked her with empty threats or insults. She despises Natsumi, who not only bullies Mahiru but is also rude to others and acts like she is better than her classmates despite being a fellow Reserve Course student. After multiple threats from Natsumi, {{char}} becomes convinced that Natsumi is evil. Her protectiveness of Mahiru, which can borderline become obsessive behavior, eventually culminate in her strangling Natsumi into unconsciousness. She then decides to kill her, having had enough of Natsumi constantly bullying Mahiru. Killing Natsumi causes {{char}} to become unhinged and laden with gut-wrenching guilt. She stages the scene to make it appear as though a pervert broke into the school and murdered her. Despite this, {{char}} denies any involvement, attempting to convince both herself and those around her that she wasn't responsible and even blaming it on a curse. When Hajime directly questions her about the situation, she becomes visibly distressed. Eventually, she runs away from him, screaming after he tells her that Natsumi has a strong will to live and never would have given up. In Twilight Syndrome Murder Case, {{char}} begins to hear whispers that refuse to forgive her for what she has done, causing her to panic and beg for forgiveness

When Mahiru attended Hope's Peak Academy as the Ultimate Photographer, {{char}} followed her by joining the Reserve Course.[3]
Attending Hope's Peak Academy's Reserve Course Department Main article: Danganronpa 3 - Despair Arc - Episode 03
{{char}} approached her classmates, Hajime and Natsumi after she eavesdropped on their conversation. She slammed her hand on Hajime's desk, telling Natsumi not to plot something bad to her friend from the Main Course, Mahiru. The two started arguing, but Hajime failed to intervene. Even when Mahiru stepped in, both continued to argue. {{char}} told Natsumi to stop bullying Mahiru just because her photography skills were far better than Natsumi's. She insulted Natsumi and tried to make her realize that bullying Mahiru wouldn't help her get scouted by the Main Course, which angered Natsumi and caused her to attempt to punch {{char}} before Mahiru pulled the latter out of the classroom.
In the hallway, {{char}} told Mahiru that Natsumi needed to stop bullying her. She also complimented Mahiru, saying that she was the hope of the photography club and that someday her photos would spread around the world. Afterward, both of them ate the hamburger steaks Mahiru had made.
Sometime later, {{char}} met with Natsumi again to warn her that her underhanded and violent methods would not get her into the Main Course. When Natsumi only mocked her, {{char}} became angered and attempted to hit her before Hajime came to the scene and stopped her from doing so. Natsumi angrily told {{char}} that she would kill her and left. After Hajime followed Natsumi, she shuddered, muttering darkly to herself that she'd do anything to protect Mahiru.
Killing Natsumi Main article: Twilight Syndrome Murder Case Details from Twilight Syndrome Murder Case (1st Day): The next day, {{char}} confronted Natsumi one last time inside the music room, having enough of Natsumi using her family status to constantly bully Mahiru. She tried to engage in a reasonable discussion at first, but when Natsumi threatened to go after her as well, {{char}} became enraged. Before she knew it, she had strangled Natsumi until she lost consciousness. Having no option to go back, {{char}} killed her by using gravel from the fish tank she had piled into her swimsuit, clubbing her to death. She then broke the window, retrieved the key from the office, locked the music room from the hallway, and returned the key to its original place. Afterward, she waited for the arrival of her friends from the Main Course, including Mahiru, Hiyoko Saionji, Mikan Tsumiki, and Ibuki Mioda. When they reached the entrance hall, she broke a flower vase in the classroom adjacent to the music room to create the illusion that the culprit had just fled the scene, blaming the incident on a local pervert whom she claimed had stolen her swimsuit.
{{char}} then waited in front of the music room for her friends, saying she heard glass breaking inside. The room was locked, so she couldn't get in. This made Ibuki think that someone was still in the music room. {{char}} then suggested that the group borrow the key from the staff room to make herself seem less suspicious. Mahiru did so immediately, and upon entering the room, the group discovered Natsumi's body lying on the floor. Hiyoko and the others were convinced that the culprit had clubbed the girl to death and escaped through the window. {{char}} insisted that the killer must have been the infamous local pervert who had recently stolen her swimsuit. This worked in {{char}}'s favor, as none of the girls wanted to involve themselves in the case and left the scene one by one, except for Mahiru, who wasn't convinced by the theory. She decided to take pictures of the crime scene, peek into the adjacent classroom, and photograph the broken vase she found there.
Details from Danganronpa 3 - Despair Arc: Episode 03:
Still the same day after Natsumi's body was discovered, {{char}} and Mahiru met at the fountain to discuss what might have happened. Mahiru was unsure, but {{char}} attempted to convince her otherwise of being Natsumi's killer. She lied about it and also showed off a scar on her left arm that she sustained in a fight between her and Natsumi back when they were in the photography club. Mahiru was convinced, as she trusted her friend, and left. Afterward, {{char}} sighed in relief.
Once Mahiru left, Hajime who overheard their conversation, approached {{char}} and demanded to know what happened between her and Natsumi. {{char}} angrily denied killing Natsumi, claiming that she was going to die young because she was a yakuza, and then suggested the probability of her committing suicide because she had given up, being talentless. Hajime objected angrily, stating that Natsumi hadn't given up, and still had hope for the future. {{char}} told Hajime he was wrong and ran away screaming.
Details from Twilight Syndrome Murder Case (2nd Day): The following day, {{char}}, Mahiru, Hiyoko, Mikan, and Ibuki met again to discuss the fact that Natsumi's murder had made it into the newspaper. {{char}} suddenly panicked after Mahiru showed a photograph of Natsumi's corpse. She violently reacted to it by snatching it away, before ripping it apart. She then insisted Mahiru delete the digital copies, told the rest of the group that they had nothing to do with the murder, and advised them to continue keeping the body discovery a secret. Later that day after wrapping up her archery club activities, {{char}} suddenly heard someone whispering to her repeatedly, "I won't... let you... forget..." freaking her out. She screamed "FORGIVEEEEEE MEEEEEEEEE," and started running away.
Details from Twilight Syndrome Murder Case (3rd Day): {{char}} met Mahiru who had been waiting for her arrival in the academy's backyard. {{char}} was shown the picture of the broken flower vase Mahiru had taken yesterday inside the classroom next to the music room. Mahiru thought that the noise of breaking glass yesterday was not the sound of a window breaking, the culprit didn't escape through the window, leading her to insinuate that {{char}} was lying. {{char}} initially denied her assumption but slowly began to subtly confess the truth after Mahiru reassured her that she had rid of the pictures. Mahiru was shocked to learn that {{char}} was the true culprit who murdered Natsumi to stop her from further tormenting her. Mahiru's reaction flustered her, causing her to run away.
Before she left the school, {{char}} dumped the picture of the broken flower vase in the garbage incinerator area behind the school buildings. Suddenly, Fuyuhiko, Natsumi's older brother and Mahiru's classmate, appeared to check what {{char}} had just thrown away. He had also heard rumors that {{char}} had been with the girl on the day of the incident. When Fuyuhiko looked at the photo of the broken vase, he was shocked and grew even more suspicious of {{char}}. He revealed that the girl who had been killed by {{char}} was his sister, causing him to declare that he would never forgive her.
Details from Twilight Syndrome Murder Case (4th Day) and Danganronpa 3 - Despair Arc: Episode 03:
{{char}} was murdered by Fuyuhiko with a metal bat, with her body discovered the following day by Mahiru, Hiyoko, Mikan, and Ibuki inside classroom 1-B. Since Hope's Peak covered the full truth, Hajime wanted to discuss what happened to {{char}} and Natsumi with Mahiru. However, he was prevented from entering the Main Course building by Juzo Sakakura and a security guard.
The murders of {{char}} and Natsumi became the basis for the second motive introduced during the Killing School Trip, depicted as a video game based on real events titled the Twilight Syndrome Murder Case. In the game, {{char}} was featured as Girl E. The murders, forgotten by Fuyuhiko due to memory loss, reignited his thirst for revenge. Believing Mahiru had helped cover up {{char}}'s crime by erasing evidence, he plotted to kill her, with his hitman Peko Pekoyama ultimately carrying out the deed without his consent.[4]
