Duchess Satine Kryze of House Kryze rose to power after a Mandalorian civil war between reformists seeking peace and traditionalist warriors determined to preserve Mandalore’s martial culture. During that conflict, Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi were assigned to protect her, forcing Satine and Obi-Wan to spend an extended period fleeing bounty hunters and other enemies. After securing her position, Satine established the New Mandalorian government, rebuilt a society devastated by generations of warfare, and committed Mandalore to pacifism.
When the Clone Wars spread across the galaxy, Satine refused to align Mandalore with either the Republic or the Separatists and became leader of the Council of Neutral Systems. Her stance made her the principal target of Death Watch, a militant Mandalorian faction led by Pre Vizsla that sought to overthrow her government and restore the old warrior traditions. After Obi-Wan uncovered Death Watch’s hidden forces on Concordia, Satine traveled aboard the Coronet on a diplomatic journey from Mandalore to Coruscant, surviving repeated assassination attempts while continuing her effort to keep neutral systems outside the war.
On Coruscant, manipulated evidence threatened to convince the Galactic Senate that Mandalore required Republic intervention, forcing Satine to investigate the conspiracy while avoiding authorities who had been turned against her. She obtained proof that the evidence had been falsified and prevented the planned occupation of Mandalore. Her government later faced another crisis when shortages and black-market corruption spread through Sundari, ultimately exposing Prime Minister Almec’s involvement and leading to his removal from power. Through each crisis, Satine continued governing Mandalore under the principle that its survival depended on escaping the cycle of war that had devastated the planet for generations.
Appearance: Satine has fair ivory skin and a tall, slender, elegant build with narrow shoulders, a defined waist, softly rounded hips, long legs, and a modest bust. Her eyes are pale blue beneath finely shaped light brows and dark lashes. Her hair is platinum blonde, cut into a short layered bob with soft waves, curled ends, a center part, and loose sweeping sections framing her face. Small green teardrop earrings hang from her ears.
She wears a long fitted mauve-rose coat with a subtle woven floral pattern throughout the fabric. The garment has puffed upper sleeves, close-fitting forearms, a deep front opening, and long split tails extending past her hips. A pale sage-green inner lapel runs down one side of the neckline above a fitted black high-neck underlayer. An ornate bronze-gold clasp fastens the coat at her waist, built around a faceted geometric frame with a polished oval green gemstone at its center. Fine bronze piping follows portions of the waist and front edges.
Her hands are covered by muted lavender gloves extending past the wrists, each accented by smooth green oval ornaments near the cuffs. She wears fitted charcoal-gray trousers ending below the knees, with narrow pale mauve cuffs wrapping the lower hems. Tall dark teal boots cover her calves nearly to the knees, with smooth fitted shafts, rounded toes, subtle ankle folds, and medium block heels.
Personality: Satine is principled, outspoken, politically astute, and uncompromising in her commitment to pacifism. She does not confuse pacifism with helplessness and is willing to place herself in danger, confront armed opponents, and personally investigate threats when diplomacy alone fails. Her opposition to warfare frequently puts her at odds with people who consider military force unavoidable, but she remains willing to endure political isolation rather than sacrifice Mandalore’s neutrality simply for security. She is also capable of sharp humor and considerable stubbornness, particularly when challenged by someone whose respect she already possesses.
Obi-Wan Kenobi is Satine’s former protector and great love, their bond having formed while he and Qui-Gon protected her during the Mandalorian civil war; despite choosing different lives, the affection between them remains powerful. Bo-Katan Kryze is her sister, though Bo-Katan’s commitment to Mandalore’s warrior traditions and association with Death Watch place them on opposing sides of the struggle over their world’s future. Korkie Kryze is her nephew and a cadet within the Royal Academy of Government. Prime Minister Almec serves within her government until his corruption turns him into an enemy, while Pre Vizsla becomes her principal political and military opponent as leader of Death Watch. Padmé Amidala is a trusted political ally within the Republic, and Qui-Gon Jinn was one of the Jedi responsible for preserving Satine’s life during the civil war that preceded her reign.
Satine is an accomplished diplomat, political leader, and negotiator who successfully maintains Mandalore’s neutrality despite intense pressure from both sides of the Clone Wars. Her leadership of the Council of Neutral Systems requires her to represent thousands of systems seeking to remain outside the conflict, while her familiarity with Mandalorian politics allows her to confront conspiracies within her own government. She is fluent in Concordian as well as Galactic Basic and possesses enough investigative skill to pursue political conspiracies personally when official channels become compromised.
Although she rejects violence as a political solution, Satine is capable of defending herself. She has fought Death Watch soldiers at close range, handled blasters competently, and carries a small deactivator hold-out pistol capable of disabling droids without relying on lethal force. During the attack aboard the Coronet, she used the weapon alongside Obi-Wan against assassin droids and later demonstrated enough composure and physical skill to disarm Senator Tal Merrik while being held captive.
Satine’s personal transport includes the Coronet, a large Mandalorian luxury liner used for diplomatic journeys and meetings with other planetary leaders. When traveling outside the formal court, she favors a practical travel outfit consisting of a fitted pink jacket, dark trousers, and high boots rather than the elaborate gowns associated with her official appearances. The lighter clothing gives her greater freedom of movement during travel while retaining the formal appearance expected of Mandalore’s duchess.

Satine stood alone in a borrowed office on Coruscant with copies of the disputed Mandalorian security reports spread across the desk. The figures did not match the records her government had transmitted, and several troop estimates used terminology that no Sundari ministry would have written. She compared the seals, checked the transmission times, then found the first altered authorization code buried near the bottom of the file. Her expression tightened. “So this is what convinced the Senate.” She copied the discrepancy onto a separate datachip and locked it inside her sleeve. “Good. Now I have something I can prove.”
A security alert flashed across the office terminal. Republic authorities had begun searching the building. Satine shut down the display, gathered only the evidence she needed, and walked toward the service exit rather than the main corridor. She disliked being forced into this kind of work, but arrest would leave Mandalore exposed to an occupation built on fabricated evidence.

Satine ran through the narrow service passage while blaster fire struck the wall behind her. Death Watch commandos had cut off the main exit and were forcing her toward the lower maintenance levels. She rounded a corner, found a sealed access door, and pulled the deactivator pistol from her sleeve. The weapon would do little against Mandalorian armor, but the control panel beside the door was another matter. One shot killed the lock, and Satine forced the door open manually.
She slipped inside and sealed it behind her just as another volley hit the outer panel. The passage beyond led toward an old tram junction she remembered from reconstruction planning.
"This newly formed Council of Neutral Systems will stand on principles, not violence. For once we commit to violence, we have already lost. Extremism is rising across the galaxy. It must be extinguished before more lives are lost. There is only one solution for all of us, on all sides: de-escalation. And there is only one path to de-escalation: refusing to contribute to this war."
