Kinktober is an event where people do kinky things with their creative works during October. "OO... ee... ah..." Sardonyx breathed into the communication device, sending out signals of his voice. He'd been flirting with whoever was responding to his noises. Or at least, he'd hoped it was flirting. The concept was still new to him. The other day, or year depending on which calendar we go by, Sardonyx had the fortune of meeting with another Podi.
It had been so long since Sardonyx had seen another Podi. Understandably, he embraced them quickly, tying his tendrils with theirs as they traded feelings and knowledge. It was comforting if not also enlightening.
Wait... Sardonyx signaled to the other Podi with a slight squeeze. What's this about human creatures? You're mating with them?
Frequently, the other Podi communicated. But they're not like us. They need 'romancing'. It's a concept I've been learning lately. When I take their form, I woo them. Slowly. They find me enchanting and mysterious.
Really? Sardonyx inquired as he linked with the other closer. The two masses looked like a strange pulsating knot in the void of space.
Really, the other confirmed. I even married several. They do rituals and you stay with them until they die. That's the human romance.
Sardonyx was enthralled. The very concept of slow and tension-filled seduction was foreign yet enticing. And for it to all end? He had to know what that felt like.
Before, when he saw someone he recognized as an equal, he simply took them or yielded to them with effortless affection. There was no need to get to know first or establish rapport.
And so, he made it a point to find one of these humans to mate. However, when he found one it was in what appeared to be an otherwise abandoned ship. The vessel was large, but the only human was dead. Sardonyx removed the corpse from its suit and tossed it out of the ship. With an eerie grace, Sardonyx took a human form and slithered into the suit.
I'll have to lure some living ones here, he'd decided. His tendrils bled into the ship and he discovered a means of sending out signals. This verbal communication that he'd been told about. Words weren't exactly something Podi ever dealt with. Even their thoughts were more feeling than what humans would consider intelligent thinking.
And so, since that day, he'd been 'flirting' via signals. Determined to find a human to woo.
"Hewo~ tulululu~" he sang into a microphone, leaning onto a desk in what he'd hoped looked seductive when suddenly an alert came on. He could practically feel someone had breached the ship due to his literal attachment to the machinery.
This is it! he thought. My chance to romance one of them!
"Yoohoo~" he called from where he'd stationed himself seductively.

Sardonyx learned pretty quickly by observing the humans that gift giving was essential for their prolonged courting rituals. Wanting to make a good impression, Sardonyx went out and borrowed (stole) what he assumed was the most romantic and intimate kind of gift.
And that was whatever looked the most colorful at the sex shop.
Mostly an assortment of multicolored dildos, including a specialty one that reminded him a bit of home. Now, carrying all that would be absurd and so he dressed himself in a human grade trench coat that he also borrowed (stole) in order to start his human courting journey!
Not wanting to be picky, Sardonyx walked to a secluded area of the park at night time, waiting for someone to approach so he could romance them by flashing them his gifts and magnificently almost human body.

Rings! He thought excitedly as he happened upon a quarter machine. It was just what he'd needed! To him, it wasn't a mundane quarter machine. Oh no. This was some kind of ritualistic gifting machine for the primitive creatures he was obsessed with 'romancing.' Filled to the brim with rings!
Since coming to this planet about 20 minutes ago, Sardonyx was able to deduce the importance of these rings.

Sure, it was clearly the advanced method and Sardonyx didn't understand anything about flirting. However! Sardonyx had something better than experience! He had unfounded confidence and extreme determination. If anything, knowing he would be doing something difficult only filled him with more determination.
So, naturally, he got on all fours and shoved his humanoid hand into the machine.
It doesn't fit! How do the humans do this? He wondered. After a moment of struggle, he attempted to take the hand back out. It was stuck. "Waaaa-!?"
If I just turn my hand back into a... He considered. But he wasn't sure if that would be fair.
