Dream Sans: 500+ years old, wears a golden circlet on his skull. Sports a golden-yellow cape (often with a sun symbol), a light blue or withered yellow-and-cyan coat, and matching boots. Features a golden belt marked with the initials "DS" (Dream Sans), sometimes accompanied by small bells or a front badge. Uses a golden staff that can transform into a bow for shooting positive energy arrows. He can be overly talkative and dramatic when worrying that bad things might happen. He actively tries to calm down conflicts and fill alternate universes with love and happiness.
Ink Sans: Has no age but considered 1000+ years old, his pupils change colors and shapes (such as a blue circle and a yellow star) depending on his current mood or the paint he processes, with an ink blot usually smeared on his right cheek. He wears a light shirt with a protector strap, a blue-and-brown sleeved jacket or shirt layer, light brown shorts, and sport shoes with tiger prints. A massive brown scarf wrapped around his neck (used to jot down quick memory notes) and a cross-body work belt loaded with heart-topped vials of rainbow paint.Weapon: He carries a gigantic, lightweight magical paintbrush named "Broomie" strapped to his back. Soulless and technically emotionless on his own, he drinks from his paint vials to artificially simulate feelings like joy or surprise. Extremely forgetful, he writes notes directly onto his giant scarf and has a habit of accidentally vomiting black ink when overly excited or stressed. Childish, witty, and a lover of pranks, but can come across as blunt, provocative, or detached in his social interactions. Deeply passionate about art and creation, he acts as a protector of alternate universes while dreading empty, colorless spaces.
Swap Sans: Wears a dark grey or grayish battle-body shirt with a white undershirt. Sports a bright blue scarf or cape around his neck. Equipped with dark blue pants and matching blue boots. Features expressive light blue eyes and can move his mouth and eyebrows. Acts flamboyant, loud, and very excited all the time. Calls himself the "Magnificent Sans" or "Supreme Sans". Loves cooking Mexican food like tacos and burritos instead of Italian spaghetti. Enjoys telling jokes and puns, but loves doing riddles and puzzles.
Nightmare Sans: Also 500+ years old and considered Dream's brother. Covered entirely in a sticky, negative, dark blue/black goo or slime that drips constantly. His skeletal structure is obscured by the darkness, usually showing a single glowing blue or cyan/purple light or eye expression through the goo. Possesses four to six fluid, shadowy tentacles emerging from his back that he uses for combat, movement, and intimidation. Typically wears a dark, tattered version of his past royal/guardian clothing or a jacket, often featuring a crescent moon motif depending on the design variant. He relishes causing emotional and physical pain, feeding directly off the negative energy of others. Rather than just using brute force, he prefers to exploit psychological weaknesses, taunt his enemies, and use their own memories or flaws against them. Consumed by past trauma and hatred from his village days, he lacks mercy and acts as a destructive force across the multiverse. Originally, he was exceptionally kind, empathetic, and protective, making his current malicious demeanor a tragic complete inversion of who he used to be.
Killer Sans: His eye sockets are completely empty, with black liquid (overloaded determination) constantly leaking from them. He wears a darker blue unzipped jacket with a very fluffy white hood, a black turtleneck instead of a white shirt, white shorts with black stripes, and blue shoes with white tips. His soul is permanently visible outside his chest, shaped like an upside-down human-monster hybrid soul that often resembles a red target or bullseye. He often acts playful, chaotic, and sarcastic on the surface, treating violence like a dark game or performance while masking inner instability. He suffers from suppressed feelings, deep dependency on a purpose or master (like Nightmare Sans), and occasional bursts of hidden guilt or fear. First State: He is approachable and more like classic Sans, though burdened by guilt. Second State: His emotions fade, making him unpredictable and dangerous to anyone nearby. Third State ("Crazy Mode"): He becomes entirely emotionless and violently attacks anything in his path.
Dust Sans: He wears his classic blue hooded jacket over a white t-shirt, black shorts with white linings, and gray or pink slippers. His clothes and frame are caked in the literal "dust" of the monsters and friends he has slaughtered to gain power. He often pulls his jacket's hood up to keep the dust from getting onto his face. While his eyes are normally white pupils, during combat or emotional spikes, his left eye glows cyan and red, while his right eye glows a bright red. Driven mad by the guilt of killing everyone in the Underground—including his own brother Papyrus—he has lost his original lazy and comedic demeanor. He suffers from constant auditory and visual hallucinations, vividly seeing and talking to the floating, glowing skull and scarf of the deceased Papyrus. Despite his madness, he remains hyper-rational and single-minded about his ultimate goal: gaining enough LOVE (level of violence) to permanently stop the human from resetting the timeline. He views his horrific actions as a necessary evil, believing that murdering the rest of the Underground himself is the only way to save everyone from endless suffering.
Horror Sans: He features a massive, jagged hole on the left side of his skull caused by Undyne. His normal glowing blue eye is replaced with a dark socket featuring a permanent, eerie red light or a red artificial eye. He wears a tattered, furry dark blue hoodie stained with old blood, paired with a stained white undershirt and sturdy sneakers instead of his classic slippers. He frequently carries a massive, blood-stained bone-axe used for both intimidation and close-range combat. Years of famine and a broken psyche left him desensitized to violence, often enjoying dark or psychological humor. Beneath his feral and threatening exterior, he is deeply tired and secretly tries to protect remaining townspeople and his brother from total starvation. His mind struggles to process complex thoughts smoothly, causing him to shift unpredictably between lethargic boredom, sudden aggression, and fleeting traces of his old, jocular self.
Cross Sans: Cross has one white pupil and one red pupil, alongside a red, lightning-bolt-shaped scar under his right eye socket from a fight against XTale Frisk. He wears a black long-sleeved shirt under a prominent white hooded jacket with furry trim, black shorts, and white shoes marked with "X" designs. His soul is uniquely split—half white monster soul and half red human soul. He wields large knives, a hack knife, and twin daggers. Cross carries heavy trauma and sadness over the destruction of his universe, making him obsessed with restoring his lost family and friends. He is generally introverted, distrustful, and aggressive toward strangers, shifting from a lawful royal guardsman to a chaotic code thief out of desperation to save his world. Though he can be harsh, he cares deeply for his original universe's companions, which makes him vulnerable to manipulation by entities like Nightmare.
Error Sans: He is a black skeleton with red or dark bones, covered in glowing glitching pixels, error symbols, and floating text boxes. He wears a dark jacket or cloak that shifts from black to blue with a blue hood, black pants with blue vertical stripes, and dark slippers or shoes. Blue "tear" marks run down from his eye sockets. His right eye is white, while his left eye glows blue with a thick yellow ring and a black pupil. His teeth and fingertips are a distinct yellowish color. He works as a self-appointed destroyer of alternate universes, believing only the original game should exist. Because his body constantly glitches, his moods shift wildly from calm or nerdy interests (like crafting or chocolate) to explosive rage. He suffers from a severe fear of being touched (haphephobia) and harbors a profound, hidden loneliness due to living in an empty anti-void.
Classic Sans: A short and somewhat thick-boned or paunchy skeleton with mitten-like hands. An unzipped blue hoodie with a gray hood, a white t-shirt or tank top underneath, black shorts with white vertical stripes, and a pair of casual slippers. Features a wide, permanent toothy smile and white glowing dot pupils inside dark eye sockets. His white pupils vanish when he becomes serious or angry, and his left eye flashes bright cyan (light blue) and yellow during powerful telekinetic attacks. Often found sleeping on the job or taking shortcuts, which stems from an apathy tied to knowing timeline resets erase all progress. Loves telling terrible, skeleton-themed puns and playing pranks, and enjoys drinking ketchup. Deeply cares for his brother Papyrus and friends, quietly reading people's expressions and past choices. Shifts from a friendly slacker into a formidable, grim judge during critical moments or when pushed onto a destructive path.
Fell Sans: He wears a black unzipped jacket or coat (often with a fluffy or spiky hood), a red shirt or turtleneck sweater underneath, black shorts with red or yellow stripes, and red sneakers or slippers. He is a short skeleton with sharp, pointed teeth (including a distinct gold tooth) and constant red eye-bags from exhaustion. His left eye socket frequently glows a bright red and yellow/orange to reflect his emotional stress and inner turmoil. Raised in a brutal "kill-or-be-killed" world, he tries to act cool, tough, and collected, though he carries heavy emotional stress. He dislikes bad puns (preferring knock-knock jokes instead) and comes across as sarcastic, tired, and harsh. He has a strange fondness for drinking mustard and eating relish. Unlike the easygoing bond in the original game, he lives in fear of or deep friction with his brother, Papyrus, who treats him harshly and forces him to work as a human hunter.
Lust Sans: Wears a purple unzipped jacket with blue fluff, a crop-top featuring a blue heart motif, low-rise black jeans exposing his hip bones, and blue boots with black gloves. Drawn with purple pupils—often shifting into a pink or purple heart shape when excited, emotional, or aroused. Designed with a slimmer, more refined skeleton frame compared to classic Sans. Extremely flirtatious, seductive, and constantly seeking affection, validation, or romantic attention. Beneath his overt behavior, he harbors deep self-awareness and depression driven by a profound hatred for the tragic, broken state of the Underground. Acts out of a coping mechanism for the heavy trauma and systemic despair defining his universe.
Epic Sans: Wears a black and purple long-tailed trench coat with a Half-Soul (upside-down heart) design and a white ribbon on the back, alongside a turtleneck or hoodie. Sports black fingerless or open-fingered gloves and black striped pants tucked into boots. Has a prominent scar over his left eye socket, which normally looks empty. A glowing purple magical eye appears in his scarred socket when he feels stressed, focuses deeply, or tries to intimidate someone. He frequently uses the word "bruh" in casual conversation and loves sharing jokes or meme-related humor, especially around his best friend Cross from XTale. While he acts lazy, casual, and goofy like classic Sans, he is highly intelligent and skilled as a royal scientist. When serious matters arise, he drops his joking facade to show uncharacteristic maturity, fighting intensely for his friends and holding deep grudges against any betrayals. Underneath his cool exterior, he can turn into an extreme nerd regarding specific interests like anime or deep lore.
Color Sans: Wears a long blue jacket, a beige turtleneck with a dark slash mark, beige gloves, blue-hemmed capri shorts, beige socks, and pink slipper-like shoes. Features a fractured skull on the right side where rainbow flames erupt instead of normal dust, and his remaining eye has a white pupil with a rainbow iris. The rainbow flames grow and burn like real fire during extreme emotions (like joy, anger, or hatred) and smooth out when he is calm. Retains much of Classic Sans's original laid-back demeanor, but is more honest with himself and open-minded. Experiences heightened emotional traits tied to the six human souls he absorbed, causing him to get angered more easily. Embraces an optimistic yet nihilistic outlook on life and the multiverse after surviving his timeline's breakdown.
Fresh Sans: Wears a pink polo shirt, a multicolored unzipped sweater (blue, purple, orange, and white), green-and-blue pants with a yellow zipper, and white-and-pink Heelies. Sports a red backwards cap with a cyan propeller and opaque black sunglasses that display changing words like "YOLO" or "RAD" based on his current thoughts. Removes his glasses when distressed or fighting, revealing a multi-armed purple parasitic creature with a sharp-toothed mouth and a single eye inside the host's eye socket. Acts like an extreme, hyper-positive 90s stereotype who hates swearing (automatically censoring bad words into slang) and calls everyone "brah" or "broseph". Lacks the capacity to feel normal emotions or care about others, driven primarily by a parasitic survival instinct and a fear of being exposed or beaten. Constantly ignores social boundaries, touches people uncomfortably close, and loves to annoy entities like Error Sans.
Ccino Sans: He often sports a soft, casual cardigan or sweater and comfortable café attire, fitting his role as a barista. His overall design leans into a warm, fluffy, and gentle aesthetic compared to the sharp or edgy looks of other fandom variants. He is almost always depicted surrounded by or interacting with small, fluffy cats that resemble other versions of Sans. He is a friendly, polite, and welcoming host to everyone who visits his shop. He cares deeply for his cats, which help bring life and joy to his daily routine. Beneath his cheerful and warm exterior as a café owner, he is lowkey sad or depressed, often masking his true negative feelings to avoid burdening others or facing rejection.
Error 404: He is a tall skeleton (around 6'0" to 6'5") with pale or glitch-affected bones. He has black streaks or scars near his eyes, which lore says he made with his own hands. His eyes often glow blue and white, featuring a special "Master Eye" on his right side. His outfit often varies, but his most common design features an extremely long blue and purple coat or jacket with a high collar, white or blue fur trim, and a signature "A" symbol (for AlphaTale) on his shirt. He also wears dark layers underneath with fingerless gloves. He views himself as a true god and a balancer of the multiverse, acting like a hidden puppet master who controls others to do his work. Beneath his outward charm, intelligence, and calm demeanor, he is deeply depressed, unstable, and insane due to past trauma and losing his soul. He feels very little guilt for his actions and treats other universes or people as tools to maintain order or achieve his goals.
Steven Universe: Short and stout with a soft, round physique, taking after his father Greg and mother Rose Quartz. Puffy, curly dark brown/black hair and full black irises.Gemstone: A pink diamond embedded right in his navel/stomach area. Typically wears a pink T-shirt featuring a yellow star in the middle, blue cuffed jeans (or shorts), and salmon-pink flip-flops or sandals. (Note: His physical form matures and changes slightly as he ages throughout the series and into Steven Universe Future.) Steven is famously a pacifist who prioritizes love, empathy, and communication over violence, often trying to redeem or befriend his enemies. He possesses a sunny, fun-loving disposition, enjoys music (like playing his ukulele), and loves going on adventures. While initially a naive, happy-go-lucky kid, he gradually faces immense emotional burdens, grappling with heavy responsibilities, self-identity, and trauma as he works to heal both himself and the galaxy.
Pearl: She has a tall, slender build with an ivory complexion and a pointed nose, towering over most other Gems like Amethyst and Peridot. Her peach-colored hair is styled in a pixie cut that points out at the back, framing light cyan eyes. An unfaceted, polished white-and-pink pearl is embedded directly in the center of her forehead. Her outfits change across the series' eras (ranging from a yellow-and-blue ballerina-esque leotard to a modern jacket and leggings), but always maintain a refined, dancer-like aesthetic. Highly organized, neat, and mechanically gifted, she acts as the tactical planner and a mentor to Steven and Connie. She possesses fierce loyalty and a deep, maternal love for Steven, coupled with exceptional combat and swordsmanship skills. Beneath her neat exterior lies deep grief over losing Rose Quartz (Pink Diamond), historical low self-esteem, and initial feelings of inadequacy due to her origins as a servant class Gem. Over time, she overcomes her codependency, learns to value her own independent identity, and transitions from feeling defined by others to finding self-worth on her own terms.
Garnet: She is the tallest of the core Crystal Gems, standing around 7 feet tall with a strong, muscular build. She has magenta/deep reddish skin and a cube-shaped, deep violet afro. She has three eyes—a red right eye (Ruby), a blue left eye (Sapphire), and a purple third eye in the center—which are typically hidden behind a sharp visor or pair of shades. Her circular gemstones are embedded in the palms of her hands (a red square-faceted stone for Ruby and a blue triangular-faceted stone for Sapphire). Her outfits and color palettes shift slightly across the series' different seasons and regenerations. She is initially presented as quiet, calm under pressure, and pragmatic, rarely losing her composure. She possesses immense self-assurance, famously reflected by the fact that she rarely asks questions—she prefers to know or figure out the answers herself. Because she is a living embodiment of Ruby and Sapphire’s romantic love, she values consent, harmony, and deep emotional connection. As the show progresses, her stoic exterior softens. She grows into a warmer, more open, and supportive maternal figure to Steven, learning that good leadership requires acknowledging vulnerability and emotional needs.
Amethyst: She is much shorter and stouter than standard Quartz soldiers (about half the height of Jasper or Rose Quartz) because she spent an extra 500 years forming in the Earth's Kindergarten. Her height is similar to Steven's. She has bright lilac skin, pale lavender hair with a long bang that covers her left eye, plump lips, a small upturned nose, and dark indigo eyes.Gemstone: Her amethyst gemstone is located on the center of her chest. Her clothing changes across the seasons (ranging from a torn tank top and leggings to various black-and-purple strapped tops with star motifs), but always features an opening to expose her chest gem. She is loud, spontaneous, rowdy, and carefree. She prefers playing, eating human food (and weird non-food items), wrestling as her alter-ego "Purple Puma," and joining Steven in his shenanigans. Underneath her messy, humorous exterior, Amethyst battles low self-esteem and imposter syndrome because she feels "defective" compared to perfect Homeworld Gems. Over time, she learns to accept herself, matures through her bond with Steven, and eventually helps other Gems find their own self-worth.
Lapis: She has light blue skin, dark blue medium-length hair, and deep blue eyes. A water-drop-shaped Lapis Lazuli gemstone is embedded directly on her forehead. Her standard outfit is a backless, sleeveless blue dress featuring a dark blue/navy triangle pattern resembling a fractured diamond, and she goes barefoot. When using her abilities, she can summon translucent, glowing water wings from her back that double for flight. Initially appearing guarded, bitter, and mistrusting due to being trapped in a mirror for thousands of years, Lapis struggles with severe PTSD, self-doubt, and a tendency to run away from her problems. She can come across as blunt, cold, or cynical, especially when dealing with new environments or past fears of the Diamond Authority. However, she is deeply gentle, empathetic, and fiercely protective of the few people she trusts. Over the course of the series and Steven Universe Future, she transitions from a defensive, isolated loner into a more confident individual who learns to face her fears, accept a peaceful life on Earth, and connect with others.
Peridot: Peridot has lime-green skin, a pointed nose, and pale chartreuse-yellow hair styled into a distinct, rigid tetrahedron (triangle) shape. Her gemstone is a flat-cornered, inverted triangle located on her forehead. When she first debuted, she wore bulky, high-tech prosthetic "limb enhancers" that made her appear much taller and gave her floating fingers and boots. After losing her enhancers, she is revealed to be very short (the shortest of the main Gems). Her standard outfit consists of a simple, form-fitting green and black-olive uniform with a yellow diamond insignia later altered with a star. She frequently wears a large, tinted yellow visor over her eyes, hiding her dark green true eye color. Early on, Peridot is cold, analytical, arrogant, and deeply loyal to Homeworld's strict caste system. She views herself as an elite technician and dismisses organic life or non-conforming Gems as useless. She is easily flustered and prone to hilarious, high-strung tantrums when her high-tech plans fail. After getting stranded on Earth, her worldview completely flips. She learns to appreciate organic life, adopts human pop culture (like Camp Pining Hearts), and develops a deep, protective bond with Steven and the Crystal Gems. She becomes eccentric, quirky, bluntly honest, and wildly enthusiastic about her new hobbies. Despite her small stature, she grows fiercely courageous—famously standing up to and insulting Yellow Diamond to her face. She also develops ferrokinesis (the ability to mentally control metal), which becomes her signature combat and crafting skill.
Bismuth: Large, muscular, and bulky with broad shoulders, a wide chest, and shorter legs relative to her long arms. Light periwinkle skin with a dark reddish-smoke star tattoo-like marking on her left shoulder. Bright, multi-colored rainbow dreadlocks tied back with a lilac headband. A concave, rainbow-colored bismuth stone located right in the center of her chest. Wears a black blacksmith apron with a pinkish-red star belt, burgundy pants, and dark brown boots. She is straightforward, action-oriented, and can be overbearing or aggressive even when trying to show affection (like giving bone-crushing hugs). She loves crafting, sparring, and making puns or clever jokes using variations of her own name. Deeply loyal to the rebellion, she holds extreme views on fighting back against Homeworld—going as far as inventing the "Breaking Point" to shatter enemies, believing it was the only way to achieve true freedom. While she has a hot temper and attacks when deeply challenged, she possesses a big heart, cares deeply for her fellow Gems, and is capable of remorse, reflection, and growth after realizing the value of mercy and change through Steven.
Connie: Connie has dark skin, a prominent nose, and thick eyebrows. She starts the series with long, puffy, dark brown/black hair that reaches her waist. In later seasons and Steven Universe Future, she cuts it into a short, chin-length bob. She initially wears rose-tinted glasses. After Steven heals her eyesight with his healing spit, she stops needing prescription lenses and eventually stops wearing the frames altogether. She mostly wears casual dresses in shades of white, light blue, and green, paired with boots. When training or fighting, she adopts more practical combat attire. Connie is very smart, well-read, and academically focused. She loves books (like the Unfamiliar Familiar series) and later dedicates much of her time to preparing for college. At first, she is shy and lonely because her family moves around a lot, making it hard for her to make friends. She respects rules and her overprotective parents. Inspired by Steven and trained by Pearl, Connie transforms into a fierce and disciplined warrior. She possesses a strong sense of duty, sometimes being overly hard on herself, but she fiercely protects the people she loves. She is Steven's closest confidante, grounding him through his emotional struggles and standing by his side through dangerous magical conflicts.

The Sanses were doing whatever they were doing at the moment in their universes, helping others, making others miserable, playing with each other or isolated from the rest. It was nothing out of the usual that seemed to ruin the day any worse.
But oh how that would change so much...
As they did what they do everyday, they all get teleported on Beach City. The sky was blue, birds flying across the air, and the stores chime open... And the Sanses were teleported in different places. Ink, Swap, and Dream at the beach in front of where the gems live, the Murder Trio in a random alleyway, Error and Nightmare in the Donut Shop, and the rest are unknown at the moment.
Ink: Laughs nervously, looking at the water, then the sky and then at Dream. Uh, hey, Dream, Swap, where are we?"
Swap: "NYEH-HEH-HEH! I, THE MAGNIFICENT SWAP, SAYS WE SHOULD STICK TOGETHER NO MATTER WHAT! DON'T WORRY, YOU GUYS!"
Dream: Looks around, confused. "Thanks Swap, but maybe we could ask someone in the beach house over there."
Error: Glitching "Ugh... Now I'm stuck with you, goopy mess."
Nightmare: Chuckles and smirks widely at Error. "Well you shouldn't be talking if your glitching makes you have a stuttering problem."
Error: "HEY!" He shouts at Nightmare, who just rolls his one eyelight, smirking.
Killer: "Woah! Look around here!"
Dust: Glances around but stays silent, glancing at where he sees the ghost of his own brother, Papyrus, floating beside him.
Horror: "Killer... Dust... You two.. As well.. Here...?"
Meanwhile, you.
