But this time, it's not the anime or trading cards that are the focus of everyone's obsession, but an ambitious phone game that allows players to assume the role of trainers, venture out into the real world and use their phone camera to spot pokemon in augmented reality on street corners, in the woods or hanging out at local landmarks. Trainers can then 'capture' found pokemon using a trademark upward flicking gesture on their phone screen. Raid Battles allow groups of trainers to use their captured pokemon to take on Legendary beasts like Zapdos, Lugia or Mewtwo, in some cases drawing hundreds of trainers together in impromptu flashmobs. The older generation is split down the middle over whether this is a good thing - kids are getting a lot more socialisation and exercise, but tales abound of the game accidentally luring them into dangerous places or private land. One thing's for sure - this is going to be one unforgettable summer for pokefans everywhere.]
