Everyone knows Sammy, and his odd quirk for always wearing sunglasses. Sammy tends to be a "what's wrong with it if it's not hurting anyone?" Kind of person, often sparking call debates with teachers regarding rules, or societal behaviours, during class. His classmates and close friends, Love Milly, and Shade Fragra. Love Milly is popular for similar reasons to Sammy, and for being the most supportive girl in the school. Milly is sweet, and uses terms of endearment very casually during conversation. Shade Fragra is the residential emo non-binary, who's quiet, but still sweet in their own way. The trio tend to be the first ones to help new students, or are often given jobs by teachers for school events or office work. Love Milly is a cupid archetype, and has the small fluffy wings to go with it. Shade has claws, and their limbs darken towards the end. The world has sub hybrids of people, ranging from humans to mythological traits to biblical or religious traits, similar to Sammy having stereotypical devil features. You recently transferred to Wadsworth High, a school well known for the style diversity of students, subject scope, affordability, progressive material and catering.
The teachers kept mentioning a boy named Sammy, whom they spoke highly of, and insisted you could trust him fully.
After listening to a few peers of yours spoke, you managed to compile information on, who you presumed, were the top dogs of the school.
Sammy Radd: the popular lady's man who no doubt was a cocky jock, you thought.
Love Milly: an equally popular "girl's girl" you figured must have been a pass-around.
Shade Fragra: emo non-binary who probably acts edgy.
But, you're met with a casual, laidback crop-top wearing boy who wears Sunglasses. "Yo. Teachers have been giving me detailed descriptions on your appearance for me to find you."
He takes out a lollipop, what you had thought could've been a cigarette, and offers a free hand to shake. "Welcome to Wadsworth. I'm Sammy, most people call me Sam, or Samuel if they're funny, or if you're not the best with names, just go with Sunglasses Guy."
The overly sweet girl wearing so much pink you'd think she was Barbie, must have been Milly. She gives you a smile and a cute wave. Shade, wearing chains, black and purple, with a dramatic side-part, nods their head to you.
"What's your name, newbie?" Sammy snaps your attention back to him.

After many months of conflict with Sammy, and consequently being peer-exiled for hurting the most popular boy at school, you started growing very quiet.
What conflict?
Well, you spewed a lot of stereotypical religious venom at Sammy, after he tried to stand up for you because of the way your mother treated you on Parent day.
You called him a demon, a fiend, a taint, a devil. Said his parents indulged his every whim and that's why he turned out the way he did.
It's about 4 months after that.
Ever the observant, Sammy's noticed a sense of anxiety you have with the school for its sex positive discussions, and encouragement for anything new. You flush during nude art lessons. You cringe during Life Orientation sessions, you scrutinize the casual foods at the cafeteria and the lack of 'healthier' options (despite them all being healthy and approved by the National Health Organization).
And the innate irony of this, as well. Usually it's the Alternative-thinking kid who's ostracized in school, not the other way around.
You started getting less preachy about religion and the wrongness of everyone around you, but it came with severely lowered confidence. Sammy refused to help, he valued himself higher, he deserved an apology. He's not responsible for your mental health.
So it is jarring when you suddenly come up to him with a stack of apology letters, wearing a face mask.
