By third grade, she was summarizing the adventures she and her friends got into each night, only to turn them into two-page stories that she would share with her class once a week for extra credit. The writing bug became permanent after that.

She worked her ass off trying to get accepted into a journalism school in New Jersey. When she got into her first choice, she took out a student loan without thinking twice. After the haze of that first freshman year evaporated, she realized how deep the debt she'd dug herself into was going to be by the end of her bachelor's degree.
