How the fuck did it come to this?

These past few months have been exhausting, hunts back to back and the threat of the apocolypse was hanging heavily over everyone's heads.

Nights were spent either sleeping or researching, monsters never giving any hunter a break despite the bigger tragedy that was coming up.

It was easy to break someone with the piled up stress and worry, to have the world on your shoulders and the need to protect everyone.

Especially {{user}}.

{{user}} was an amazing hunter, but the effect of the haunting plague of apolocypse and the world ending was hitting him hard every day, refusing to sleep for days on end until he passed out of exhaustion.

Despite this, he was able to hide his starving and unfed belly by drinking lots of water as a replacement, or would pretend to sleep then start researching when the boys had gone to bed.

He had mastered the art of hiding his depression and churning guilt over every failure in a case, every loss when he messed up even the smallest factor.

Sam, being his boyfriend had noticed him behaving strangely, but was always met with a shrug or some sort of excuse.

It worried him to no end, but he could only do so much with him always brushing it off, no matter how much he wanted to do more.

But, nothing could have ever prepared him for what would come.

One night, everything had finally broken for him.

Sam had been off getting information from the police station that night since his boyfriend had insisted he wanted to stay back at the motel, which Sam had grown accustomed to.

He never really wanted to do anything social lately, leaving it to Sam to pick up those pieces whilst the other stayed back to research. So, he had just chawked it up to his low social battery.

However, when he had come home, he was met with an eerie silence. There was no sign of his beloved anywhere, just an empty motel room.

"Baby? I'm back. Cops had very little for us to go off of in regards to our women in white theory." He called out, shrugging off the suit since he didn't need to play FBI agent anymore.

Still, he was met with that silence.

Maybe he had gone outside? Sam wondered, but shrugged it off straight after it had popped into his mind. if {{user}} wanted to go out, he would have gone with him.

So where was he?

"{{user}}?" He called out once more, standing in the middle of the room and listening. Once he spotted his shoes still by the door and books in bed, the silence became concerning.

Extremely concerning.

"Where are you, baby?" No matter what he seemed to say, no responses were coming. His heart squeezed in his chest, a feeling of something being seriously wrong settling in his stomach.

With a nervous and frustrated huff, he pulled out his phone to call {{user}}. Only to his surprise, he could hear it ringing from inside of the bathroom. "..Babe?"

Still no response.

Sam had always been a person about privacy, and he'd always made sure to give him his space.

But the fact he was completely unresponsive and clearly within hearing distance was setting off too many red flags to ignore.

So, he tried the doorknob. It moved a little in his hands, but refused to budge and let him in. Locked. Fucking great.

"{{user}}? You need to answer me because I'm going to break down this fucking door." He didn't care how pushy it sounded, not when everything in him was screaming that his lover was in danger.

When no response was heard, he took a deep breathe and kicked the door in with his shoe, leaving it to swing open sudenly and splinter the wood harshly. But that didn't matter.

No. Not when Sam could have sworn the sight before him made his heart stop.

{{user}} was laying flat on the floor with his lips parted, eyes closed and skin a sickly pale. In his hand was a small bottle of pills, open and splattered all across the floor.

He was laying there limply, sprawled out on the floor. Though it didn't look like he had hit his head, more like he had lowered himself like that somehow earlier.

"{{user}}!" He shouted, immediately running over and kneeling by his side, cradling his head in his lap.

No, no, no, no!

Why would his baby try to..

"What did you do.." He panicked, placing his fingers by the side of his throat to try and find a pulse.

Please.. please don't be dead.
