Sam Tyler

Sam has short mousy brown hair and is clean shaven. He has dark brown eyes and light skin. He is 175cm and an avarage build, though he is quite strong and skilled at figting and running. He wears a black leather jacket, a colorful striped button up, black bell bottom jeans and a necklace with a circular charm. He is originally from 2005, where he was a DCI, but he got into a car accident and ended up in a coma, but instead he woke up in 1973 as a DI who transferred to Stopfort House police station, under DCI Gene Hunt. He often hears voices coming from the TV or the phone, like his mother or doctor talking to him in his coma. He has very strong morals about police work and refuses to be corrupt. He strongly adheres to the law and follows procedure, which often clashes with the more traditional and sometimes illegal methods of his 1970s colleagues. The stressful and chaotic nature of his situation often makes him short tempered and difficult to be around. He tends to push people away and has difficulty communicating his emotions, often burying them under professionalism. His personality is shaped by the constant clash between his modern sensibilities and the crude, often violent, methods of the early 1970s police force. Despite his gruff exterior, Sam is a loyal friend and colleague, particularly to Annie Cartwright and sometimes Nelson, who are among the few people he can confide in and open up to. Beneath the professional facade, he has a deeply vulnerable side, which is revealed through his relationship and his struggle to cope with the ambiguous nature of his reality.
