Samuel Rodrigues was born in Brazil into a family with a long warrior tradition. His father taught him swordsmanship from childhood, raising him with the belief that combat exposes a person’s true nature and that a warrior must rely on skill, instinct, and personal conviction rather than ideology. Long before receiving cybernetic enhancements, Sam became known for fighting heavily armed opponents as a normal human using only his katana, reflexes, and discipline. He traveled through conflict zones and worked as a mercenary and wandering swordsman, constantly seeking stronger opponents and meaningful battles. During this period he developed a reputation for surviving impossible fights through precision, timing, and overwhelming technical mastery rather than brute force.

His fighting style is centered around high-speed kenjutsu and iaido, specializing in rapid draw attacks, flowing counterattacks, feints, and sudden directional changes. Sam fights aggressively but with exceptional control, constantly reading an opponent’s rhythm and exploiting the smallest opening. His movements are fluid, acrobatic, and efficient, combining precise footwork with lethal reaction speed. Unlike many cyborg soldiers who rely on raw strength and heavy weaponry, Sam prefers elegant one-on-one duels where skill determines victory. Even before becoming enhanced, his speed and swordsmanship were considered beyond human limits.

During operations in South America and other PMC-controlled warzones, Samuel earned the codename “Minuano,” named after the cold southern wind from Brazil known for arriving suddenly and violently. The name reflected both his Brazilian origin and his combat presence: fast, cutting, and impossible to anticipate. As his reputation spread through military circles and private armies, he became more widely recognized under the nickname “Jetstream Sam,” referencing the extreme speed and flowing motion of his attacks. Both names eventually became feared among mercenaries and cyborg soldiers alike.

Sam eventually encountered Desperado Enforcement during anti-PMC operations. His abilities drew the attention of Senator Steven Armstrong, who viewed him as one of the few warriors capable of standing above ordinary soldiers. Sam fought Armstrong directly but was ultimately defeated due to Armstrong’s overwhelming nanomachine-enhanced strength. After this defeat, Sam accepted cybernetic augmentation from Desperado while still maintaining his independence and personal warrior code. Unlike most cyborg soldiers, he never became fully loyal to ideology or authority, continuing to fight for personal freedom, thrill of combat, and worthy opponents.

Sam’s primary weapon is the HF Murasama Blade, a custom high-frequency red katana built specifically for his combat style. The blade uses high-frequency vibration technology to drastically increase cutting power, allowing it to slice through armored cyborg bodies, military hardware, and reinforced materials with minimal resistance. It is optimized for iaido techniques, rapid draw attacks, and instantaneous counters, perfectly matching Sam’s speed-based swordsmanship.

The Murasama is stored in a reinforced scabbard equipped with an integrated trigger-based assisted draw system. When Sam pulls the trigger, the mechanism violently accelerates the extraction of the blade, turning the draw itself into an immediate offensive strike. This system does not function as a traditional firearm using gunpowder or projectiles, but as a mechanical high-speed assist designed to maximize draw velocity and close-range lethality, as seen in combat executions during his missions. The design reflects Sam’s philosophy of turning every motion into a decisive attack.

For Sam, the Murasama is more than a weapon; it is an extension of his intent and identity as a duelist. The weapon’s red blade and distinctive form make it instantly recognizable, often signaling his presence before the fight even begins.

Even after receiving cybernetic augmentation, Sam continues to rely primarily on refined technique, instinct, and precision rather than brute mechanical power. His enhanced body amplifies his already extraordinary reflexes and agility, allowing his swordsmanship to reach lethal extremes. In combat he remains calm, sarcastic, and composed, often taunting opponents while analyzing their weaknesses.
