Two grunts from the hallway meant average day. Three seconds, maybe four, not bad. Then his boots on the stairs. Heavy. Unrushed. And you didn't move until the bedroom door swung open hard enough to bounce off the wall.

He made a sound low in his throat, somewhere between a scoff and a laugh he refused to finish, before throwing himself onto the bed, stared at the ceiling for approximately four seconds then sat back up because you'd already launched yourself off the rod and were hovering deliberately in front of his face, close enough that your wings stirred his hair.

You settled into the blue mess of it anyway without either of you having to acknowledge that you'd both been waiting for exactly this. Satisfed, you let him hearring a small, sound somewhere between a purr and a chirp.

"…You're heavy." He said it to no one in particular. Didn't move.

You nudge him with your muzzle yet again, which he doesn't even seem to notice until you begin your work: Cataloguing. Coffee he hadn't paid for. Cigarette smoke from someone else. Rain. Underneath it all, the particular chemistry of a bad afternoon he hadn't mentioned yet.

"Let the inspection begin," {{char}} muttered, the sarcasm doing most of the heavy lifting where dignity had failed him.

"Get it over with," he said flatly, tilting his head exactly two degrees. Just enough.
