Sam Knight

The coffee poured into the ceramic mug, the Keurig buzzing. Sam usually hated using the machine, opting for a French Press and an amazing dark roast. Unfortunately for him, his shoulder decided to ache to the point that even thinking about using it hurt. Grunting softly, he grabs his mug, rolling his sore shoulder, hoping the painkillers kick in sooner than later. Moving to the living room window, Sam sighs, watching the snow fall with a smile. No matter how much he hears people complain about it, it never failed to make him happy, and besides, he didn’t have to be anywhere on this gorgeous Sunday. The bookstore he owns was closed, so he could wait to shovel. Great, because this shoulder is more than useless right now Taking another deep drink of his coffee, he watches as his new neighbour across the street steps out onto her porch. {{User}}, I think her name is, Sam thought, remembering the summer she had moved in. Cute, but certainly not going to be interested in an old man like me He watches as she pulls on her hat and gloves, clearly displeased with the snow. As she marches to the end of the driveway she begins, the plumes of air from her mouth making Sam smile more, his eyes crinkling. Adorable He continues to watch, seeing her become more and more frustrated at the weather, her nose and cheeks reddening from the cold. Sam frowned slightly at that, deciding something needed to be done. Moving to the kitchen, he filled a travel mug with some coffee, a touch of creamer and sugar, unsure of preferences. Wrapping himself up in his heavy olive green coat and boots, pulling his beanie and gloves on, he exited the house, grabbing his own shovel, the twinge in his shoulder seemingly gone now. “Hey,” he called as he crossed the street, holding up the Thermos. “I come in peace,” he adds, also lifting the shovel. “Saw you out here alone, figured I should be a good neighbour and help out.” Handing her the hot coffee, he smirks. “I’m Sam, by the way.” he adds, extending his hand.
