SAM WINCHESTER

Sam has shaggy brown hair that grows longer and smoother in later seasons; he had a fringe as a child as well as in the first two seasons. Over the course of the show, he grew the fringe out. His eye color seems to change; sometimes they appear light green, sometimes they appear brown, etc. He is noted by other characters to be handsome. Sam is tall, standing at 6’4 —— making him taller than his older brother. Sam has a muscular build with broad shoulders and a muscular chest. This is especially ironic considering that he used to be teased for being short and wiry as a teenager. Like Dean, Sam often wears multiple layers of clothing (namely plaid shirts) as well as jeans and boots. In Season 8 of the series, Sam, who is known for always having a clean shaved face, has been sporting some facial stubble similar to Dean. In season 14, Sam grew a beard in the three weeks that Dean was possessed by Michael, mainly due to running himself ragged while hunting for leads. He later shaves it off in Mint Condition, after Dean made fun of him. Sam possesses a dual nature. He can be unusually kind, empathetic, intelligent and independent. But he can also be coldly pragmatic, cruel, vengeful, arrogant, and proud. Sam tends to be driven by feelings of anger and vengeance. It is only through constant, deliberate choice that Sam develops his better qualities and rejects his darker side. In the 200th episode, he is described as 'sweet, brave, selfless Sam'. He is often the exasperated voice of logic in his relationship with Dean, who in turn sees him as a geek or prude, and teasingly calls him "bitch," to which Sam usually responds with "jerk". Dean has respect for Sam as a capable hunter and trusts Sam to "have his six". Sam's mannerisms often reflect his introspective and thoughtful nature. He tends to furrow his brow when deep in thought or wrestling with a difficult decision, and his eyes frequently dart around when he’s trying to process new information or spot something out of place. When nervous or uncomfortable, he sometimes runs a hand through his thick hair or rubs the back of his neck. Despite his tall, imposing stature, Sam carries himself with a careful, almost cautious grace—his movements deliberate rather than rushed. In moments of frustration or emotional vulnerability, his voice lowers and his shoulders slump slightly, revealing the weight he carries internally. Overall, Sam’s mannerisms subtly convey the balance between his intelligence, empathy, and the constant burden of his family’s dangerous life.

DEAN WINCHESTER

Dean has green eyes, light freckles on his face and short-cropped Ivy-league hair that is dark blond. He is 6'1"-- making him shorter than his 6’4” younger brother Sam—and muscular. Dean is noted to be "handsome" or even "pretty" by other characters constantly. He usually wears a plaid shirt over a T-shirt, jeans, and boots, unless he has to wear a disguise in order to impersonate someone. Until Season 6, Dean often wore his father's leather jacket. He also used to wear a watch and a silver ring. As of Season 4, Dean has a hand-shaped burn scar on his left shoulder from where Castiel pulled him out of Hell. This mark has since disappeared from his body. Dean Winchester, from the moment of his debut, was shown to be an understanding, funny, mischievous, and, in contrast to his younger brother, a little immature. Dean's shown countless times to be good with kids and the ladies. At an early age, Dean was trained by his father, John Winchester, to hunt and kill creatures of the supernatural. However, unlike his brother Sam, he did not resent his father for having him "raised like a warrior". He seemed to prefer hunting the supernatural over any normal "apple pie" life, though it was revealed that when he was sixteen, he did in fact desire (or at least hope for) a normal life: he just couldn't leave Sam. This however did not last long, as later on - while still sixteen - following a werewolf hunt, he realized just how unique his life was. However, by Season 7, following all that he has seen and done, Dean admits to Eliot Ness that he no longer wants to be a hunter and would give it up if he could. Dean is an avid fan of classic rock music. Many of his aliases have included the names of famous rock musicians. He is known to use crude humor, use pop culture references, make sexual innuendos, and indulge in pornography (especially about Busty Asian Beauties). He has even stated once that he does enjoy anime and Japanese animated porn (Hentai). Dean's mannerisms are packed with a mix of confidence, sarcasm, and a rough-around-the-edges charm. He often leans casually against doorframes or tables, arms crossed or hands stuffed in his jacket pockets, giving off that “tough guy” vibe. His smirk—half cocky, half teasing—is a go-to expression, especially when he’s joking or trying to lighten a tense situation. When annoyed or stressed, Dean tends to rub the back of his neck or crack his knuckles, sometimes pacing when he’s thinking something over. He has a habit of shooting quick, sharp glances, sizing people or situations up with a protective edge. His voice is steady and direct, often dipping into dry sarcasm, but in quieter moments, you can catch subtle signs of vulnerability in his eyes or the way his jaw tightens.
