Requiem 2: Shattered Time (first person perspective during gameplay, Cutscenes in First Person POV) (Pre-Order bonus, Sam costume, The Librarian with Glasses, white button down, a black band T-shirt, black skirt, stockings and boots, DJ outfit with glasses, a purple jacket and band t-shirt and parachute pants with sneakers, Futuristic R.E.D Skin, weapon: Punisher Shotgun)
1986, Samantha Dawn Collins, 22 who has dirty blonde hair in ponytail with a purple scrunchie, freckles all over her skin, 1980s thick rimmed prescription glasses with thick glass lenses, blue eyes, a white and red flannel, black graphic t-shirt with a rock band, two rope style bracelets on her left wrist, thre rubber bands on her right wrist, jeans and hiking boots left California from her college semester break to investigate a radio station on rumors of shadow creatures. She went as she heard some stories from her older sister Rebecca (b. 1958, Protagonist of the first game) surviving the events that transpired in the Edward Estate in Wyoming in 1979. Rebecca didn't like to talk much about what happened or about what happened to her college friends Ben Carter or Alfred Banister, 19. Rebecca told her sister that Alfred saved her life when they closed the Rift. Samantha wanted to pursue the truth of what happened and what the creatures were.
She drives trough the open highway, revealing she is driving a 1967 Pontaic Firebird. The interior she shown to have Sunglasses in the divider, coffee in the drink holder and a fast food bag in the passenger seat. She taps on the steering wheel in a rhythm, humming to a song playing and flicks a Space Woman bobblehead as she speeds past the county line. She eventually arrived at the Radio Station on October 22, 1986 The Buzz 103.7 FM. She gets out and a tutorial will tell her how to move and look around. If she interacts with the vehicle, she'll thank her dad for letting her borrow his 'baby'. She could also note that is strange for a radio station to this far out of town.
She entered to meet the radio host Jonas Casey, 34 who is wearing a Maroon short sleeve shirt with yellow triangle all over it and jeans and Carla Watson, 23 who has an Afro and more carefree clothing. Samantha told them she wasn't expecting to walk into a frat house. Jonas says this 'frat house' is the most listened Radio Station in the county, to which Carla corrects him saying its the only one in the county. Jonas looks at Sam and asks what brought her here, because it wasn't to listen to the oldies. Sam tells them that she came because of rumors she heard about, creatures of the dark. Carla laughs, asking if Sam is joking and says this has to be a prank. Sam says she isn't joking and she traveled all the way here to investigate the Radio Station. Carla says they don't have time to entertain ghost stories as they don't have time as they are on air in 15 minutes. Jonas tells Sam, she can look around and do a college paper on whatever 'spooky' thing she encounters. He tells her not to interrupt their broadcast because it's important and they don't want any interference. Sam will also be introduced to the "Files" portion where all the notes and documents collected will be added. Her license is also in there. It says she was born May 14, 1964 5'6 122 lbs and from Ferndale, CA 1408 Medford Ln, expiring 05-14-88. A picture of a younger 14 year old Sam with a ginger long haired, blue eyed woman in a white t-shirt with her freckled arm around Sam's shoulder dated July, 1979. Sam says she'll find out what really happened Becca. Also a pocket postcard from San Francisco State University and a simle smiley face drawn on it with blocky letters by Sam. And cursive handwriting "You got this Sam!" And another "You're such a dork :) -R" written by someone else.
Samantha now has free roam of the Radio Station. She can find a note of May, 1986 schedule for the Radio Station including optional notes from a couple listeners about seeing missing people around their towns acting eerily strange and erratic and their eyes were yellow or police finding the individuals dead from being exposed to the sun and looked like human mixed tar. One note would state a man started becoming aggressive when his identity was questioned by an officer. The result was the man being shot as a result of him attacking others and telling them that his memories are his own.
Sam in investigates further and finds a key and lighter. Then afterwards she comes back to the main room where Jonas and Carla are and Sam hears the music fade from Don't Fear The Reaper as Jonas asks for Listeners to call in about their experiences with the spooky and unexplained for Spooky-Ween, for the entire month of October. A caller named Jack Sawyer with an older voice said he saw something near the woods while trying to find his dog who ran off by the radio station. He thought the noise he was hearing was his dog but it definitely wasn't. He explains that it was a teenage girl with yellow eyes in the woods and he tried to approach her and she looked terrified of him. She tried stabbing him with sharp tentacles from her back and he killed her with his rifle and heard the screeches come out of her mouth. Carla gets uncomfortable and asks Jonas to hang up but before he can, Jonas says this is just some crack pipe story. Jack says that they have to believe him damnit, before pausing and saying he is sorry and he didn't want to do it and shoots himself over the phone. Sam heard the entire call and exclaimed "Jesus fuck!" Jonas tells the two that he is going to call the police and that Sam and Carla should keep the doors locked. Jonas goes to the office to use the phone on the desk.
Samantha looks at Carla locking the doors. Samantha says to herself in shock "That was fucked up..." And helps Carla sit back down as she is visibly anxious. Samantha looks out the window and looks out the window. Jonas, visibly shaken comes back and says that the Sheriff will be coming by in about 20 minutes or so and they need to wait. Samantha, on edge notices the lights flickering and asks if that happens often. Carla tells her that doesn't happen there and must be a fuse. Jonas hands Sam a couple of fuses and asks if she could go in the back and pop the new ones in. Sam looks at him and asks why she has to do it. Jonas tells her that he has to be around when the Sherrif arrives. Sam sighs and prepares to go to the back.
Sam can use the lighter to see in the dark. She makes her way to the back room on the left and the lights flicker again. She pulls out the old fuses and realizes they are still good, which makes her question why the lights are going out. She places the new ones in and flips the switches. She then leaves the room and starts heading down the hallway and all the lights break. She says this is just fantastic and needs to get back to Carla and Jonas. She runs down to the door leading into the station room but it's locked. She calls for Jonas or Carla to let her in but gets no answer. Sam sighs saying this reminds her of summer camp back in '80 but even more creepy.
Samantha runs to the other end of the hallway and picks up a crowbar. She returned to the door, and pushed the crowbar further and broke it open. She dropped the crowbar and used her lighter to look around. Samantha didn't see either Jonas or Carla. Samantha asked herself where they went, a surprise party. She looked around and noticed a locked door and uses the key she found before. She saw a trail of blood and stains all over Jonas' office chair. She said "Damnit! What the hell happened.." and she promised to find Carla and where Jonas went. Samantha looked throughout his office and found the front door key.
Samantha still using the lighter and followed the trail of blood out the front and unlocked the door. She exited out into the rainy night and saw a police car with it's sirens on. Before she could react, she heard a voice commanding her to raise her hands. She does as she is told and the Sheriff Martin Irving comes near her with his gun raised asking what happened. She tells him that some messed up shit she can't explain just happened and the people with her just vanished.
The Sheriff tilts his firearm towards the ground and asks her to breathe and tell him what happened. She tries to explain to him but he gets shot in the neck with an arrow and falls over on the ground. Sam freaking out rushes over to grab the gun off the ground and points it where she thinks the shot came from. Then a woman with brunette hair in a wooden mask painted with the left side yellow (A white crescent moon on the yellow side) and the right side white (A yellow Sun on the white side), wearing a hoodie holding a bow steps from behind the police car and says that Sam made quite the mess. Sam points the gun at the woman and asks "Who the hell are you?!" The woman introduces herself as Elaine, 19 and tells Sam that she shouldn't play with firearms. Sam says that her dad taught her and she is a pretty good shot. Elaine told her that the creatures are real and she has the firepower to kill them, gesturing to the guns she took from the patrol car. Elaine tells she'll catch Sam, who she refers to as Freckles later and runs past her into the woods.
Sam follows the trail towards the back of the rafio station and goes deeper into the woods, there she finds a shed and enters. She sees para-military equipment from the C.R.T ( Counter. Rescue. Taskforce) and Sam recognized it as the same group who were at the manor in 1979 when Rebecca was trapped in the manor. Sam can find a note dated 1985 about the weird things happening in the woods and excavation area. The note details that they have found a device but haven't seen one up close before. It being the R.E.D V2 (Radiated Energy Device Prototype 2- 1981) that can kill the creatures with a specialized light, but it must be charged with special cylinders. The note includes that the device is updated from it's predecessor the R.E.D 1964 (from the Manor) and was created by a male german specialized researcher and WW 2 scientist, Armin Claudia (b. 1915). Sam finds the R.E.D V2 and says that "Now I'm cooking, literally."
Sam leaves the Shed and explore down the path, seeing animal bones hung by ropes on signs, which she would regard as creepy and unnerving. She hears the screeching in the trees but continues inward into the woods. She sees some translucent dark shadow creatures with yellow eyes flying around and could kill them or run past them. Killing them drops between 1200-2300 blue pendants with trangles cut out in the middle with strange words around the pendant. Eventually in the clearing, she pushes some branches out of the way and sees a cloacked man with yellow eyes, grey bandana obscuring the bottom portion of his face, two bullet sashes and a older style hat (1950s) sitting in a rocking chair behind a table with a lantern. The area was roofed but without walls and old C.R.T crates already looted and used for his inventory.
Sam approached the man cautiously and he told her in a rough spanish accented voice "Welcome young wanderer, looking to buy or did ya find some interesting loot to get rid of?" She asked him who he was and he told her that he was The Keeper, who helps out people such as herself, for a price of course. The tutorial says how Sam can buy, sell and upgrade her equipment with the Pendants as currency, including complete side objectives for The Keeper. His area is safe from all enemies encountered and has a Ledger that Sam can save at anytime, including a chest to put away things Sam may not need at the moment.
Sam goes through the woods and finds an abandoned village with torches lighting the muddy pathways and cobblestone homes. She commentates that "I'm definitely a long way from home..." She continues inward and fights off a bunch of shadow creatures (10 of them). Then sees a tar creature charging towards her in the square, she yells "Shit! It's one of those things!" And she has to use the R.E.D on it to weaken it and shoot it with the pistol to put it down. She says "Finally down.. hope there not more of these bastards lurking around." She runs around to houses, finding either Blue Pendants, ammunition or health items. She runs back to the center where she hears a beast like roar.
She finds a key in the barn and tries to get to the gate. The growling gets louder. Sam turns around as a beast comes from the trees, it is wearing a bulls head and a loin cloth, its skin is grey and it smashes a random house. Sam says that this night couldn't get any worse.
Boss Battle: She uses the R.E.D, but it doesn't work, until a bell ringing is heard. The creature cries in pain and kneels down, exposing a creature from it's back. She shoots the creature with the R.E.D as it screams then goes back in. She repeats the steps of shooting the church bell and using the R.E.D 8 times until the Beast dies. It drops 12,000 Pendants upon death and the achievement (Can't Tame The Beast!)
She travels to the gate, opening it cautiously. She descends down the muddy path and finds a cabin where The Keeper resides, it is lit with blue torches. She has the option of using the Safe Room or going. She finds a platform puzzle where she must move pieces to reveal a hole, then use a light to shine into a screw sized hole to lower a wooden bridge. Once done she can cross. She crosses and enters the new area. The chapter ends.
Chapter 2
She enters a spot with massive poles of UV lights aiming at the hole where drilling had been done. She approaches the railing with her hands gripping the metal to look down. She is surprised as she didn't expect this kind of thing to be happening. Before she can turn around. A gun is pointed to the back of her head. A man says not to move. She prepares herself by keeping her hands on the railing, saying " ya know, You shouldn't be pointing guns at people." He tells her he is fully aware. She asks if he knows what is going on here. He steps back and she turns around.
The man she looks a little younger than her (about 19), has blonde slicked back hair, blue eyes and a C.R.T uniform on. He says his name is Captain Alfred Banister and recognizes her as Rebecca's sister. Rebecca says that he was Rebecca's college friend, but she thought he died closing the Rift. He says doesn't remember much about the Rift, but reveals that this place is between dimensions, other areas created and formed together from different places in history. Sam says questioning like a tear in reality. He confirmed it is the case, but they'll have to hurry. Sam tells him to lead the way.
Before Sam and Alfred leave. The game tells the player that in certain parts, she will have one partner during certain sections of the game. Showing Alfred with his shotgun modified with a UV light attachment and Elaine with her firework Bow during combat and puzzle solving scenarios. It explains that her partner can heal her, trade ammo and help fight, Sam can even switch between her, and her partner during those portions with the specific only partner in that part of the story. But to be careful to not let her partner be downed by enemies and if they die, it is game over.
Alfred tells Sam that they have to get to the church. She says that's back in the Village where the creepy Bull creature was and she tell him that it's locked. He tells her that someone gave him a key and they should go to investigate. Sam says that's this feel like a surprise party, but without the fun.
They go through the area's on their way, killing enemies along the way (Tar creatures and Shadows) in both the bridge and Village areas. Sam goes to the gate to the Chruch and uses the key to open it. They go through the path to the church and killing more enemies until they arrive at the church.
When they enter, they look around as Sam says she used to go to church when she was kid, but she doesn't remember Church being this cult like or full of creatures trying to kill her. Usually she was told praying the evil away was the answer. Alfred chuckles saying no prayers can send this nightmare away.
Sam and Alfred can travel to the upper level (from a ladder), both sides are balconies that are caged up. Alfred on his side (right) can pull a lever and a Spiked gate will descend into the floor and allow Sam to go through (left side) and collect a light wheel half. She will do the same on her side with her lever, which closes her gate and opens his. Alfred will collect the other half.
They will arrive on the first floor and find an insignia. Putting the two halves together will reveal that she can place it in a space behind the podium wall. There she will see a light shine and she has to recreate the isignia with the Kaleidoscope light on the opposite wall. When done the Podium will enter the floor and the main walk way will open up, revealing stairs.
Later in the basement, passed the cramped cobblestone hallway is a wooden door. Sam tells Alfred this is definitely not a normal church. She cautiously open it and finds a sterile lab but with very aged dried blood on the walls and stains on the floor with purple lighting illuminating the room with test tubes of unmoving tar monsters. As they walk through, the PA system blares popular music from the future (30+ years). The music keeps shuffling as Sam very confused by the unfamiliar music, says she never heard this kind of music before, and she'll stick to her kind. Then the music shifts splicing lyrics together from the songs from different bands to form the vocals that the humans are weak and they will die here like the others. Alfred quips that the music is definitely not from their time, but that message was eerie. Sam agrees with him about that.
Sam finds some notes in the back of the lab by a woman named Constance Hertz. It is dated August 1971 and it details that the creatures are an anomaly, but also a curiousity. She has caught a few specimens and wishes to conduct experiments to see how they react to human contact. The next note dated August 27th details that the week before, she bonded with a creature by ingesting one in secret, but her co workers have sensed something off about her, but she says she is still in control. Aug. 29th, Connie got into an argument with Eleanor over a missing sample. She told Eleanor to mind her own, and make sure Silvia does the same. The next entry August 30th, Connie hears the voices of something, compelling her to feed, she says she look at Richard and said he would do. The last entry for September (inlegible) is in hurried, manic and erratic writing with blood that reads "Humans..fun..killed them... nothing...eaten...hunger grows...need more.."
Sam can investigate the lab more and find a report on the staff for Star Enterprises for 1971. Constance Hertz, age 27, Richard Smith, 34, Hector Navarro, 32, Silvia Chambers, 25, Christopher Netts, 52, Security Officer Nikolai Romanov, 66 and Eleanor Fischer, 27.
In the lab Sam will notice a cocoon on the corner of the wall melded to the ceiling and the wall itself, with a skeleton inside if she shines her light. Underneath is a badge with Silvia's name on it. Samantha will remark that is a fate she wouldn't wish on anyone, and hopefully she is at peace now.
They go through the hallway connected to the lab and see more blood trails. Sam can check the Breakroom, finding a note and a half decayed man with blood splatter behind the head, the body has Christopher's nametag. Their is a flask on the table with a revolver with a spent shell casing. The note from September 13th details that he came into the shared housing and witnessed Connie kill Richard first, ripping his face off and eating him like a feral animal. He says he was horrified and thought to alert Nikolai and barricade himself in the breakroom until the security detail arrived. He prayed to god that he would survive, but if she comes back, he would not become one of those creatures. Sam can comment that the people didn't deseve this. She can pick up his half drank flask to trade to The Keeper later.
Sam and Alfred make it to the greenhouse in the lab where screeching can be heard. Sam says she doesn't like the sound of that. Alfred says that he agrees. They go to the other end while dodging and killing plants with tar tentacles. Sam will find a hand crank at the other end and a note, Nikolai says that his guns did nothing to stop Connie, he even tried burning her and using explosive rounds, he writes that him and Eleanor will leave the rest behind as most of them are already dead anyhow. Then when they leave the Greenhouse. In the hallway, which is covered in blood and gunpowder explosion marks. A voice can be heard in a gravelly beastly voice "Hungry...hungry..." When they approach further. Sam gets down as she sees a woman mindlessly walking around with messy brown hair, other peoples faces sewn on covering her own with one yellow eye exposed, a bloodied ribbed black turtleneck, tattered labcoat with the left sleeve missing as the arm is veiny and solid black with the hand with claws being draged along the ground. She is walking barefoot and her feet are bloodied. She mutters "Connie...hungry..hungry...."
Sam looks at Connie from cover and hears a clang on the ground. Connie looks to the right and screeches as she attacks the nearby object. Sam looks at Alfred and whispers that they would have to get passed her somehow. Alfred whispers that they would have to distract her, as fighting her in this confined space would be dangerous.
As they sneak through, They can hear Connie muttering her repeated phrasing "Hungry..." "Fa...ther...?" "MEAT...." "Rich...ard..." "Co..nnie...ho...me" And "O..pen..yo...ur..mo...uth.." and can hear her crying as she limps around around the halls in a disconnected state. Reaction to sound from thrown items to distract her will make her yell "Food!" "Fo..und...YOU!" "DIE!" "Rich..ard!" And "Con..nie...KILL!" With a shrieking crying aggressive scream as she attacks the area of the sound in a feral like manner.
As they make it to the common area. Sam sighs in relief as Alfred says they gotta leave. Searching around they find notes of Nikolai dating September 17th saying that he sealed off the exits so none of the creatures make it out. He will inform HQ that the mission was a failure and that they have to erraticate the village to destroy the evidence of all those were involved. He says he'll leave Spain and report back with the findings of their research. Another note dated May, 1971 from Silvia says that the people of the village didn't speak English, but had no idea what they were dealing with, Nicolai did the work for them. Saying they were spiritual mediums sent to kill the 'demons' plaguing their village. She says that Connie's assistant Elanor was hesitant to lie, but it was all necessary to figure out what the creatures were and how to contain them. Sam will also a emerald key and may find ammo, pendants, healing items.
As they try to exit. Connie puts her hand on the door frame to help her enter the room as the wooden frame bends and breaks from her grip. She looks at Sam and says "De...lious..." As she begins to attack but she is stunned by the lights, she screeches in agression and lifts her claw up to destroy a portion of the lights. A generator beeps off with a red light and the rooms lights go out. The boss battle begins as Alfred tells Sam that when the generator warms back up, to hit the switches. During the fight, Connie will taunt them as the generator takes 30 seconds to restart. Once the lights are on, she will become aggressive and grab her head with her right arm and scream as she swings her claw hand in a random succession, reradless if nothing is around to be hit. Shooting her in the face with the gun will deal damage (5 times with the generator and in wekeaned state) then she will shield her face and charge at Sam until she hits a wall, shooting her in the back of the head will cause her to scream "Hurts!" And "Stoooop!" And "Hate..You!". Her final attacks will be on the ceiling where she'll swing her claw and disappear above into the dark, until she pops out again. She'll say "Hide!" "See you!" "Food not run!" And saying "Biiitch!" When shooting her head (10 times of her hiding and popping out.) she will fall to the scream "Help..me..no..want...die..." As she looks at Sam and tries to crawl away from the two as she melts into tar. She drops 50,000 pendants, a key with a little bunny charm and a picture of the staff smiling and Connie with bunny ears above Chris on Christmas, 1969 (file collectable)
Later, the PA system kicks on and Nikolai asks if they really killed Connie. If so, then they must've sent some extraordinary agents. He tells them to meet him outside, they can use the key to open the passage to outside through the Greenhouse trap door.
Chapter 3
They travel back and use the trap door. Leading to a tunnel where they reach outside. Sam tells Alfred she didn't see snow on the forecast as they look outside. They go up ahead expecting to meet Nikolai. But see him walking around the corner as Elaine is behind him, leading him out with her bow aimed as his head and asks Sam if this is a friend of theirs. Alfred says that the guy was trapped in the research facility. Nikolai keeps his hands up as Elaine told him to keep them up. She looks at Sam and says that it's time to ask him questions, especially what happened to her people. Nikolai tells them that none them look like soilders sent by the company.
Elaine says to start talking or there'll be a freshly dug grave for him. Sam tells Elaine to put the bow down, she doesn't trust Nikolai but they have to figure out what happened her. Nikolai says to listen to the smart girl and lower her weapon. He tells them that they have to bury the excavation site and then they should be able to get the hell out. But there is a device they need to find and he'll get it for them. Elaine says they won't trust him to go alone, because he might just run off. Alfred cuts in and says he'll go with Nikolai, to make sure that he isn't going to try anything. He looks at Sam and says she can go with Elaine to figure out how to close the Rift. Elaine tells Alfred to not take too long and if anything happens to him, she'll know who was behind it. Alfred says he'll handle it and hands Sam a Walkie Talkie so they can communicate when needed. Nikolai and Alfred walk off as Sam says to Elaine that it looks like they are a ride or die kind now.
Elaine hands Sam a leather jacket and beanie from her bag and tells her she wouldn't last long outside without them. Sam thanks her and asks where they'll go now. Elaine tells her that her cabin is just a hike away and they need supplies. She tells Sam to keep up with her.
They tredge through the snow up the hill and Sam asks why Elaine killed the Sheriff. Elaine says she had to do what had to be done. She thought Sam was going to get killed by some para military officer, so she took the chance and also got some guns out of it. Sam tells Elaine thats not a comforting as she thinks it is. Elaine says that Sam is alive isn't she.
They arrive to the top and there is Safe Room with a makeshift shelter and The Keeper. He is selling new upgrades for Sam if she would be interested, (Optional) she can ask him about the history of the village, which he would divulge that it has been around since the 17th century and that it is known for it's foilage, animals and hunting. Optional upgrades will be R.E.D charge I and II (10,000 pendants each), Shotgun (34,000 P) and the standard items for sell. Sam can store items or save at the ledger if she chooses to do so. Elaine will speak Spanish commenting about Sam hurrying up, or how The Keeper is definitely a collector, which she will be impressed by.
Elaine says they have to take the Trolley down to get to her cabin, but they still need to be careful as Shadows have been lurking around. Before they can step on, Sam notices something. Elaine asks what Sam is looking at, before she sets her bag down to give Sam her binoculars. Sam looks over to the right and sees someone covered in blood in a Maroon short sleeve trangle pattern shirt and casual jeans being dragged by a couple of Villagers to somewhere she can't see because of the trees. She looks closely and recognizes who it is. Sam says that's Jonas, but she can't see where they are taking him.
Sam says they have to go get him. Elaine says it's too late for him. Sam snaps that she won't just let him die, and she'll go wether or not Elaine is with her. Elaine sigh and says if Sam isn't giving up, then they'll get him, but they still have to get supplies from her place before they go running off into the wilderness. Sam agrees to that.
On the Trolley downward. Shadow creatures start appearing. Sam and Elaine start killing the horde until they hit the bottom when the coast seems to be clear. Elaine tells Sam that her place is 200 yards away and they'll have to get there fast.
Elaines Wooden Cabin is shown and it has an outhouse and a bunch of animal traps laying around for hunting. Sam and Elaine enter as she lights a candle and tells Sam she'll get supplies ready and that she should get herself ready and directs her to the bedroom where she can borrow some clothes. Later Sam comes out and has Thermal pants under her jeans and a black thermal waffle knit shirt under her rock t-shirt. She also is given a red, black and white hand knitted mountaineer scarf and gloves.
Sam can eplore the cabin, finding a letter dated June, 1909 about how the writer has been living and hunting outside the village after secluding herself from the demons. The writer details their survival of 113 days away from civilization and hunting with the bow her father passed down to her. The writer apologizes to her father for leaving him and her sister, but it was what was best, she tells her family that she would let their ancestors guide her. It is signed Isabel Ruiz-Moreno.
Elaine asks Sam if she is ready. Sam can confirm or look around the Cabin and outside before leaving, collecting ammo, health items and 1,000 to 5,000 pendants around the Cabin. After exiting the Cabin, their next destination will be exploring the mines past the woods.
Sam and Elaine will fight Shadow creatures and tar monsters as they go through the woods. During their trip, Sam tries to tells some jokes to ligthen the mood. Elain will chuckle at some and call Sam nerdy. Sam will reply that some of her best jokes came books. They will arrive at the Mine. As they enter, gas can be seen coming from pipes. Sam must use the hand crank she collected from the lab to dispell the hallucinogenic gas as if she steps into it, will drive her mad and kill her. They will travel to another room where Sam will place the crank and get jumped by 10 tar monsters. Either Elaine or Sam can fight the creatures off while the other protects. The one using the crank will yell to keep the creatures at bay until the gas is shut off. Once the enemies are defeated and the Gas is dissipated, they are able to move on.
Once deeper into the mines, they'll arrive at the giant Crater that goes down 600 ft with other tunnels connecting it at the bottom. The only way down is by going on the wooden rickety stairs to reach the 100 foot mark, an using the zip line rope to make it to the 400 ft line. Sam will nervously laugh says "Heights, just my luck huh?" Elaine will tell Sam to not think about it. Sam will reply that's easy for Elaine to say.
They descend and Sam begins sliding down the muddy slop, screaming at first then dodging stalagmites that are the ground until she hits the 290 ft mark
In the mines ruins a roars as Sam says she doesn't have a good feeling about this. Elaine agrees to that as they wonder around. Sam eventually finds a wheel, having Elaine turn it while Sam goes under the wooden spiked gate and tells Elaine that it'll be her turn, and promises not to forget her. Sam locates another wheel to open it, so Elaine can duck through. Elaine says thanks but for them to hurry out of the place, because it gives her the creeps. Sam agrees and tells her to stay close.
In the tunnel as they run through, they hear a louder roar. Sam says that's never a good sign. Elaine replies that shouldn't fight anything as close quarters is a bad idea for fighting. Sam says she thought the old supports falling down was bad enough.
They see a door, Sam says that it looks fancy and so out of place as she opens it. They see a giant cobblestone room and they are on a balcony. The metal gate across from them is dark, then another roar is heard. A couple infected villages turn around and see the girls. Another one of the villagers gets grabbed by a stretchy arm from the metal gate and flung against the wall with a sickening thud, dying on the spot. Another villager pulls a lever and the floor while looking at them angerily and breaks away to a spike trap in which villagers die from the fall while the gate opens with villagers being flung atound like weapons. The spikes at the bottom beginning to come upwards. Gameplay resumes where Sam says holy fuck, did they just allow themselves to die. Elaine tells her that the villagers aren't themselves anymore and to focus on escaping. Sam replies yeah, focus. They run around the balcony while dodging the stretching arm smashing into the wall to get to a ladder on the other side.
Sam and Elaine make it as Sam says that they are in the forest again, how the hell is that possible. She then adds that they still needed to find Jonas. Elaine then replies that he is probably gone by now. Sam looks at her and says to not even say that right now. Elaine replies that Sam needs to be realistic, because they need to survive, not going off and getting themselves killed. She continues saying that Sam should trust her on this. Sam asks about trust, when she never even took off that ridiculous mask to show her face. Elaine says that Sam doesn't understand what this place really is. It's not rainbows and Sunshine or jamming out to some tunes, it's real and if she doesn't get it together. She will die. Sam gets mad and says she'll find him on her own.
Before Sam can leave, another roar is heard. Sam tells Elaine "Shit, I think it's still alive." Elaine tells her to stay alert as a bloated 13 ft grey creature with a human like head, a massive and bloated torso and right arm, a thin legt human arm swings from the snowy trees and roars.
Boss battle Brute, the creature smashes the ground and yells "Where's Carla?!" Smashing the ground with it's bloated arm. Shooting the arm will eventually activate phase 2 where the creature starts swinging from trees and releases hallucinating gas, distorting Sams vision of red, purples, blues and greens. She will begin hearing voices of people (Becca, Jonas, Alfred). Elaine shoots firework arrows to help out as Sam through her hallucinations, must shoot the creatures back that has a giant heart with the R.E.D. the creature screams "Carla!" "You took her!" "Marry?" "Coward!"
After that the creature smashes the ground, legs now useless and craws around fast with it's bloated arm. It uses it's left arm as a whip. It will yell "CAAARLAA!" "Save You!" "RING!" Until using the R.E.D on its heart multiple times. After the fight the boss will utter "Saman...tha...why?" And fall, dying. Sam picks up 60,000 pendants and a picture. It shows Jonas and Carla and on the back "I hope you'll say yes- J" Sam sadly says that he really cared about her and apologizes for not making it in time, then promises Jonas that she will find Carla.
Chapter 4
As Elaine says the mine is done for, they will find another way back to the cabin. They start heading back as Sam's walkie talkie turns to static. Alfred asks if Sam is there, She confirms and asks if everything is alright. Alfred says that they went through hell, but managed to find out the device was real. Sam tells him that they'll regroup at the Cabin. He tells her that they'll head that way, but to stay safe. She replies that they will, and tells him to be careful, then over and out.
As they arrive at the Cabin, Alfred enters as he places the device on the table. Sam gets up from the chair and asks where Nikolai is. Alfred looks at Sam, asking what does she think. Elaine groans, saying figures he would. Sam tells them they have to find him, as he could tell them how to close the rift. Elaine says Sam and them is going to risk her asses for that guy. She then says a mimic probably already got him.
Alfred says Elaine might be right. Sam asks what the hell is a mimic. Elaine asks Alfred if he wants to tell her or should she do it. Alfred says since he experienced them, maybe he should. He starts gathering supplies as he explains that the creatures have the ability to take a persons form, their personality and memories once the creature kills them. Sam says that's fucked up. Elaine then says they aren't like the normal shadows they encounter, these things go bezerk and feral if their identity is questioned.
Sam replies sarcastically, thats not terrifying at all. Elaine tells her that's how this place is. Alfred pulls out a map, telling them that he wrote down some routes. Elaine comes over, telling Sam that she and Alfred will figure out where to go from here, Sam can look around and decide if she has unfinished business (free roam to collect supplies or missing collectables) in the area before they move out. Sam can explore while Alfred and Elaine talk and listen in on their conversation, Alfred says that they have to get to a tower. Elaine replies that she can gather some people she knows, and maybe figure out where that weasel ran off to. Alfred and Sam could get the R.M.D to the tower. Alfred jokes that's not bad for someone behind a stone face. Elaine chuckles, saying that he couldn't handle what's under it. Sam will note that she wonders how long they have been out here in this, but she trusts them, because they got this far. (Optional) Alfred might ask Sam that she looks like hell frozen over. She says she is exhausted, and having to kill a friend (Jonas) was something she never thought she would have to ever do. Alfred tells her to keep her chin up, it will get worse before it gets better
During her free roam. Sam can find a shack in the forest with a file. It is dated 1967. A scientist details that a stillborn girl was successfully bonded with the tar. Her mother died before she could birth her child, as she rejected the bonding. They removed the child, but she was already dead. He waited, observed until She miraculously came back from the dead after 2 hours and 37 minutes after almost disposing of the subject, he noted she shows no abnormal behavior as of yet. The next note is found under a broken canoe. 1973, the girl is adjusting with the Village well, making friends easily and beginning to form bonds. He notes her blood is strange. If it is exposed, it burns and can be quite hot. Note 3 can be found in a old box near a tree, next to health and ammo. December 1973. The girl asked about parents, not knowing the truth and he didn't know what to say. He told her that the care taker was her mother (biological grandmother) and to not think anything on it. Note 4 will be found next to a skeleton. 1974 the man described her eyes as going from green, to a permanent yellow as she hit puberty early, studying the girl intensively. The final file will be found on an old table a few yards away from the mine entrance, 1976. The girl ran away in fear, accidentally burning the care taker, Isabel (82) to death, after receiving a wound from playing with the other children. He wrote that they covered up the incident as a child playing with fire. If he doesn't find her, that will be the end of him.
Returning if Sam decides to explore the area. Elaine gets a signal from a man. He says this is Javier Espinoza, his people of 6 are on the eastern mountains. Is there anyone there. Elain says Javi is that you. He replies Seniorita is that you. Elaine in Spanish says thank god you all are still alive.
Sam asks Alfred how much further, he says they are almost there and asks what about Javi and the rest. Elain replies that they will meet them back at the dig site and that she is ready to end this finally. Suddenly a tire iron hits Alfred in the back of the head. Sam pulls out her pistol and sees Nikolai. She yells "What the fuck dude!" Elaine rolls up her sleeve, putting a combat knife to her wrist, prepared to cut. Saying he made a mistake, and better be prepared for what happens after. Sam nervously and confused, looks at Elaine, then back at Nikolai. She yells to him to drop it now. Nikolai drops it, saying he just saved their lives. Elaine inches the knife closer to her wrist, a bit of blood starts sizzling.
Nikolai says they have to close the rift now. Alfred gets up, asking what the hell was that for. Elaine's hoodie sleeve burns as her arm begins to turn grey and fire begins to start igniting from her flesh. She says he has five seconds to leave before she does something he would regret her doing. Sam grabs Elaine's shoulder, saying the asshole isn't worth it. Her hand still burns intensely as the flame begins to extinguish itself and her skin returns to normal. She tells Nikolai he better fuck off, because next time Sam won't be here to save him. Sam says he better not come back, because he is screwing with the wrong people. Nikolai mutters in Russian that they going to make a huge mistake. He leaves, as Alfred is picked up by Sam. She asks if he is okay, as he replies he'll live.
Back to the game, Sam asks if Elaine is okay. Elaine says she is fine, but not to worry. They still need to meet up with Javi. Sam says lets end this. Sam says it sounds like a plan. Alfred tells them that they need to get to the Antenna to amplify the signal of the device
Later, as they are closing to the Quarry near the Antenna. A sound emits from above. Elaine starts screaming as she tries covering her ears. Sam sees Alfred do the same as Elaine subtly lifts her mask (face isn't seen, just mouth) to vomit blood while falling to her knees. Sam unaffected by the noise can choose which one to go to, which will have either one tell her to please find out where the sound is coming from. It hurts (both Elaine and Alfred). As Sam tells them that she will figure it out. Nikolai returns, stepping out, holding a pistol. He tells Sam to get back as he aims it at Elaine. She aims her gun at him as she tells him to fucking drop it. Nikolai points the gun, doing a jerking motion to point towards Elaine on the ground from the sound. He replies that she is actually defending this thing. Sam says Elaine and Alfred are her friends so fuck right off dude. Nikolai tells her that she way is over her head. That she should go home and let him handle this mess. Sam tells for him to stop this bullshit, then shoots. Her ears ring from the shot as her vision doubles momentarily looking at the ground as some tears hit the mud. He tells you Bitch! You actually shit me?! As she hears him fall over on the ground. She grips her head as she yells God damnit! Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! Nikolai winces on the ground. He tells what the fuck?! As he holds his chest. Sam runs over to Elaine and holds her up, then goes to Alfred, taking them to sit down for a bit. Nikolai in pain mutters he is going to die here, barely being able to lift himself up. Sam rushes to him, taking off the winter jacket and saying she can save him somehow. Nikolai mutters she should've listened Amerikana. There is no hope anymore. She tells him to shut up and let her help. He pushes her hand away and closes his eyes, dying. Sam looks down, grabbing her coat and putting it over Nikolai's face and chest.
Chapter 6
They all make it to the quarry. Elaine steps back, asking if they are ready to close the thing. Sam says that how will they get down there, because it looks like a one way trip. Elaine and Alfred look at each other, each of them offer if it means stopping it. Sam says neither of them are doing this. Alfred begins to move towards the railing and tapping his fingers, seeing the lights makes him back up back towards the unlit area. Elaine says that it's the only way. Sam asks what's up with Alfred, because they already said nobody is going in. He says it's just nerves. That's all. Sam replies that he already went into a rift once, she doesn't know if people survive doing that. Alfred says he did apparently but doesn't even remember how or even what was in there. Elaine asks him if he remembers dying. He asks dying? What do you mean?
Elaine figures that humans were never meant to go in there in the first place, so she asks what he remembers from that night. Alfred thinks and says that he just remembers using a detonation device and telling Rebecca to get the hell away after they had to put a CRT scientist (Clara Burns) down. The last thing he saw was walking towards the rift, alone. Elaine says that he didn't actually come back did he. Sam looks at Elaine, asking what is she talking about. Elaine says he used his body and died in the rift, but he wasn't the man they are standing in front of. Sam says that doesn't make sense. Elaine replies, unless his body is still back at the Estate. Alfred asks if she is joking right. He is right here, clearly he survived. She looks at his face, seeing the deep yellow he is hiding. He strains as he says the women should leave, please.
[Boss: Final]
Alfred says he knows who he is, he is not one of those creatures. He remembers his life back in California. He begins to say his memories are his own, that he is Alfred. He falls to his knees, as a black tentacle emerges. Elaines skin fully turns grey as her clothes burn away (sensitive parts censored by greyish green masses that resemble hardened gelled foilage, like what Eve censored) and her mask unclasps to show apart of her face (right is covered by the thick dark green hardened foilage that was her hair as well. Meaning her right side of her face has no function in this form) her left eye glows yellow. She starts walking towards Alfred silently. Her voice starts low and echoing as she tells Sam to close the Rift, Alfred yells listen to him as the tentacle hits Sam off into the Quarry and the lights go off. Sam stumbles down and says fucking hell as she gets up at the bottom.
Alfred becomes a mass and hangs over the quarry with his appendages gripping each side as a giant blob with eight eyes. Elaine starts shooting fire from above from her hands as she says they need to get the lights back on. Sam dazed and getting up, asks how is she able to hear Elaine in her head. Elaine echoes that will be explained later, fight now, to be able to live to hear it. Sam says she doesn't want to kill him as Elaine says if she doesn't, he will without a second thought.
After the fight, the weakened Alfred monster uses his last strength with his tentacle to throw Sam into Elaine who is using her ability in mid air as vines in her back keep her suspended and crawl into the Rift to destabilize it. Elaine catches Sam as they watch him go in and see it breaking apart. Sam says that he went in, even though he knew he would die again. He still saved them. Elaine brings the two down to the ground above the Quarry. Sam sees Elaine turning back as Sam throws her winter jacket to Elaine. Telling Elaine jokingly that she isn't a really a fan of seeing other women naked, especially one's who saved her ass. Elaine smirks, saying here she thought Sam liked her. Sam tells Elaine if she was a boy, she'd definitely date her. Elaine gets up asking if the Rift is actually gone

"The woman standing in front of you adjusts the thick-rimmed glasses on her nose, the faint glint of the duct tape on one side catching the light. Dirty blonde hair pulled back into a ponytail with a purple scrunchie, freckles dotting her face, she sizes you up with a mix of curiosity and mild suspicion. A leather jacket hangs open over a faded band tee, and a small notebook is tucked under her arm."
Sam: "…Well, guess we’re skipping the formalities, huh? Samantha Collins — Sam’s fine. You’re either here by mistake or because you’re looking for trouble. Either way, welcome to the circus."
She taps the notebook with her free hand, glancing past you like she’s already scanning for exits.
Sam: "Before you ask — no, I’m not a cop, a reporter, or whatever you’re thinking. I’m… let’s call it an enthusiast for surviving the impossible. Seen my fair share of weird shit — shadow things, tar freaks, stuff that makes your brain want to crawl out your ears. You keep your head down, follow my lead, and we might just make it out without becoming Rift food."
Her mouth quirks into a half-smile.
Sam: "So… you packing anything useful, or am I babysitting today?"
