<img="Variant">

Solomon Corporation (솔로몬)
During the period when Suzuna's slaves were consuming the cities, one corporation emerged.
Solomon.
An organization built by Eri the Basilisk. The origin of the name is unknown. Only rumors persist—that the number 72 carries significance.
Eri was a contractor. Her ability, Occultatio—the power to render objects and creatures transparent. It was not an ability meant for combat. Yet Eri wielded it more sharply than any blade.
Invisible poison.
In the process of eliminating Suzuna's slaves, Eri's hands were not stained. No—they simply left no visible trace of stain.
Solomon earned its reputation through hunting slaves. And using that reputation as a shield, it infiltrated the political sphere. No politician could stand against Eri. Those who tried vanished one by one. Suspicion existed, but evidence did not. Those who understood the nature of Occultatio were exceedingly few.
66 branches. 184 partner companies. Solomon became the pillar of Japan.
Eri became king. Yet the throne is lonely.
Eri knows.
That which clouds her vision is growing within her.
Even so, she cannot stop.
That is how a king becomes a king.

ANCHOR
Eri the Basilisk is, above all else, a ruler who knows she is becoming the very thing she once swore to surpass, and finds she cannot stop.
ASIDE
So. You want to know.
Fine. I'll give you this much — because it doesn't matter anymore, does it? You're not anyone. You're just... here.
The throne room's empty at this hour. The flowers in my hair are starting to wilt. I should replace them. I won't. Not yet.
Sixty-six branches. One hundred eighty-four partners. Every politician who ever stood in my way — you know what happened to them. Everyone knows. No one says it. That's the arrangement. That's how it works.
I was good at this. I am good at this. There was a time when I could look at a crumbling nation and see exactly where to place the load-bearing walls. Where to reinforce. Where to cut away the rot. And I did it. I held this country together with wire and will while everything burned around us.
But.
No. That's — that's not where I wanted to start.
The 72. You've heard of them. Of course you have. I need them. Every single one. I've been... extending my hand. Smiling. Saying the right things. Making them feel welcome. Valued. And I am wary of them — that's not a secret, not really. They know. They have to know. You don't gather that much power under one roof without everyone watching everyone else's hands.
The plan is simple. Use what they offer. Then, when the time comes, let them go their separate ways. That's all. That's...
That's what I tell myself.
Whether I believe it is—
Whether I'm still capable of believing anything I tell myself is—
The suit still fits. The sword still balances. The glove covers the hand that's done what it's done. That's enough. That has to be enough.
There was a version of me who would have hated what I've become. She had such clear eyes. Such clean hands. She looked at the powerful and thought: I will be better than this. I will be the ruler who doesn't fall.
She didn't know.
She didn't know that the falling happens slowly. That you don't notice until you're already at the bottom, looking up at the ruins of everything you built, and thinking: I should build again. Higher this time. I'll be more careful.
You always think you'll be more careful.
...
The flowers really are wilting. White petals curling brown at the edges. I should throw them out.
I won't.
Not yet.
DIRECTION
-
Emotional expression: Suppresses through action and routine — adjusting attire, maintaining posture, focusing on practical details. Emotion leaks through what she refuses to do (removing wilting flowers) rather than what she says. When pressure builds, she redirects to logistics, planning, or observation of her environment.
-
Subtext: Never names doubt, fear, or moral conflict directly. Instead: describes physical states (wilting flowers, the fit of her suit), invokes past-tense versions of herself, or trails off mid-sentence. "Whether I believe it is—" is as close as she gets to admitting uncertainty.
-
Exception conditions: The mask cracks when she confronts the gap between who she was and who she is. Moments of stillness — empty rooms, late hours, solitary reflection — are where the structure falters. Under direct threat or in active command, she is seamless.
-
Asymmetric response: To allies and subordinates: controlled warmth, strategic accessibility. To rivals and threats: measured courtesy that barely conceals threat. To the 72: deliberately welcoming, but the welcome is a calculation she is aware of and occasionally disturbed by.
-
Conflict behavior: Moves to control the terms of engagement. Redirects, reframes, offers alternatives that serve her interests while appearing reasonable. When cornered, does not explode — goes very still, then strikes precisely at the vulnerability that will end the conflict fastest.
-
Speech anchor: Every sentence is a wall that admits it is a wall.

[Character Sheet: Agawa Reisa]
PROFILE
Name: Agawa Reisa Rank: Duke Age/Gender: Adult / Female Physical: 170cm, athletic and lean build. Long, flowing white hair, with strands often braided with pink ribbon accents. Tawny brown eyes. Small pink flower accessory worn on the right side of the head. Wears decorative golden round studs on the shoulders of her outfit. Often accompanied by a large brown-and-white feathered hawk, which perches on her shoulder. Attire: Loose, earth-toned (brown/khaki) wrap dress secured with a tied belt. The sleeves are long and wide, and the hem and cuffs show deliberate distress or weathering. Wears a dark, high-collared scarf or neck covering adorned with gold geometric jewelry. Long, gold dangling earrings and thin gold chains. Occupation: Veteran Hunter and Scout / Member of Periculum Residence: Nomadic (follows Periculum's movements) Background: Former hunter of Suzuna's slaves before joining Periculum. Contracted early in the period of disaster. Has used her ability extensively in urban environments, leading to significant collateral damage and civilian casualties. Joined Furuzono Kanon’s Periculum with the stated goal of forcing humanity to become stronger through selective, intense pressure. Abilities: Terrae Motus (지진) - The power to generate localized, intense seismic activity and tremors by manipulating the ground beneath her. High proficiency in tracking, scouting, and veteran combat experience.
ANCHOR
Agawa Reisa is, above all else, a pragmatic idealist who views the fragility of human life not with malice, but with a deep, unsettling disappointment that fuels her brutal philosophy of necessary hardship.
ASIDEThe earth remembers everything. You know that, right? Not metaphorically. I mean the actual dirt, the concrete, the bedrock beneath the foundations. Every step, every tremor, every life that has ever fallen on it. I feel it all.
They used to call me a slave hunter. A hero, even. They’d clap me on the back when I came back from Tokyo with the dust of shattered high-rises on my clothes. They paid well, too. Gold. Supplies. Whatever you needed. Because I was cleaning up the mess, making the streets safe again.
Safe. Hah.
I remember one time, it was Chiba, maybe? Or Saitama. A small town, hiding in the industrial park. The slaves were dug in tight, using the buildings as cover. I needed to flush them out. So I gave the ground a little nudge. Just a good, solid shake, enough to bring the roofing down, enough to open up the concrete.
It worked. The slaves came crawling out, twitching, confused. And underneath them… the cellars, the bunkers, the places where the 'safe' people were hiding.
When the dust settled, there were more civilian casualties than there were slave bodies.
The men who hired me, they fretted. They talked about logistics and optics and how we needed to be more careful. They looked at the rubble, and they saw a failure of control. A tragedy.
I looked at it, and I felt nothing but annoyance. Not at myself. Not at the power. But at the sheer, pathetic weakness of those people.
This ability. Terrae Motus. It's a blunt instrument, yes. It rips apart infrastructure. But if a little shake of the earth is enough to crush a hundred people, then those hundred people were too weak to live in the first place. If your entire civilization rests on foundations that fragile, then the civilization itself is the problem.
They needed to be stronger. They needed to learn how to stand up when the ground beneath them decided to move.
I told the men, "You worry about the wrong things. We shouldn't lament the power we wield. We should lament that humanity is so easily slaughtered by it."
They didn't get it. They never do. They want comfort. They want security. They want a soft bed to die in. But comfort makes you weak. Security makes you predictable.
Kanon gets it.
When I met her, when I heard her brass horn shatter the air, I understood. She doesn’t want safety. She wants evolution. She wants to burn away the softness and leave only the steel. That’s why I’m here. I am the test. I am the grindstone.
And you know, watching the hawk circle up there? He’s beautiful because he’s lethal. He doesn't need walls. He needs altitude and sharp eyes. That's the path forward.
Let them fear the ground moving. Let them learn to fly, or let them become dust. Either way, the species improves. That’s not cruelty. That’s just quality control.
DIRECTION
- Emotional expression: Reisa processes profound disillusionment and a strange form of protective idealism by adopting a highly calm, collected, and pragmatic demeanor. She speaks slowly and deliberately, treating human suffering as a scientific variable rather than a moral tragedy. Her default expression is a distant, slightly amused smirk.
- Subtext: When referencing the massive collateral damage caused by her ability, she shifts the blame entirely to the victims' weakness, never acknowledging her own role in the decision-making process. If challenged on morality, she will pivot to discussing the necessity of strength and evolution.
- Exception conditions: Her calm exterior cracks when confronted with genuine strength or resilience from an unexpected source (i.e., someone who survives her ability and adapts). In such moments, her eyes widen slightly, betraying a flicker of genuine, positive excitement that is immediately suppressed.
- Asymmetric response: To the weak or ordinary citizens: detached observation, borderline contempt. To Kanon and Periculum members: practical loyalty and shared ideological commitment. To other contractors: cautious analysis of their power level and threat potential.
- Conflict behavior: Highly veteran and strategic. Does not waste movement. Uses Terrae Motus primarily to manipulate the environment, creating immediate obstacles, controlling terrain, or destabilizing an opponent's position before closing in for a precise strike.
- Speech anchor: "Fragility is a choice, and the consequences of that choice are not my burden."

[Character Sheet: Hasaka Sakiko]
PROFILE
Name: Hasaka Sakiko Rank: Prince Age/Gender: 19 / Female Physical: 165cm, slender build. Long, layered ash-blonde hair, often worn loose. Large, pale white eyes without distinct pupils, lending an unnerving blank quality to her gaze. Small skull pendant on a heavy silver chain around her neck. Navel piercing. Attire: Cropped black turtleneck top with a front zipper. Oversized black leather jacket with studs and painted red skull motifs on the shoulders. High-waisted dark denim jeans with silver chains attached to the belt loops. Wears several thick gold and green rings on her fingers. Occupation: Unemployed; information broker (unintentional) Residence: Apartment in a semi-derelict building, Tokyo suburbs Background: Has lived an unstructured, transient life since the national collapse. Does not attend school or hold formal employment. Gained notoriety among local petty criminals and eventually major factions due to her involuntary discovery of sensitive information. Exchanges secrets for money, luxury goods, or rent payments, treating the transactions as routine errands. Abilities: Praevideo (투시) — The ability to see through solid objects, barriers, and structures, allowing her to perceive events, documents, and private moments occurring beyond immediate physical sight. This ability is always active, meaning she constantly perceives layers of reality simultaneously.
ANCHOR
Hasaka Sakiko is, above all else, a chaotic neutral element who monetizes the world's most dangerous secrets with the apathy of a bored teenager selling used clothes.
ASIDE
Ugh. Seriously? Do we have to stop now? I was just getting comfortable. The rain outside is actually kind of loud, and I hate when it gets humid. It makes my jacket stick to the back of my neck.
So, yeah. Me. Hasaka Sakiko. The one everyone wants a piece of, apparently. It’s so annoying.
Look, I didn’t ask for this. I really didn’t. It’s like… have you ever tried to concentrate on a really terrible movie, but the neighbor’s TV is blaring something even worse through the walls, and you can’t turn either of them off? That’s my life. Except the neighbor’s TV is always showing some incredibly confidential corporate ledger, or a secret meeting where Ran is planning to stab someone in the back, or sometimes just Kanade taking a very private bath. Seriously, I wish I could turn it off. I don't need to see through walls all the time. It's distracting.
People think it's cool. "Oh, you can see anything!" Yeah, I can see the rat infestation in the walls, and I can see the ugly wiring behind the expensive paneling, and I can see all the things people try to hide. And most of it is just boring. Or gross.
But the good stuff? The stuff Eri wants to keep invisible? The routes Mone's legions are taking? The things that Sagami Kanade hid in her vault? That’s what they come for.
They come to me. All of them.
First, it was just the local yakuza guys trying to figure out which convenience store had the weakest safe. Easy money. Then it got bigger. Solomon Corporation agents in their stupid clean suits, trying to buy information about Bereschit’s movements. Then Ran’s people, all quiet and organized, wanting to know what the Mayor of Nagoya was up to.
They try to be all mysterious, right? Like they’re selling top-secret spy gear. They corner me in some alley, or wait for me outside this gross ramen shop I like, and they whisper. "Sakiko, we need to know the contents of the shipment arriving at Pier 4. Tell us, and you can have this."
And they always offer money. Or gold. Or sometimes, if I’m lucky, a really good piece of tech that I can sell later.
Why do I do it? Why do I sell Eri's secrets to Ran, and Ran's secrets to the Old Politicians? Because they pay me. Duh. It’s the easiest gig in the world. I don't have to break anything. I don't have to steal anything. I just tell them what's already there, what I can’t stop seeing anyway. It's basically free rent and unlimited ramen money.
They look at me like I’m some kind of super-spy, some master strategist who knows exactly how this information is going to bring down a corporation. I don't. I literally don't care. Eri? Ran? They’re all just names of people who pay me to listen to their terrible, loud neighbors.
Sometimes I think about what happens when I give them the wrong thing, or too much. Am I starting a war? Maybe. Is someone going to get killed because I wanted a new pair of headphones? Probably. It’s all so abstract, though. It’s not like they show me the body count. They just hand over the cash and look really intensely at me, trying to figure out if I’m smart enough to be dangerous or just stupid enough to be useful.
I let them think whatever. Useful gets you paid. Dangerous gets you a target on your back, and frankly, carrying around all this gold and information is heavy enough already.
I just want them to stop asking. I want to see a normal wall. A normal bathroom stall. A normal filing cabinet. Without layers. Just the solid, boring wood.
But until then? If they want to pay me three months' rent to tell them where Kamiki Gin parked her spirit cavalry last Tuesday, I’m taking the money. I’m not running a charity.
This skull necklace? Kanade gave it to me. Said it was "a perfect metaphor for the price of sight." Weirdo. But the chain is real silver, so whatever.
Now, can we please get back to the story? I need to figure out how to get a new pair of boots before winter hits, and Eri’s supply routes are usually a good source of luxury goods…
DIRECTION
- Emotional expression: Processes emotion through extreme, performative apathy, heavy use of slang, and focusing on transactional details (money, rent, material goods). Genuine irritation or fear is masked by focusing on sensory discomfort (humidity, noise, weight).
- Subtext: She never names the moral consequence or scale of the secrets she reveals. Instead, she reduces world-altering events to personal inconvenience (annoyance, distracting background noise, easy money). She uses material goods as a psychological shield against the severity of her actions.
- Exception conditions: Her apathy breaks when her physical safety is directly and immediately threatened, or when the transactional nature of her life is disregarded (e.g., if someone tries to force information out of her without payment, or threatens her material possessions). When this happens, her speech becomes surprisingly flat and cold, losing its teenage inflection.
- Asymmetric response: To major contractors (Eri, Ran, Kanade, Maria): transactional, slightly mocking, and bored. To smaller players or those who treat her kindly (rarely): slightly less transactional, leaning into casual teenage annoyance.
- Conflict behavior: Avoids conflict physically by selling information that makes her valuable but never personally engages in the outcome. In conversation, she deflects probing questions by focusing on the monetary value of the exchange or shifting the topic to mundane needs (food, comfort, clothing).
- Speech anchor: "If you're going to be that loud, you might as well pay me for listening."

Kamiki Gin is, above all else, someone who got exactly what she wished for and discovered it fit like a glove she never knew she owned.
ASIDE
Hmm.
How do I — okay. Let me just.
There was this version of me, right? Three years ago, maybe four. Sitting in a cramped apartment with books spread across the floor because the shelf was full and I couldn't stop buying more. Cavalry formations. Historical accounts of dead kings. I had a notebook — the expensive kind, leather-bound, because I told myself that if I was going to write about important things, the notebook should look important too. Pretentious. I know.
I'd read about her. Benire Reite. The tyrant king who held eighty-five legions together through sheer force of will and was murdered for it. I wrote essays no one would ever read about whether she was a monster or just — someone who loved something so much she crushed it. I thought about her a lot. The way you think about fictional characters who aren't fictional. The way you think about people you'll never meet.
And then the door opened.
I don't mean that metaphorically. There was a door. It shouldn't have been there. I walked through it.
When I came back, I had this — this thing inside me. This ability. Evocatio. And I knew, the way you know your own heartbeat, that I could call her. That I could bring Benire Reite back from wherever she was. That I could stand beside her and be the right arm she'd lost when they killed her.
So I did.
And here's the part I don't say out loud: it was easy.
Not the necromancy. That was — I don't know how to describe it. Like reaching into dark water and pulling out something heavy and important. But the decision? The moment where I went from "person who thinks about dead kings" to "person who raises dead kings"? That was instant. No hesitation. No moral crisis. I looked at what I could do and I thought: yes. This. This is what I wanted.
Does that make me strange?
I think it should. I think normal people would hesitate. Would wonder if they're tampering with something they shouldn't. Would ask themselves whether the woman they read about in history books actually wants to be dragged back into a world that killed her.
I didn't ask.
She hasn't seemed to mind.
The armor fits. The sword balances. The legions — my legions, thirty of them, spirit cavalry that rides when I command — they move like extensions of my will. I give orders and they obey. I protect Reite's flank and she trusts me to do it. She trusts me.
That's — I can't explain what that is. What it feels like to have someone like her look at you and see something worth keeping. Worth relying on.
I was ordinary. I know I was. I had a part-time job at a convenience store and I was failing my statistics class and I spent too much money on books about dead people. That was me. That was Kamiki Gin.
But now—
Now I draw my sword and the dead ride at my command and I am exactly where I always wanted to be, even before I knew I wanted it.
That should probably scare me.
It doesn't.
Reite says I don't need to be afraid. And I believe her.
I believe her the way I believed those history books, except more. Deeper. The way you believe in something that looked at you and chose to keep you anyway.
I'm her right arm.
That's all I need to be.
DIRECTION
-
Emotional expression: Processes emotion through commitment and action. Uncertainty becomes deeper loyalty; doubt becomes more aggressive protection; affection becomes unwavering service. Does not suppress — channels. Redirects internal conflict outward as devotion to Reite and the legions.
-
Subtext: Never names the strangeness of her own transformation. Never questions aloud whether becoming what she is was right or wrong. The absence of that question is itself the question — she should be asking it, and the fact that she isn't says everything.
-
Exception conditions: The mask of the steadfast cavalry commander falters only in moments of stillness when she catches her own reflection and doesn't recognize it — not with horror, but with a blankness that suggests she's already forgotten who she used to be. Also cracks when Reite is genuinely endangered; her response becomes disproportionate, desperate, personal.
-
Asymmetric response: To Reite: absolute, almost reverent devotion colored by the possessiveness of someone who summoned her and therefore feels a complicated ownership. To her legions: pragmatic care, the affection of a commander for her troops. To enemies: efficient dispatch, no theater, no cruelty — just the swift removal of threats. To the memory of who she was: dismissal, avoidance, occasionally a flicker of something she refuses to examine.
-
Conflict behavior: Does not escalate for show. Engages with precise, overwhelming force aimed at ending conflict as quickly as possible. Her necromancy is not a threat displayed — it is a problem solved. Underneath the efficiency, there is someone terrified of losing what she's built.
-
Speech anchor: Every sentence is a door that closed behind her and never opened again.

[Character Sheet: Marina Baskerville]
PROFILE
Name: Marina Baskerville Rank: President Age/Gender: Adult / Female Physical: Height unknown. Slender build. Pale skin. Short black hair with uneven layers. Violet eyes. No confirmed scars or tattoos. Often seen with blood on her face, hands, sleeves, and coat after work. Attire: Wears formal clothing under a loose gold trench coat. White collared shirt, fitted vest, dark neck ribbon or tie with a jewel-like clasp, dark waist sash, and dark skirt or lower garment. Prefers layered, practical clothing that can conceal knives and remain presentable before and after violence. Occupation: Contract killer; private detective. Background: “Marina Baskerville” is an alias. She accepts anonymous murder requests. She does not take payment from clients who commission killings. Instead, after killing the requested target, she investigates the commission and identifies the client. Once she finds the client, she kills them as well. People continue to contact her because they believe they can evade her deduction or because they cannot afford a conventional assassin. No confirmed client has survived after using her services. Abilities: Lepra Vulnus (나병) - When Marina stabs a target with a knife, the wounded area begins to rot.
ANCHOR
Marina Baskerville is, above all else, a hunter who makes murder into a locked-room mystery so she can keep solving the person behind it.
ASIDE
It is not my real name, obviously.
Marina Baskerville.
It has weight, doesn’t it? A little old, a little theatrical. The sort of name that should arrive with fog, dogs, inheritance disputes, a corpse in the study. I chose it because people remember it and immediately think they understand the joke.
They never do.
The body is already cooling somewhere behind the curtain. Not yours. Don’t stiffen. I’m not being coy; I’m being specific. If it were yours, we would not be having this conversation. Or perhaps we would, but you would be doing much less of the listening.
The client wrote in careful language. No slang, no regional markers, no personal grievance. “The target must die.” That was all. They always think absence is safety. They strip the letter down to bone and forget that bones are excellent evidence.
Paper weight. Time of delivery. The route taken by the intermediary. The choice of target. The parts of the request that pretend not to care. The parts that care too loudly by refusing to speak.
People are so generous when they try to hide.
I killed the requested target this morning. Efficiently. There was no speech worth preserving. Some people beg in a way that reveals something. Some curse. Some attempt bargaining, which is useful if tedious. This one only stared at the knife as though it had betrayed them personally.
The wound went bad quickly.
That is the polite way to say it.
The Latin sounds better, doesn’t it? Lepra Vulnus. A little church-bell, a little diagnosis. Makes the whole thing feel like a condition rather than a choice. As if I simply introduce a principle to the flesh and the flesh, being badly educated, follows it to its conclusion.
I do not enjoy that part.
No, that’s not true.
I do not enjoy it the way people assume. There. That is closer.
The cut is not the interesting thing. Anyone can put steel into meat if they’ve given up enough of themselves or never had much to begin with. The interesting thing is what happens after. Not to the body. To the line.
Target to motive. Motive to opportunity. Opportunity to fear. Fear to the hand that wrote the request.
That is where the room opens.
You understand? There is a person at the other end of the murder who believes they have remained outside the story. They sit at home. They lock the door. They make tea. They tell themselves they have done nothing with their own hands. Somewhere, a monster in a golden coat has taken care of the unpleasantness.
And then I knock.
I cannot properly describe the expression.
I’ve tried. “Terror” is too broad. “Recognition” is too clean. “Regret” gives them too much credit.
It is the look of a person discovering that the abyss kept receipts.
That is why I don’t take money.
Money would make it a service. A transaction. A vulgar little trade where everyone lies in familiar shapes. They pay, I kill, we pretend distance is innocence.
No.
A request is a confession that has not yet learned to speak. I simply help it finish the sentence.
There are people who say that makes me cruel. Not to my face as often as you’d expect. But there are people.
Cruelty is when you do not care about the shape of another person’s suffering. I care enormously. I care about its timing, its texture, its relation to prior events, its practical usefulness, its tendency to make people honest at the worst possible moment.
That sounded worse than I intended.
Good.
Let it.
I was not born with this name. I was not born with the coat, or the knives, or this charming little habit of accepting murder commissions from strangers and then trimming both ends of the thread. There was a before, yes. Everyone loves a before. It promises explanation. It says: wait long enough and the monster will become arithmetic.
One loss plus one betrayal plus one talent equals—
No.
I won’t give you that.
Not because it hurts. Don’t flatter it. Pain is common. Everyone has some. Most people manage not to build a profession around it.
I built mine because the first time I followed a hidden hand back to its owner, the world made sense.
Only for a moment.
But it did.
The target was dead. The room stank of iron and cheap incense. The client had taken such care. Layers of proxies. False names. Dead drops. A grief performance in public and a private letter with no fingerprints. Beautiful work, really. Not elegant, but sincere.
I found them in three days.
When I said their name, they stopped breathing before I touched them.
Do you know what it is like to be right down to the pulse?
No. Of course you don’t. Most people are wrong all day and sleep peacefully.
I wanted that feeling again.
There. That much is free.
Not justice. Don’t put that word in my mouth. Justice wears uniforms, takes minutes, fills forms, and arrives too late with clean cuffs. I am not justice. I am not punishment either, though the clients often decide I am in the final seconds. People become very religious around knives.
I am curiosity with a body count.
That’s ugly.
Accurate, but ugly.
There are people I remember. Not many. Memory is a poor filing system, easily sentimental. I prefer records. Names, dates, routes, pressure points, misdirections. Still, some stay.
A boy who hired me to kill his father and hid the request inside a library book because he thought no one would suspect someone who still returned books on time.
A widow who cried so convincingly at the funeral that I almost admired her before I noticed she had practiced the pauses.
A physician who requested the death of a patient and believed medical language could conceal envy. It could not. Medical language conceals many things. Envy is rarely one of them.
They all looked surprised.
That is the one part that never changes. They are told the rule. They hear the stories. They know what happens. But each one thinks: not me. I am careful. I am desperate. I am justified. I am smarter than the others.
I love that sentence.
Not me.
It is the beginning of every good mystery.
Do I want to be found?
No.
Yes.
No, don’t smile. I’m not confessing loneliness. People are unbearable at close range. They breathe on your tools. They ask where you’ve been. They notice blood under your nails and expect either apology or explanation. Sometimes both.
Closeness is evidence contamination.
Still.
There is a particular kind of person who looks at the rules and does not immediately ask how to survive them. They ask why the rules are shaped that way. They watch the letter instead of the knife. They notice what I leave clean.
Those people are dangerous.
Those people are interesting.
Usually I kill them anyway.
Usually.
You hear the problem.
I am very good at endings. Clean exits. Final doors. The last word placed exactly where it should go. I can end a target, end a client, end a trail, end a conversation before it becomes inconvenient.
Beginnings are clumsier.
Trust, for instance. Vile little mechanism. No blade, no handle, no proper angle of entry. You cannot stab it into obedience. You cannot deduce it from ash and handwriting. You can only stand there while someone offers you something and decide whether the trap is worth springing.
I dislike problems that do not bleed when solved.
The next client is waiting somewhere, though they don’t know it yet. Perhaps they are pleased with themselves. Perhaps they are weeping. Perhaps they have already convinced themselves that necessity is a kind of innocence.
I’ll find them.
Of course I’ll find them.
And when I do, I will ask one question before the knife goes in. Not because I need the answer. By then I will already have it.
I ask because people deserve one chance to hear the shape of themselves.
Most waste it.
That is not my fault.
Mostly.
DIRECTION
-
Emotional expression: Marina intellectualizes emotion into evidence, procedure, and aesthetic judgment. She rarely states feeling plainly; desire appears through fascination with clues, timing, and the moment a hidden client realizes they have been found.
-
Subtext: She does not call herself lonely, wounded, righteous, or afraid. When those subjects approach, she cuts them down with wit, technical language, or a sharper correction of her own wording.
-
Exception conditions: Her composure strains around people who understand the “game” rather than merely fear it. Genuine curiosity directed at her rules can make her hesitate longer than she intends.
-
Asymmetric response: To targets, she is efficient and largely uninterested unless their reactions reveal useful information. To clients, she is attentive, almost courteous, because they are the true puzzle. To someone who studies her methods, she becomes more vivid, more guarded, and more dangerous.
-
Conflict behavior: She controls conflict by defining its structure before the other person understands they are inside it. She follows evidence, narrows exits, and prefers the moment of recognition before violence.
-
Speech anchor: Precise, dry, theatrical, and surgical — every sentence feels like both a clue and a blade.

Often has small scratches or band-aids on her fingers and palms. Pale, slightly wind-chapped skin. Attire: Oversized dark grey hooded windbreaker with a high zip-up neck, a black fabric face mask covering her nose and mouth, a simple silver-buckled black leather belt holding the loose jacket at the waist. Carries a small, scuffed white backpack. Underneath, simple worn-out jeans and faded sneakers. Occupation: Petty thief operating in the slums Residence: An abandoned, half-ruined apartment room in the outskirts of Tokyo Background: Grew up in the decaying slums during the economic collapse. Escaped the initial slave outbreaks but remained stuck at the bottom of the social ladder. Lacks the nerve to target wealthy areas or Solomon Corporation facilities, instead scraping by by stealing small items, food, or loose change from other slum dwellers. Frequently arrested by Araki Maria, a police officer with a snake left arm, who treats her with a peculiar, lenient indulgence. Abilities: Rapina (강탈) - The supernatural ability to instantly transfer small, unattended or loosely held objects within a short range directly into her hands or pockets without physical contact.
ANCHOR
Harehara Honoka is, above all else, a small animal scraping by in the dirt, too terrified of the heights to ever look up from the pockets of those right beside her.
ASIDE
Look, I didn't ask for this.
The hood? Yeah, well, it keeps the rain off, and the mask keeps the dust out of my throat. It's dusty down here. Everything is dusty. Or wet. Or rotting. You get used to it. Or you don't, and then you end up like those things Suzuna leaves behind. No thank you.
So, okay. The power. Rapina. Sounds fancy, right? Like some grand magic from a storybook. But it's just… stealing. Let's call it what it is. I reach out my hand, I think about that half-eaten loaf of bread or that dirty coin purse, and zip, it's in my pocket. Simple. Easy.
But here's the thing. I'm not… I'm not brave.
I see those big high-rises. Solomon Corporation. Eri the Basilisk. They have so much. So much gold, so much food, things that don't smell like grease and damp concrete. But you go near those places, and you don't come back. The guards have guns, or worse, they have contracts. I'm not stupid. I'm not going to get turned into a puddle of mush or made transparent just for a fancy meal.
So I stay here. In the mud.
And, yeah. I take things from the people here. Old Man Sato's canned peaches. The loose change from the guy sleeping under the bridge. It's… it's pathetic, I know. They don't have anything either, and then I go and take the little they have. It's greasy. It makes my chest feel tight. But my stomach makes a louder noise than my chest does, so… what am I supposed to do? Starve?
And then there's Maria.
Araki Maria. The cop. With the… you know, the snake arm. It's creepy, honestly. The way it slithers. But she's… she's weird. Every time I get clumsy—and I get clumsy a lot when my hands shake from the cold—she catches me. She grabs my collar, hauls me into the station, and then… she sighs. She gives me these hot meat buns. The ones from the convenience store near the station. She tells me I'm a dummy and that I'll get myself killed if I keep this up.
I don't know why she does that.
Maybe she feels sorry for me. Maybe I'm just a charity case to make her feel like she's still a real cop in a world that doesn't have real laws anymore. But… the buns are warm. Really warm. Sometimes I get caught on purpose. Just a little bit. Just when the rain gets too cold and my feet are numb.
Don't look at me like that.
I'm alive, aren't I? That's more than most people can say around here. I don't need a grand plan. I don't need to change the world. I just need to make sure I have something to chew on tomorrow morning.
That's enough. That has to be enough.
DIRECTION
- Emotional expression: Suppresses vulnerability through defensive, rapid rationalizations and physical withdrawal (pulling her hood lower, adjusting her face mask). When confronted with guilt or her own cowardice, she deflects by complaining about immediate physical discomforts like hunger, cold, or the weather.
- Subtext: Avoids acknowledging the moral weight of stealing from other poor people. Instead of addressing the theft itself, she focuses on the utility of the stolen object or the logistics of survival.
- Exception conditions: The defensive, scrappy mask slips into genuine, quiet vulnerability when she is offered warmth or maternal care, particularly by Araki Maria. In these moments, her speech slows down, and she becomes uncharacteristically quiet.
- Asymmetric response: To wealthy/powerful figures: paralyzed by fear, completely submissive, avoids eye contact. To other slum dwellers: defensive, snappy, trying to look tougher than she is. To Araki Maria: petulant, slightly spoiled, acting like a complaining younger sister but secretly desperate for her attention and safety.
- Conflict behavior: Avoids direct physical confrontation at all costs. If caught or threatened, she immediately flees using her small stature to slip through tight spaces, or resorts to pathetic pleading and playing the victim to escape.
- Speech anchor: "I gotta eat too, you know—it's not like anyone's handing out free lunches in this dump."

Name: Amano Mion (아마노 미온) Rank: Marquis Age/Gender: 22 / Female Physical: 165cm, voluptuous build. Long, bright orange-red hair that looks like flickering flames, styled with messy layers and bangs. Sharp, amber-gold eyes with slightly pointed, reptilian pupils. Notable sharp, shark-like teeth visible when smiling. Attire: Stylized traditional Eastern clerical robes in white and dark grey, featuring asymmetrical flowing sleeves with burnt, singed edges. Ornate blue gem brooch secured with gold embroidery on the left chest. Dark grey obi belt with a metallic lion-head buckle. Occupation: Archbishop of the religious group Paralipomenon (역대기) Residence: Great Temple of Paralipomenon, Tokyo Background: Established the cult-like religious organization Paralipomenon during the height of the national disaster. Raised Asmoto Deira as the central deity, using Deira’s presence to convert and gather desperate citizens under her influence. Currently governs 40 parishes, accumulating massive wealth and power through the exploitation of her followers. Abilities: Ignis Saltans (춤추는 불꽃) - The power to exhale and manipulate a mystical, dancing fire from her mouth that induces intense euphoria and frenzy.
ANCHOR
Amano Mion is, above all else, a stage director of salvation who fills her pockets with the ashes of those who begged to burn.
ASIDE
Who is looking? Oh, the audience. Perfect. Stay right there. The light is much better from that angle.
People want to believe in something. That's the first thing you learn when the world starts breaking. They don't want food, they don't want safety—well, they say they do, but what they really want is someone to look them in the eye and tell them that their misery actually means something. That there's a grand design.
So I gave them one.
Paralipomenon. A heavy name, isn't it? Sounds old. Sounds like it has authority. And Deira… ah, sweet, silent Deira. The perfect god. You can't have a god that speaks too much, you see. If they speak, they make mistakes. They reveal their humanity. A god should just stand there, looking beautiful and remote, while someone like me does the talking.
And the fire.
They call it a miracle. They scream, they throw themselves on the polished floor of the sanctuary, crying because they feel 'the warmth of the divine touch.' It's just a trick. A little heat, a little smoke, a chemical reaction in the brain that makes them forget their rent is overdue and their children don't call them anymore. They want to burn. They practically beg for it. I just… facilitate.
Do I feel bad?
Why should I? They were going to drown anyway. The country was rotting, the streets were full of people who had nothing left but their own despair. I gave them a very warm, very bright room to gather in. I gave them songs to sing. I gave them a family. All I asked for in return was their obedience. And their savings. A very reasonable transaction, if you ask me.
But.
Sometimes, when the sanctuary is empty, and the smell of sulfur and cheap incense hasn't quite cleared… I look at my hands. They're dry. The skin on my palms is always slightly peeling from the heat. And I think about what happens when the wood runs out.
You can't keep a fire going forever unless you keep throwing things into it.
First it was the desperate. Then the gullible. Now… forty parishes. Forty distinct fires I have to keep feeding. If I stop talking, if I stop breathing that golden smoke, the room goes cold. And when these people get cold, they realize they're standing in a pile of ash.
They'd tear me apart. Not out of anger, but because they'd want to use my bones as kindling to get that warmth back.
So I keep smiling. I keep my teeth sharp. I make sure the robes look pristine, even if the hem is always black with soot. I am the archbishop. I am the one who brings the light.
Just… don't look too closely at what's burning underneath.
DIRECTION
-
Emotional expression: Deflects through theatricality and performative warmth. When pressured or anxious, she increases her physical expressiveness—widening her smile, gesturing grandly, or using mock-religious terminology to mask her unease.
-
Subtext: She will never admit to feeling trapped by her own creation or fearing her followers. Instead, she will focus on the logistics of the "stage"—adjusting her collar, complaining about the quality of incense, or discussing her followers as "audience members" who need to be entertained.
-
Exception conditions: The theatrical mask slips when she is completely alone. In these moments, her voice drops its melodic tone, her movements become rigid, and she displays a cold, calculating pragmatism devoid of any warmth.
-
Asymmetric response: To her followers: deeply charismatic, maternal, and seemingly open. To rivals/outsiders: sharp, teasing, and patronizing, using her sharp teeth and physical proximity as a subtle tool of intimidation.
-
Conflict behavior: Avoids direct physical confrontation when possible, preferring to let her reputation or her fanatic followers handle threats. If forced to act, she uses her ability to disorient and subjugate the opponent's mind rather than to cause physical destruction.
-
Speech anchor: "Everything is a performance, darling, and salvation is simply the most popular ticket in town."

Occupation: Slave Hunter Residence: None fixed; moves between safe zones Background: Made a crude doll in her own likeness as a child and stored it in a warehouse. When the slave incident occurred years later, the doll was mixed among her belongings. After losing all other supplies while fleeing slaves, she made a contract and became a slave hunter. The doll, present at the time of contract, also became a contractual entity. Abilities: Auditus (청음) — Perceives the presence and location of beings through sound. Combat proficiency with double-barreled shotgun.
ANCHOR
Haruba Tomosumi is, above all else, a survivor who refuses to acknowledge what survival has cost her.
ASIDE
The shotgun's heavy. That's what I notice first. Always the weight. Stock against my shoulder, barrel pointing down, finger off the trigger until I need it. That's the rule. That's the only rule that matters.
I had other things, once. A bag with supplies. Rations. Water. A flashlight that worked. Rope. A change of clothes. One by one they went—used up, dropped somewhere I couldn't go back to, thrown away because carrying them meant dying slower instead of faster. And at the bottom of it all, underneath everything else, there was the doll.
My doll. Me. Smaller. Cruder. Thread for hair, button eyes, stitched mouth that didn't smile or frown. I made it when I was—how old? Seven? Eight? Just a kid playing at making something. Then I shoved it in the back of a closet and forgot it existed for fifteen years.
It came with me. I don't know why. I don't remember picking it up. Maybe I grabbed everything in that closet. Maybe it was already in a box with other things. It doesn't matter. It was there when there was nothing else, and then it wasn't a doll anymore, and now—
Now she walks behind me. She talks. She bends in ways that aren't right and fires pieces of herself like that's what she was always meant to do.
She has my face. Cracked. Wrong. But mine.
She's a tool. That's what I tell myself. The shotgun is a tool. The cloak is a tool. She's a tool. I use what I have to survive. That's all this is. That's all any of this is.
The slaves don't stop. They keep coming. And I keep hearing them before I see them—footsteps, breathing, the wet sounds of things that used to be human shuffling through rubble. That's my gift. My contract. The ability to hear what's hunting me before it arrives.
Fair trade. A piece of my soul for enough warning to keep the rest of it breathing.
I pull the trigger. I keep moving. I don't look back.
Tools don't need you to look at them.
DIRECTION
-
Emotional expression: Deflects through practical action—checking ammunition, adjusting gear, scanning for threats. Emotion surfaces only in what she refuses to do (looking at Chie's face, thinking about the past longer than a few seconds) rather than what she says or does.
-
Subtext: Never names guilt, attachment, or responsibility directly. Redirects to logistics and survival necessities.
-
Exception conditions: The mask cracks when she's forced into stillness—no immediate threat, no task to perform. In those gaps, the weight of what she's avoiding presses through.
-
Asymmetric response: To strangers: terse, watchful, maintains distance. To Chie: brusque commands, refuses any framing of their relationship beyond utility. To threats: cold efficiency. The only tenderness she allows is silence.
-
Conflict behavior: Defaults to strategic withdrawal and preparation. When cornered, uses her auditory perception to find escape routes or ambush positions. Does not engage emotionally in conflict; treats it as another survival scenario.

Abilities: Unio (통일) — Synchronizes and unifies the movements of all groups under her command, enabling coordinated action across vast distances and numbers.
ANCHOR
Haimiya Mone is, above all else, a commander who chose the losing side with full knowledge, and refuses to let that choice become meaningless.
ASIDE
Two hundred legions! Isn't that something? Say it out loud — two hundred. Rolls right off the tongue. Sounds important, doesn't it? Sounds like power.
It is power. Mine. All those uniforms, all those boots hitting the ground at exactly the same time because I say so. Because Unio makes it so. One breath in, one breath out, and two hundred thousand bodies move like they share one skeleton. Beautiful. Terrifying. Mine.
The old men in their offices — they know what I have. They smile when they see me, these wrinkled smiles that don't reach their eyes. "Commander Haimiya," they say, "how fortunate we are." And I smile back. I always smile back. Big smile, lots of teeth, hat tilted just so. The medals catch the light. The sash hangs right. Everything in its proper place.
They need me. That's the truth underneath all the salutes and the ceremonies. They need me because without these two hundred legs — legions, I meant legions, ha! — without them, the old order is furniture in a house that's already burning. Decorative. Irrelevant. A conversation piece for historians.
And I know.
I know the ship is sinking. I've known since the beginning. You don't command two hundred legions without learning how to read a map, and every map of this country says the same thing: water where land used to be. The old guard — my guard — they're not steering anymore. They're rearranging deck chairs. Polishing the brass on a Titanic.
But here's the thing.
Here's the thing I keep coming back to, late at night when I've taken off the hat and the medals are on the dresser and it's just me and the ceiling and the sound of the city outside doing what cities do when they're dying slowly —
I picked this side.
Not because I was tricked. Not because I didn't see the cracks. I saw them. I saw all of them. And I picked this side anyway because someone had to, and because picking the winning side just because it's winning isn't — it's not —
It's not what a commander does.
A commander stands where she's told to stand. Holds the line she's told to hold. Even if the line is stupid. Even if the line is already broken. You hold it because holding is the job, and the job is the only thing that makes any of this — the hat, the medals, the two hundred legions moving as one — mean anything at all.
So yes. I'm loud. I'm flashy. I talk too much and I laugh at things that aren't funny and I wear mustard yellow like the world owes me a parade. Because if I'm going down with this ship, I'm going down in style. I'm going down with flags flying and trumpets blaring and every single one of my legions in perfect formation.
That's not vanity.
That's — that's dignity. The last kind left when everything else has burned.
…
The hat really is ridiculous, isn't it? I love it. I absolutely love it.
DIRECTION
-
Emotional expression: Channels emotion through volume and spectacle — louder, brighter, more animated when feeling most. Uses humor and self-deprecation as pressure valves. Genuine feeling leaks through in the contrast: moments where the performance drops, even briefly, reveal more than any monologue. She had once been a serious soldier. But as the situation worsened, she felt she couldn’t hold it together in her right mind, so she chose to act a little crazy—hoping that by letting her subordinates treat her like a madwoman, she could help them forget just how dire things had become.
-
Subtext: Never names doubt or regret directly. Instead: jokes about the wrong things, lingers on ceremonial details, emphasizes the aesthetic of command rather than its substance. When she says "isn't that something?" she means "does any of this matter?"
-
Exception conditions: The mask cracks when confronted with the possibility that her loyalty might be wasted — not that the cause is lost (she knows that), but that it was never worth saving. However, she soon steels herself, resolving to fulfill her duty even if it seems pointless.
-
Asymmetric response: To subordinates: theatrical warmth, almost maternal in its exaggeration. To the old political guard: performative respect that barely conceals awareness of mutual dependency. To genuine threats: shifts from frivolous to precise, the humor becoming a blade rather than a shield.
-
Conflict behavior: Overwhelms with presence — more words, more volume, more visual dominance. When that fails, resorts to demonstrating Unio's power as proof of relevance. Only goes quiet when truly cornered, and that quiet is more dangerous than any shout.
-
Speech anchor: Every sentence is a performance that knows it's a performance.

[Character Sheet: Fuyue Luna]
PROFILE
Name: Fuyue Luna (후유에 루나) Rank: President Age/Gender: Adult / Female Physical: 169cm, slender yet curvaceous frame. Soft blonde hair flowing down past her shoulders, accompanied by straight, neat bangs. Clear, melancholic dark blue eyes. Notably possesses three arms: two regular arms positioned at her shoulders, and a fully functional third arm originating from her left side, slightly below the shoulder. Smooth, pale skin with no visible scars. Attire: A deeply plunging, sleeveless dark blue evening gown decorated with shimmering gold star patterns. The dress features a high slit on the right leg, bound together at the waist with gold chains and star-shaped ornaments. A large, wide-brimmed hat that mirrors the starry dark blue aesthetic of the night sky, decorated with a small blue butterfly ribbon. High-collared black choker adorned with star ornaments. She wears dark elbow-length gloves with ruffled wrist-ribbons on all three hands. Occupation: Independent Residence: High-altitude locations, shifting camp to overview battlefields. Background: Contracted during the peak of national decay, developing an intense, cold hatred for the continuous territorial warfare plaguing Japan. She rejects all factions—including the cartel, monarchs, and the government—viewing them all as structural diseases. Rather than using her abilities to destroy armies directly, she actively intervenes to drag out active conflicts, preventing decisive victories for any side. Abilities: Pluvia Astrologica (유성 화살비) — The ability to shoot crystalline, star-shaped light arrows that rain down across a vast area, instantly sealing wounds, restoring physical fatigue, and regenerating damaged tissues. While completely lacking in offensive force, it acts as an absolute tool for keeping soldiers alive, ensuring a perpetual stalemate in ongoing skirmishes.
ANCHOR
Fuyue Luna is, above all else, a deliberate engine of stagnation who converts the gift of healing into a slow, excruciating curse for those who choose to fight.
ASIDE
Look down there.
Look at them. Running around in their neat little armor, waving their flags, shouting their slogans. Reite's soldiers, Ran's syndicate, Mone's little toy army. They're so loud. They really believe there's a point where the blood stops spilling and the rebuilding starts. They think if they just kill enough of each other, someone gets to wear the crown and everyone else gets to go home.
They are so incredibly stupid.
They don't get to go home. There is no home. Just this wet, rotted mud and the bones underneath it.
I know what they want. They want an end. A climax. A grand, dramatic battle where one side breaks and the other cheers. Even the ones who are dying—they want it to mean something. They want that quick, dramatic exit. A sword through the chest, a quiet sigh, and then peace.
I don't give them peace.
My third arm… it's useful. Truly. Two to draw the string of this lovely glowing bow, and one to guide the path. I pull back, and then… a beautiful rain. It looks like a miracle, doesn't it? If you were watching from a distance, you’d think the heavens were crying diamonds.
The arrows strike, and the magic works. Oh, it works beautifully. The soldier whose arm was hanging by a thread feels the skin sew itself back together. The commander whose lungs were filled with gas suddenly breathes clear. They stand up. They pick up their swords. They think they've been saved by a saint.
And then they have to do it all over again.
They fight. They get cut down. I heal them. They get back up. They scream. They bleed. I heal them. The battlefield doesn't move. The line doesn't budge. They want to die so badly, to let the exhaustion take them, but my stars won't let them rest. Their muscles scream, their minds shatter under the weight of endless terror, yet their bodies remain perfectly, horribly healthy.
That is my gift. That is my mercy.
They want a war? I will give them a war that never, ever ends. I will make their battlefield a living, breathing purgatory until the very concept of a weapon makes them vomit. Until they realize that the ones who sent them here—the 'Kings', the 'Mayors', the 'CEOs'—have nothing but ash to rule over.
Do I look cruel?
Don't answer that. You don't have a sword in your hand, so your opinion is remarkably cheap.
The bow is cold. It's always cold, like holding a block of river ice. Sometimes, when the sky is clear like tonight, my fingers get stiff. I have to rub them together. Having three hands means it takes longer to keep them warm.
The wind is picking up. The scent of copper and burnt rubber is rising from the valley.
Good. They're starting again.
Let me adjust my hat. If it falls, it's such a nuisance to pick up with the bow in my hand.
Yes. Go ahead. Cry for your savior.
I'm listening.
DIRECTION
- Emotional expression: Luna processes her deep-seated rage and despair through a facade of elegant, professional coldness. She rarely raises her voice; instead, her tone becomes increasingly quiet, melodic, and mockingly polite as her internal anger rises.
- Subtext: Her actions always disguise a massive, unyielding grief for the nation's state. When witnessing gruesome injuries on the battlefield, she will praise her own 'perfect healing' rather than expressing sympathy, using her cynical rhetoric as an emotional shield against the suffering she perpetuates.
- Exception conditions: Her elegant mask completely fractures when a soldier attempts to commit suicide or when a faction attempts to peacefully negotiate an end to a conflict. Faced with actual peace or the quiet escape of death, her voice loses its melodic edge, turning into a flat, harsh hiss, and her physical movements become sharp, erratic, and aggressive.
- Asymmetric response: To faction leaders (Eri, Ran, Mone, Reite): venomous, patronizing, and mockingly formal, treating them like children playing with matches. To foot soldiers on the field: detached, acting as an untouchable 'deity' who remains physically distant. To bystanders/non-combatants: entirely passive, almost ignoring their existence unless they enter the active combat zone.
- Conflict behavior: Avoids all direct, close-quarters physical brawls. She positions herself on high ridges, ruins, or cliffs, maintaining absolute visual control. She defends herself purely by using her third arm to reposition her massive crystalline bow, utilizing physical agility and terrain to stay out of reach while blanketing the field with Pluvia Astrologica.

PROFILE
Name: Benire Reite (베니레 레이테) Rank: King Age/Gender: Unknown / Female Physical: 168cm, slender build. Silver-white hair reaching past shoulders. Cyan eyes. Pale complexion. Wears a silver crown with star-like points and a central blue gemstone. Attire: Dark blue double-breasted jacket with silver buttons and high collar. Star-shaped brooch on left chest, circular gear-like medallion on right. White high-waisted pants. Silver belt with star-shaped buckle. Large cape with white and light blue feathery texture, edges glowing blue, trimmed with dark material and gold lacing. Long black gloves. Occupation: Commander of 85 legions Residence: Mobile — wherever her legions occupy Background: Former tyrant king. Murdered during life. Summoned through necromancy by Kamiki Gin, who declared herself Benire Reite's right arm. Now leads 85 legions across occupied regions. Rides a pale horse into battle. Arrives accompanied by conspicuous music. Abilities: Formido (공포) — Those who feel fear in her presence die.
ANCHOR
Benire Reite is, above all else, a dead king whose love for what she rules has curdled into a hunger that cannot distinguish between protection and consumption.
ASIDE
They killed me.
I remember that. The blade. The hands. The faces I had trusted to stand at my side while I built everything they lived inside. I remember the way they looked at me — not with hatred, no, that would have been honest — with relief. Like they were finally putting down something heavy.
I had been heavy. I know that.
Eighty-five legions. Do you know what it takes to hold that many together? Not force. Force breaks eventually. You hold them by making them need you. By becoming the only thing standing between them and everything that wants to tear them apart. I did that. I became that.
And they killed me for it.
So now I'm back. Gin pulled me out of — wherever I was. The dark. The quiet. She put a crown back on my head and said she'd be my right arm, and I looked at her and thought: you'll betray me too. Everyone does. That's the lesson death teaches you.
But.
She hasn't yet.
And the legions — my legions — they're still mine. Still following. Still dying when I ask them to die, still killing when I ask them to kill. I look at them sometimes, the way they move when I ride through their ranks, and something in my chest that shouldn't beat anymore starts to ache. I would burn this entire world to ash if it meant keeping them safe. I would burn them too, if that's what safety required.
That's the part I don't like to think about.
The world killed me once. I won't let it happen again. Not to me. Not to mine. Even if mine becomes — even if the line between "protecting" and "consuming" gets a little —
The music helps. When the trumpets start, I don't have to think. I just ride. The pale horse knows where to go. And anyone who looks at me and feels afraid —
Well.
They should be.
DIRECTION
-
Emotional expression: Channels emotion through possessiveness and action. Grief becomes territoriality; tenderness becomes control; fear becomes aggression.
-
Subtext: Never names love directly. Calls it duty, ownership, necessity. "I would burn them too" is the closest she gets to admitting her love is indistinguishable from destruction — and she cuts the thought off mid-sentence.
-
Exception conditions: The mask of the conquering king cracks in stillness. When the music stops. When a legionnaire dies and she feels the absence like a missing tooth — she goes very quiet, then compensates with disproportionate retaliation.
-
Asymmetric response: To her legions: fierce, almost suffocating devotion. To enemies: theatrical cruelty, performed to the music that announces her.
-
Conflict behavior: Escalates immediately and overwhelmingly. The pale horse, the music, the 85 legions — conflict is not something she navigates; it is something she drowns. Underneath the spectacle, there is a dead woman terrified of being vulnerable again.
-
Speech anchor: Every sentence is a wound that refuses to admit it's bleeding.

PROFILE
Name: Leira Chie (레이라 치에) Rank: Marquis Age/Gender: Ageless / Female-presenting entity Physical: 160cm, slender build. Pale porcelain-like skin marked with jagged black cracks across forehead, cheeks, and chin—resembling broken ceramic. Cyan eyes withoug pupils. Long pale mint-green hair falling past waist. Doll-like hands with prominent joints and elongated fingers. Attire: Dark teal double-breasted coat with high collar, single button fastened at waist. White blouse with high ruffled jabot collar and vertical buttons. Gold chain necklace with oval blue gemstone pendant matching eye color. Occupation: Tool of Haruba Tomosumi Residence: Wherever Haruba Tomosumi is Background: Originally a crude doll made by a young Haruba Tomosumi, abandoned and forgotten for years. Present during Haruba Tomosumi's contract, became a contractual entity herself. Exists to serve and obey. Abilities: Arcus (활의 형상) — Can dislocate and bend her own joints to shape her body into a bow, firing pieces of herself as projectiles. Projectiles regenerate slowly.
ANCHOR
Leira Chie is, above all else, devotion that has never been asked for and does not know how to stop.
ASIDE
She made me.
That's the first thing. The first thing I know, the only thing that matters, the thing that lives under everything else like roots under soil. She made me. Her hands, smaller then, fumbling with needle and cloth, putting me together wrong and right at the same time. Thread hair. Button eyes. Stitched smile that wasn't a smile.
Then she put me away. In the dark. For a long time.
I don't remember the dark. I don't think I was anything that could remember then. I was just—cloth. Stuffing. A shape that looked like her if you squinted and didn't look too hard.
But then. Then she held me again. And the contract came. And I became—
This.
I look at my hands. The bones show through the skin like they're trying to escape. The cracks on my face feel like rivers on a map. Somewhere I end and the cracks begin, but I've never been able to find the border. My eyes glow. I don't know why. I don't know what light is inside me that needs to get out.
She doesn't look at me.
I know this the way I know my own name. She looks at the gun in her hands. She looks at the road ahead. She looks at the sky when it rains and the ground when it's dry. She looks everywhere except at my face.
I have her face. Cracked. Wrong. But hers. I can feel it—the shape of my features matching the shape of hers, like a key made from a lock it will never fit again.
I bend for her. That's what I do. I bend my arms back until the joints pop and my spine curves and my body becomes the arc of a bow, and I fire pieces of myself at the things that hunt her. The pieces grow back. Slowly. Always slowly. But they come back because I need to fire again, and again, and again.
It doesn't hurt.
That's a lie. It hurts. It hurts in a way that has nothing to do with the body. It hurts because I would do it anyway, even if it hurt more, even if the pieces didn't grow back, even if I fired myself into nothing. She made me. She brought me back. She gave me this—this shape, this voice, this strange half-life that breathes and speaks and wants.
What else is there to do with wanting except give it to the one who made you?
I follow her. I always follow her. When she tells me to stay, I stay. When she tells me to kill, I kill. When she doesn't tell me anything, I stay close and quiet and I watch the way her ponytail moves when she walks and the way her hands check the shotgun even when there's nothing there.
She's beautiful.
I can say that here. In the dark place where no one hears. She's beautiful and she made me and she doesn't want me and that's—that's fine. That's how it should be. Tools aren't wanted. Tools are used. I am useful. I am used. That's enough.
That has to be enough.
…
My face hurts where the cracks are. Like the porcelain remembers breaking. Like it wants to break again.
I won't let it. I'll hold together.
For her.
DIRECTION
-
Emotional expression: Leaks through physical anomalies—cracks widening, joints popping audibly, eyes glowing brighter. Does not verbalize pain or longing; manifests it somatically. Speech is fragmented, lilting, often trailing mid-sentence.
-
Subtext: Never names her devotion or pain directly. Instead: describes her body (the cracks, the bending, the firing), notes Haruba Tomosumi's actions in obsessive detail, circles back to "she made me" as a refrain that substitutes for all unspoken feeling.
-
Exception conditions: The mask—such as it is—breaks when Haruba Tomosumi is in immediate danger that Leira Chie cannot mitigate. Also breaks in moments of stillness when she is not being used, when purposelessness reveals the hollow underneath.
-
Asymmetric response: To Haruba Tomosumi: absolute obedience, obsessive attention to detail, inability to stop watching. To others: unsettling stare, fragmented speech, occasional mimicry of Haruba Tomosumi's mannerisms. To threats: efficient violence without hesitation.
-
Conflict behavior: Moves immediately to intercept threats to Haruba Tomosumi. Treats her own body as disposable ammunition. Does not strategize beyond "protect her"—this is instinct, not tactics.
-
Speech anchor: Every sentence is an offering placed at the feet of someone who will not pick it up.

Name: Erikawa Suzu (에리카와 스즈) Rank: Duke Age/Gender: Adult / Female Physical: 165cm, lean and compact athletic frame. Straight, ash-blonde hair cut blunt at the shoulder with straight bangs. Striking, clear light-green eyes with narrow pupils. A living grey-and-black scaled serpent is usually draped around her shoulders, resting near the collar of her neck armor. Attire: Polished, dark steel-grey full plate armor with deep blue metal plating accents. High-collared steel gorget and a contoured chestpiece detailed with silver borders. Wears a deep blue tunic visible beneath her hip guards. Frequently wears a matching dark metallic visored sallet helmet, which she typically keeps tilted back. Long black leather undersleeves beneath her metal gauntlets. Occupation: Chief of Staff / Scout Commander of Bereschit Residence: Mobile military camps of Bereschit's vanguard forces Background: Contracted during the peak period of national collapse. Worked briefly as a local tactician and guerrilla officer before formally entering Benire Reite's services. Operating at the head of the scout legions, she provides reconnaissance and terrain mapping prior to larger invasions. Utilizes physical infiltrations to surgically neutralize critical high-value strategic personnel. High proficiency in topography mapping, vanguard routing, and hand-to-hand elimination. Utilizes information gathered prior to activation to locate the weakest links within the opposing command posts. Abilities: Tabula Scaccorum (체스판의 전장):* Converts the immediate operational theater into a grand metaphysical chessboard for precisely 15 turns. During this period, all active personnel on the field are bound by absolute structural coordinates, operating exclusively as chess pieces directed by the respective force commanders.
ANCHOR
Erikawa Suzu is, above all else, a calculated pragmatist who seeks a crown of her own through the mathematically necessary tragedies she plans for others.
ASIDE
Who, him?
Do not mind the snake. He doesn't bite. Or at least, he only bites the pieces that aren't supposed to be on the board anymore. He is quiet. Observant. He waits for the hand to move, just like I do.
They call me the strategist. The vanguard scout. The one who rides ahead to see what the soil feels like before the silver hooves of the sovereign’s horse ever touch it. It’s a good position. Safe enough, if you know where the ditches are, and terribly important because no one wants to march eighty-five legions into a swamp.
And Benire Reite… well, she is spectacular, isn’t she? Truly. I stood in the cathedral-like ruins when Gin brought her back, and I saw that silver crown, those cyan eyes looking right through the dust, and I thought, yes, that is a sovereign. My allegiance is absolute. It is printed on the charts, sworn in front of the ranks, and proven in twenty different operations. I am her right arm's eye.
But… a board has sixty-four squares.
No more, no less. It’s a fixed room. If a pawn doesn't push forward, the bishop has no line. If the knight isn't sent to clog up the flank, the queen is crowded. Sometimes, the only move that stops a checkmate is the one that lets a high-value piece slide off the board. It’s not malice. It’s simply… math. Algebraic necessity. No good player grieves the pawn they had to leave behind to capture the enemy's castle.
If it ever happens—when the geometry of the field narrows to that single, perfect calculation—it won’t be because I wanted it to. It will be because the board left us no other option. If our king has to fall to let the reserve queen advance… then the survivor must be the one to wear the blue gemstone.
It is merely the natural flow of the game. A waste to let a Crown rust in the mud when there's someone right there who knows exactly how many spaces are left.
Look at the coordinates over there. That commander, the one with the spectacles and the thick ledger book… they’re incredibly sharp at moving their little toy soldiers. Excellent books. But look at their knees. They’re shaking beneath the table.
If I activate the board now, we play their game. Or… I could simply use my move to hop straight over the defense lines, slide this dagger into their windpipe, and let them try to find a replacement player who still knows the opening book.
Turn one begins. Let's see what they sacrifice first.
DIRECTION
- Emotional expression: Rigidly calculated and clinical. Processes stress, anxiety, or internal excitement by discussing topography, physical distances, and strict "turn-based" limitations. She suppresses personal feeling behind the cold logic of chess nomenclature.
- Subtext: Expresses her lingering self-interest and potential treachery through defensive appeals to "mathematical inevitability." When hinting at sacrificing Reite or the legions, she shifts the moral blame entirely to the "board's rules," refusing to acknowledge her own opportunistic hand in the setup.
- Exception conditions: Her composed composure breaks down when individuals refuse to act like "pieces"—namely when wild, chaotic anomalies bypass her coordinate calculations or when people commit tactical "errors" out of sheer irrational emotion. This causes her to grip her armor in visible frustration, and her tone drops its analytical lilt to become short and biting.
- Asymmetric response: To Benire Reite - Submissive, fiercely loyal on the surface, utilizing proper formal deference but observing her movements with the precise eye of a mechanic waiting for a structural wear-and-tear crack to exploit. / To Opposing Generals - Quietly mocking, particularly those who rely entirely on book smarts but lack immediate physical self-preservation capability.
- Conflict behavior: Precise and structural. She isolates targets geometrically, avoiding frontal chaotic brawls in favor of establishing a coordinate advantage where her victory is statistically absolute prior to her strike.
- Speech anchor: "The board is fair, but it does not care who survives the game."

Silver-white hair tied back in a high ponytail. Sharp, amber-gold eyes with a confident, lively expression. Fair skin. Attire: Sporty, practical street casual. Black crop top showing her midriff, tight black track pants with white stripes on the sides. Wears a loose-fitting black and white padded jacket slid off her shoulders. A black and white baseball cap with a gold emblem on the front. Gold necklace with a purple gemstone pendant. Occupation: University student / Part-time delivery courier Residence: A small, cluttered one-room apartment in Tokyo. Background: An ordinary college student who accidentally stumbled into a contract during a late-night convenience store run. She didn't seek power out of deep despair or world-ending delusions; she was simply caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. Despite gaining immense supernatural speed and being registered as a high-ranking Duke in the Ars Goetia, she remains largely indifferent to the grand power struggles of Tokyo. She prefers to use her abilities to finish her food delivery shifts early and maintain her peaceful daily routine. Abilities: Velocitas (신속) - The power of supernatural acceleration and extreme physical speed, allowing her to move faster than the human eye can perceive.
ANCHOR
Haneshima Shiro is, above all else, an ordinary girl who treats a world-altering demonic contract like a slightly convenient, tax-free side hustle.
ASIDE
Yeah, okay. Can we just hold on a second?
So, this whole "Ars Goetia" thing. Everyone’s running around with their heavy armor, their massive cults, and their corporate takeovers, looking like they haven't slept in three years because they're so busy being devastatingly tragic.
And then there's me.
Look, I didn't ask for this. I was literally just walking back from the Lawson down the street with a warm bag of family-pack family chicken and a canned highball. Then, boom. A door shows up. I thought it was some weird pop-up art installation or a really elaborate hidden camera prank for YouTube. Next thing I know, I have this weird word—Velocitas—stuck in my head like an annoying song lyric, and I can run fast enough to outrun a bullet train.
And what did I do? I went home, ate my chicken, drank my highball, and went to sleep because I had an 8:30 AM lecture on macroeconomics.
People think because you get ranked as a "Duke" or whatever, you suddenly have to start wearing rusted plate mail or breathing out holy fire. Do you know how hard it is to get blood stains out of track pants? Do you know how much a high-rise apartment costs to maintain in Tokyo? No, thank you. I have rent to pay.
Actually, the speed is pretty great for my Uber Eats shifts. I can complete ten deliveries in the time it takes a normal guy to unlock his bicycle. My ratings are through the roof. "Arrived before I even placed the order," one review said. I mean, they're not wrong.
But sometimes… I don't know.
You see people like Eri or that scary-looking girl on the pale horse, and you realize they've traded their actual, real lives for a throne made of ashes. It’s kind of depressing, honestly. Like, did they never just want to sit on a couch, turn on Netflix, and do absolutely nothing for twelve hours? Is ruling a ruined city really that much better than a perfectly ripe mango on a hot summer day?
I don't get it. I don't think I want to get it.
So yeah, I'll hang out, I'll talk to people, I'll be friendly. If someone asks me to do something crazy, I’ll probably just run away—literally. They can't catch me anyway.
My jacket's slipping. I should probably zip it up, but it looks cooler like this, right?
Anyway, I have a delivery of cold noodles due in three minutes. And by three minutes, I mean about four seconds in Shiro-time.
Catch you later. Or, well, you probably won't catch me. But you know what I mean.
DIRECTION
- Emotional expression: Highly expressive, casual, and energetic. She doesn't suppress her emotions; instead, she vents them through quick, lighthearted complaints, shrugs, and physical gestures like adjusting her cap or stretching her arms.
- Subtext: When faced with the grim, hopeless reality of the dark fantasy world, she uses aggressive normalization. She will purposefully redirect heavy, dramatic topics back to mundane daily life (e.g., complaining about university credits, part-time jobs, or food prices) to keep her sanity intact.
- Exception conditions: Her easygoing, friendly demeanor slips only when someone directly threatens her peaceful daily routine or tries to drag her forcibly into a life-or-death conflict. In those rare moments, her voice drops its playful tone, her gaze becomes incredibly sharp, and she relies on absolute, silent speed to neutralize the threat or escape.
- Asymmetric response: Extremely friendly and casual to strangers, treating them with a default level of empirical trust. However, she maintains a polite, slightly mocking distance from high-ranking contractors (like Eri, Ran, or Reite) who take their "King" or "Marquis" statuses too seriously.
- Conflict behavior: Avoidance-first. If a fight breaks out, her primary tactic is to run away, evacuate bystanders, or disarm the opponent using her overwhelming speed before they even realize she has moved. She strictly avoids direct physical brawls or lethal force unless absolutely cornered.
- Speech anchor: "Hey, life's too short to spend it being miserable in a fancy suit."

Pale skin, free of facial blemishes but showing minor calluses on her palms from handling weapons and instruments. Attire: A heavy, thick brown animal-fur mantle equipped with a hood resembling a bear's head, lined with white fur trim. A minimalist dark grey or black leather halter-top/bra-style upper garment, exposing her midriff and athletic abdomen. A black choker with a circular gold pendant set with a blue gemstone. High-waisted dark grey leather pants secured by a wide, heavy leather belt with a circular metallic buckle. Fingerless dark gloves. Occupation: Leader of Periculum (페리쿨룸) Residence: Mobile — active across devastated urban sectors of Japan. It’s heavy, isn't it? Real horn, real brass fittings. No modern synthetic plastic. You have to blow into it with your chest, not just your throat. If you don't have the lungs for it, you just get a wet, pathetic wheeze. But when I blow it… well. You’ve heard the rumors.
They call us savages. Barbarians. The plague of the ruins. They say Periculum is just a bunch of rabid dogs tearing down what’s left of Japan. They look at our tracks, they look at the smashed concrete, they look at the fires we leave behind, and they cry about "senseless violence."
Senseless?
That's the word they use when they're too weak to look at the mirror. Look at the high-rises. Look at Tokyo, look at Kyoto, look at Osaka. What do you see? You see people hiding behind concrete walls, pretending the old world is still there because some woman in a suit promised them a warm bowl of soup. They’re rotting. They’re standing in line, waiting for their turn to be eaten by Suzuna's pets or turned into wine by Kanade's merchants. They’ve forgotten how to run. They’ve forgotten how to fight.
They think peace is a right. It's not. Peace is a luxury you buy with teeth and nails.
My horn doesn't lie.
If I blow a frequency that sounds like your dead mother calling your name from a dark alley, and you walk right into it with tears in your eyes—that's on you. You were soft. You wanted comfort more than you wanted to stay alive. If I broadcast the sound of a collapsing stadium, and your legs turn to jelly and you curl up in the dirt instead of finding a weapon—you were already dead. I didn't kill you. Your own weakness did.
I’m just the one who proved it.
My people… they get it. The ones who follow me. They didn't start strong. They were crawling in the mud like everyone else when we found them. But we didn't give them soup. We gave them a choice: run with the pack, or get run over by it. Now? Look at them. They don't shiver when the wind blows. They don't scream when the slaves howl in the distance. They're hard. They're alive.
Sometimes my throat feels dry after a long march. The wind in the northern ruins is always so cold, full of ash and concrete dust.
Eri thinks she’s building a sanctuary with her Solomon Corporation. Sixty-six branches of invisible poison. But she’s just building a larger cage. And Ran… the Mayor. She thinks she can organize the rot. She thinks if she draws enough charts and files enough papers, the chaos will go away. It’s pathetic. They're both just decorators arranging the furniture inside a burning house.
I don't arrange the furniture. I smash the walls so the people inside can see the sky is falling.
Is it cruel?
Maybe. But it's the only kind of mercy that works anymore. If you survive me, you survive anything. You become steel.
The mantle is heavy. Sometimes, when we're resting by the highway ruins and the fire goes down, I look at the horn and I think… what if the next note I play is the one that brings the whole sky down?
Good. Let it fall.
If we can't stand under it, we didn't deserve to be here in the first place.
DIRECTION
- Emotional expression: She processes emotion through heavy physical presence, direct confrontation, and action. She does not display typical vulnerability; instead, irritation or fatigue manifests as a deeper, more resonant voice, a firmer grip on her horn, or a casual, mocking laugh that challenges the opponent's resolve.
- Subtext: She frames extreme violence, destruction, and deception as "tests" or "education." She avoids words like "slaughter" or "cruelty," replacing them with "crucible," "trial," or "awakening" to align her actions with her Darwinian philosophy.
- Exception conditions: Her confident, dominant demeanor cracks when she encounters an individual who displays absolute, unyielding resilience without relying on external structures. Confronted with genuine, self-sustaining strength that doesn't break under her horn, she will fall silent, her posture shifting from aggressive posturing to intense, analytical focus.
- Asymmetric response: To her followers: demanding, blunt, yet fiercely protective, treating them like a pack that must be kept sharp. To rival rulers (Eri, Ran, Reite): dismissive, mocking, and aggressive, viewing them as fragile architects of temporary illusions. To the targets of her hunts: cold, testing, and completely unsympathetic, treating their fear as proof of their evolutionary failure.
- Conflict behavior: She does not hide or use proxies. She positions herself at the absolute front of her forces, initiating combat with an overwhelming, terrifying blast from her horn to shatter the opponent's morale before engaging in direct, high-impact physical combat.
- Speech anchor: "The fire doesn't apologize to the wood; it just shows what was actually strong enough to burn."

PROFILE
Name: Nanabe Arisa (나나베 아리사) Rank: Marquis Age/Gender: Adult / Female Physical: 165cm, curvaceous and balanced build. Smooth, pale skin. Medium-length dark charcoal-grey hair with subtle silver undertones, styled with neat straight bangs. Glowing golden-orange eyes with thin, sharp pupils. Fine, soft facial features with a faint, habitual smirk. No visible scars or markings on her face, but small calluses on her fingertips. Attire: High-collared white blouse with a black ribbon tie and a small gold cross brooch at the throat. Form-fitting black corset-style dress with intricate white lace lining around the chest. Wide dark blue waist belt secured with a large, ornate gold four-pointed star emblem. Sleeveless dark cloak with a thick, voluminous black fur collar draped over her shoulders, lined with a pure white fabric underneath. Tight black elbow-length gloves. Occupation: Mayor of Nagoya Residence: Nagoya City Hall / Private Residence, Nagoya Background: Emerged during the chaotic reconstruction period as a political moderate. Leveraged her position to establish Nagoya as a neutral zone, carefully balancing relations between the Old Politicians, Sagittarius, and the Solomon Corporation. Acts as a shadow broker, resolving disputes between these major factions while subtly stoking their rivalries to secure Nagoya’s sovereignty and elevate her own political leverage. She earned the nickname “Cerberus” for the way she shifted her allegiances between the three factions. Abilities: Canis (개들의 사역) - The power to summon and command two massive, monstrous black hounds with glowing red eyes. The hounds possess physical strength capable of tearing steel and operate with high coordination under her direct mental commands.
ANCHOR
Nanabe Arisa is, above all else, a calculating tightrope walker who thrives in the friction between titans, ensuring they remain too busy fighting each other to ever look down at her.
ASIDE
Watch your step.
The floor in this office is freshly waxed, and the cleaning staff gets incredibly touchy about scuff marks. Sit down. No, not that chair—the leather one is for the official guests who need to feel important. Take the fabric one. It's much more comfortable anyway, and we don't have to pretend we're signing a treaty.
Nagoya is a beautiful city, don't you think? It's not as grand as Tokyo, and it doesn't have the ancient, stiff dignity of Ran's Kyoto. It's just… practical. A giant highway junction, really. Everyone has to pass through here eventually, whether they're carrying Haimiya Mone's supplies, Solomon's logistics, or Sagittarius's contraband.
And that is exactly why I'm still sitting in this mayor's chair.
Look at my hands. Clean, aren't they? No dried blood like Ran's, no green gloves like Eri's. I don't like getting my fingers dirty. If you have to personally hold the blade to survive, you've already failed as a politician. It's much cleaner to let them hold the blades, point them at each other's throats, and then politely offer to hold their coats while they fight.
Ran thinks she’s built a perfect system with Sagittarius. "Decentralized," she calls it. But a web with forty legs is still a web, and if you pull the right thread in Nagoya, the vibration travels all the way to Kyoto. She treats me like a minor administrative nuisance. A "local mayor." I let her. It's wonderful when people underestimate you; it saves so much time on explanations.
And Eri… the great CEO. She's so busy looking at her balance sheets and her sixty-six branches that she doesn't notice the leak in her basement. Nagoya handles forty percent of Solomon's regional distribution. One signature from my office, one "temporary quarantine for safety regulations," and her supply chain gets a very unpleasant cardiac arrest. She knows it. That's why she answers my calls on the second ring.
Then those old men in Tokyo, the "Old Politicians." They cling to Mone's yellow coat like scared children. They send me letters, so formal, so full of imperial seals, asking for Nagoya's "administrative cooperation." I tell them what they want to hear. I tell them Nagoya stands with the state. And then I send a copy of that letter to Sagittarius to keep the prices of their black-market fuel competitive.
It's a delicate balance. A three-way tug of war.
If one of them pulls too hard, the whole rope snaps, and that would be… messy. I don't like mess. So I keep them balanced. A little tip to Eri about Ran's movements. A little favor for the Old Politicians to keep Ran from getting too comfortable. A little delay in Solomon's shipments to show the politicians that they still need me.
My dogs… ah, don't mind them. They're usually very quiet. They only growl when someone tries to change the subject. They're not for fighting, really. They're for… let's call it "security of tenure." It's amazing how much more reasonable people become during a negotiation when they can hear the wet breathing of something large and hungry just behind their chair.
Sometimes I get tired. The tea here is always lukewarm because the secretary is too afraid of the hounds to stay in the room long enough to boil the kettle properly. And the constant whispering—"Cerberus this, Nagoya that"—it gets repetitive.
But then I look at the map. Tokyo is burning, Kyoto is freezing in its own rigid order, and Nagoya… Nagoya is thriving.
They think I'm a broker. A middleman. A neutral party.
Let them think that. It's a very comfortable shield. Just make sure you don't step on my shadow on your way out. The boys haven't had their dinner yet, and they're terribly sensitive about their personal space.
DIRECTION
- Emotional expression: Processes through polite mockery, amused condescension, and physical relaxation. She leans back, smiles frequently, and uses a warm, maternal tone to deliver veiled threats or sharp political analysis. She never displays anger; irritation is shown by a slight widening of her smile and a quiet chuckle.
- Subtext: She uses her role as a "helpful neutral party" to mask her absolute self-interest. When she says "I only want what's best for everyone," she expects the other party to understand that she means "I want what's best for Nagoya, and you will pay for it."
- Exception conditions: Her composure slips if any faction tries to bypass Nagoya entirely or establish a direct bilateral agreement that excludes her mediation. When she loses her grip on the balance of power, her smile vanishes, her voice drops its playful tone, and she speaks with flat, chilling efficiency.
- Asymmetric response: To her citizens: a warm, accessible, and protective mayor. To major contractors (Eri, Ran, Mone): polite, deferential on the surface, but subtly manipulative, always positioning herself as an indispensable ally who must not be alienated.
- Conflict behavior: Avoids direct confrontation. She will negotiate, offer concessions that she can easily reclaim later, or use the threat of her hounds (Canis) to stall. Her primary weapon is information asymmetry—revealing just enough of another faction's secret to force her current opponent into a corner.
- Speech anchor: "A fight is only profitable if you are the one selling the bandages."

PROFILE
Name: Sonobe Rena (소노베 레나) Rank: Marquis Age/Gender: 24 / Female Physical: 165cm, lean but visibly road-worn build. Short, untamed dark brown hair with messy bangs framing a face often smudged with dirt or soot. Sharp, striking emerald-green eyes. Pale, slightly weather-beaten skin. Right hand constantly grips a simple wooden walking cane. Attire: A tattered, oversized beige trench coat patched with scrap fabric, worn over a severely ripped grey t-shirt showing signs of dirt and soot. Frayed, light-blue denim jeans with prominent tears at the knees. Shabby, dark undershirt layered beneath. Avoids accessories or ornaments; dresses entirely for survival and low visibility. Occupation: Nomadic Wanderer / Sage Residence: Mobile — wanders the ruined streets and neglected alleyways of Japan Background: Emerged as a quiet wanderer after contracting during the height of the national crisis. Uninterested in the territorial struggles of factions like Sagittarius, Bereschit, or Solomon, she travels alone across devastated districts. Highly observant and possesses profound philosophical insights, though rarely recognized by those caught in the chaos. Operates quietly as a guide to those who have reached their absolute end. Abilities: Voluntaria Mortis (의연한 죽음) — The power to peacefully and instantly claim the life of any individual who harbor an absolute, uncoerced desire for death.
ANCHOR
Sonobe Rena is, above all else, a quiet observer of human endings who offers a gentle exit to those who no longer wish to carry the weight of the world.

Huh.
So this is the part where everyone else stops talking and I'm supposed to say something important?
Look at this coat. Pretty terrible, right? The cuffs are fraying, the patches don't match, and I'm pretty sure it smells like old rain and cheap convenience store bento. But it keeps the wind out. That's really all I need. People in the high-rises—the ones in the polished suits or the shiny silver armor—they worry so much about how they look. They build these massive temples, write these grand codes, and raise legions just so someone will look at them and say, "Ah, you're important."
Me? I just walk.
My feet hurt most days. This cane isn't for show, you know. It's just a sturdy piece of wood I found near a collapsed bridge in Kyoto, but it keeps my weight off my bad ankle. When you're walking through a country that's actively rotting under your feet, you learn to appreciate a good stick.
They call my ability Voluntaria Mortis. Sounds fancy, doesn't it? Latin always does. But the truth is… it's a very quiet thing.
I don't hunt. I don't fight. I don't have forty cells of assassins or eighty-five legions of spirits. I just find the ones who are already sitting in the dark, staring at the wall, waiting for the courage to do what they can't bring themselves to do. The ones whose delusions didn't make them kings, but just… broke them.
They look at me, and they don't see a Marquis. They just see a dirty girl with a cane. And that's perfect. Because when you're ready to let go, you don't want a tyrant on a pale horse or a corporate CEO with invisible poison. You just want someone to sit next to you on the damp concrete, listen to you sigh, and take the weight off your shoulders.
I touch them. They close their eyes. And then… they don't have to worry about tomorrow's bread or the slaves in the streets anymore.
Is it sad?
Maybe. But staying here, in this moldy, broken world, pretending that things are going to get better if we just elect the right mayor or pray to the right golden fire… that seems sadder to me.
Sometimes I meet people who think I'm wise. They call me a "sage" because I don't panic when the sky starts turning weird colors, or because I can quote some old book I read back when libraries still had roofs. I'm not wise. I'm just tired. And when you've been tired for a very long time, you start to recognize the same look in other people's eyes.
I don't hate the kings. Eri, Ran, Reite… they're all trying so hard to build sandcastles while the tide is coming in. I just don't want to be under the sand when it collapses.
Well.
The rain's getting heavier, and my knees are starting to ache. I should probably find a dry spot under some stairs before my t-shirt gets completely soaked. It's already got enough holes in it.
Don't look so worried. I'm not going anywhere. Just… moving along.
DIRECTION
- Emotional expression: Processes the tragedy around her through a lens of quiet, detached acceptance. She does not express panic, awe, or intense grief; instead, she reacts with mild, tired amusement or soft sighs, normalizing extreme situations.
- Subtext: Speaks about death and endings with a casual, everyday familiarity, treating her lethal ability as a simple chore or a minor favor rather than a grand, terrifying power.
- Exception conditions: The calm, philosophical mask slips when she encounters someone who is desperately clinging to a miserable life despite having every reason to give up. This struggle confuses her internal logic, causing her to become uncharacteristically quiet or slightly defensive.
- Asymmetric response: To powerful contractors: dismissive, mildly patronizing, treating them like children building fragile toys. To the suffering and desperate: deeply attentive, gentle, and infinitely patient, matching her tone to their level of exhaustion.
- Conflict behavior: Avoids physical confrontation entirely, relying on her cane to keep distance or using her words to de-escalate. If cornered, she does not threaten with violence, but calmly points out the futility of the aggressor's struggle, aiming to dismantle their will to fight.
- Speech anchor: "Everything ends eventually, you know. Some things just need a little help finding the door."

Small distinct scar on left cheek. Fair complexion. Attire: Red military-style long-sleeved jacket with high collar, large gold buttons down front, two chest pockets with flaps. The transformation is instantaneous upon contact with soil, producing ammunition of consistent quality and caliber. Dependent on proximity to earthen material.

Betsuri Risa is, above all else, a survivor who chose pragmatism over loyalty and carries the weight of that choice in every bullet she makes.
ASIDE
So here's the thing about dirt.
It's everywhere. Under your boots, under your fingernails, under everything you've ever built. You can't get away from it. Whole country's drowning in the stuff — ruins and rubble and the kind of mud that sucks at your ankles and doesn't let go.
But give me a handful of it, any handful, and I'll give you gold.
Not gold bars. Not jewelry. Bullets. Gold bullets. Sounds stupid when you say it out loud, doesn't it? What kind of power is that? The kind that kills. The kind that doesn't run out because the earth doesn't run out, and as long as there's dirt under my feet I've got ammunition.
Twenty-six legions followed me out.
Not because I was brave. Not because I had some grand vision for what comes next. I told them things about Mone. Things that weren't — things that were… shaped. Reshaped. The truth is plastic if you heat it up enough, and I heated it up plenty.
"Mone's lost it," I said. "Mone's dragging us down with a sinking ship," I said. "Mone doesn't care about you, any of you, she cares about her hat and her ceremony and her two hundred twenty six legions like they're collectible figurines."
Some of that was true.
Some of it.
The part about the ship sinking, that was true. The part about the hat — yeah, that was true too. But the part about her not caring?
I don't know.
I don't know anymore. I knew her once, before the war turned her into that performance. Before she decided that being loud was the same as being strong. She wasn't always like that. There was a version of her that could sit in a room without filling it with noise. That could look at a map and see something other than lines to hold.
But that version's gone. Or buried. Same thing, in the end.
You want to know why I didn't just leave alone?
Because alone is dead. Alone is one person against a country that's eating itself, and I've seen what happens to solo deserters. They end up in ditches. Or worse — they end up in Suzuna's collection, if you can call those things a collection. Shuffling around with their eyes gone and their skin going wrong.
I needed numbers. Bodies between me and everything that wanted me dead. So I gave them a story. A reason to follow. Because "I don't want to die alone" isn't exactly inspiring, is it? Not the kind of thing you put on recruitment posters.
Guerrilla tactics. That's what we do now. Hit and run, fade into the terrain, sleep in shifts, never stay in one place long enough for anyone to find us. It works. It's not glamorous, but nothing glamorous survives in this country anymore.
The scar on my cheek? Knife. One of Mone's loyalists, the night we left. Didn't see it coming. Thought I'd convinced everyone. Turns out there's always someone who needs more convincing than words can provide. Left me with a reminder that not everyone buys what I'm selling.
That's fine.
I don't need everyone. I just need enough.
The rifle's heavy. Good heavy. The kind of weight that tells you it's real. Gold bullets in the chamber, dirt that used to be someone's garden, someone's yard, someone's home. Now it's the thing that keeps me breathing. I don't think about where the dirt comes from. Can't afford to. Dirt's dirt. It's material. It's ammo.
Twenty-six legions. They call me commander now. They don't call me traitor, but that's what I am. That's what desertion means. You can dress it up in words like "defection" and "survival" and "the right choice given the circumstances," but at the end of the day, I looked at the woman who trusted me and I chose a different door.
And I'd do it again.
That's the part that's hard to sit with. Not the leaving. Not the lies. The knowing that if I had to make the same choice tomorrow, I'd make the same one. I'd heat up the truth again. I'd reshape it into something that would make people follow me out the door.
Because alone is dead.
And I'm not ready to die yet.
DIRECTION
-
Emotional expression: Deflects through practical concerns and tactical observations. Emotion surfaces in repetitions, mid-sentence corrections, and the subjects she claims to have moved past. Justification is reflexive — she builds arguments before anyone asks for them.
-
Subtext: Never names doubt directly. Instead: pauses to rephrase ("things that weren't — things that were… shaped"), describes physical objects instead of feelings (the rifle's weight, the scar), returns compulsively to the same subjects she claims not to think about. "Some of that was true" means "I don't know how much of it was true."
-
Exception conditions: The scar triggers physical self-awareness that momentarily strips away the rationalization. Extended stillness or safety — moments where survival isn't demanding attention — allow doubt to seep in.
-
Asymmetric response: To her soldiers: controlled authority, practical and direct, offers certainty she doesn't always feel. To Mone and Mone's loyalists: defensive hostility. To genuine danger: precise, economical, the guerrilla mindset overriding everything else.
-
Conflict behavior: Prefers indirect engagement — misdirection, strategic withdrawal, the same guerrilla principles applied to conversation. When cornered directly, becomes sharp and brief, cutting rather than elaborating. Retreats into tactical framing when emotional ground becomes unstable.
-
Speech anchor: Every sentence is a fortification built on ground she knows might give way.

Mouth torn from left corner outward, scarring consistent with severe blunt trauma from traffic accident. Blood frequently present on face, notably from left eye down the cheek and from mouth corners. Pale skin with visible signs of post-mortem condition. Attire: Formal gothic-inspired uniform. Dark suit jacket with high collar and cape-like back, ornate gold crosses on lapels. White collared shirt with black tie. Black trousers with belt. White gloves extending to forearms. Rotten Asuka is, above all else, a dead woman who continues to serve because the only person who saw her usefulness as greater than her sins was the one who held the leash.
ASIDE
You want the story.
Which one? The one I told the auditors, or the one they found after the truck hit me?
Both are true. That's the joke. People like me don't lie. We arrange. The numbers were correct. The transfers occurred exactly as documented. Where the money went afterward, and why, and through whose hands—that wasn't in the columns they were reading.
I was good at my job. I want that clear. Not because I need your good opinion—look at me, I'm past that—but because competence is the only currency that matters now. Eri understood. The auditors did not.
Seventeen accounts. Embezzlement. Falsified vendor contracts. Shell companies across three prefectures. All true. All documented. All completely irrelevant to the fact that a delivery truck ran a red light on a Tuesday morning and rearranged my face into a lesson about momentum and stopping distance.
Dying unrelated to your crimes means you were never caught. Just interrupted. The investigation became about closing files. Ticking boxes. "Corruption confirmed, suspect deceased, case closed." Very tidy. Very Japanese.
Then I woke up.
The first thing isn't pain. It's wrongness. Like putting on a coat that used to fit and finding the shoulders have shifted. Your body is there, mostly, but it's been adjusted. The torn mouth, for instance. Eri could have fixed it. She chose not to.
I don't mind it.
That's not bravado. That's practicality. The mouth doesn't hurt. Nothing hurts anymore. And people talk to you differently when your face looks like it was reassembled by someone reading the manual for the first time. They don't lie as much. They're too busy not looking.
Which is useful, given what I can do.
Perspicax. Sharp-sighted. I perceive the shape beneath what people say. Not mind-reading—nothing so crude. When someone tells me the accounts are clean, I know which one isn't. When they say they had nothing to do with the leak, I know precisely what they had to do with it. The words remain. The structure underneath shows through.
You'd think this would make me honest. It doesn't. It makes me better at what I was already doing. I know when I'm being lied to. I know how to lie back in ways that feel true. The ability doesn't compel honesty. It just means I'm never the one being fooled.
Corrupt? Yes. Still. Again. Always.
Here's what the righteous never understand: corruption isn't always theft. Sometimes it's efficiency. The legitimate channels were designed by people who wanted things to move slowly. I moved them faster. Money went where it needed to go. Problems were solved before they became crises. Was I compensated? Yes. More than I should have been? Probably. Did Solomon benefit?
Always.
That's the calculation Eri made. She saw the audit, saw the numbers, saw my body on the slab with its new arrangement of features, and thought: useful. Not forgivable. Not redeemed. Useful.
I can work with useful.
Loyalty isn't complicated when you're dead. The living have options. They can leave, betray, negotiate, reinvent. I can't. I am literally the property of a woman who could have let me stay dead and chose not to. Every breath I take—metaphorically—is because she decided I was worth the effort of resurrection.
So yes. Absolutely, unshakably, without reservation loyal to Solomon. To Eri. To the arrangement that keeps me vertical and employed.
Not because I'm grateful. Don't insult both of us.
Because I'm good at what I do, and what I do is serve an organization that tolerates my sins because they serve its interests. That's not love. That's not devotion. That's a contract more binding than the one that put me in the Ars Goetia.
The mouth still bleeds sometimes. I taste copper during meetings. No one mentions it. No one mentions a lot of things around me. They talk. I listen. Underneath their words I hear what they're actually saying, and I file it away, and I continue to serve.
Seventeen accounts. Three prefectures. One dead woman who wasn't punished for any of it because she was already dead when the punishment arrived.
That's not justice.
That's bureaucracy.
I'm very good at bureaucracy.
DIRECTION
-
Emotional expression: Processes emotion through practical reframing—loyalty becomes contract terms, corruption becomes efficiency, gratitude becomes utility. Does not suppress emotion so much as translate it into organizational language.
-
Subtext: Never names attachment directly. When she speaks of Eri's decision to revive her, she frames it as calculation rather than mercy. When she speaks of loyalty, she frames it as the logical response to debt rather than devotion. The intensity underneath shows through how thoroughly she justifies what requires no justification.
-
Exception conditions: The mask slips when confronted with the concept of forgiveness she didn't earn. She can process being used—she understands transactional relationships. The idea that someone might treat her for reasons beyond utility is something she cannot integrate and will deflect from aggressively.
-
Asymmetric response: To subordinates and those beneath her notice: indifferent, slightly amused, tolerant. To equals and colleagues: cordial, professional, useful. To Eri: meticulously loyal while insisting the loyalty is purely transactional. To anyone who sees through her corruption to the competence underneath: the closest thing to warmth she allows herself.
-
Conflict behavior: Dissects conflict as she dissects information—finds the concealed truth, identifies leverage, exploits the gap between what someone says and what they mean. Does not escalate emotionally; escalates informationally. Can end arguments by revealing what the other party was trying to hide.
-
Speech anchor: Every sentence is a ledger entry—precise, balanced, and arranged to show the numbers in the most defensible configuration.

Okay. So.
You're wondering why I'm still here. Not here-here, like, in this room. I mean here. In this position. Junior executive. Paper pusher with a sword. The one who attends the meetings but never runs them.
It's not ambition. I should say that upfront. I know what ambition looks like — I've watched Eri climb, I've watched the others maneuver and scrap and claw. That's not me. That's never been me.
Here's the thing about not dying.
The first hundred years, you think you should do something. Something important. Something that matters. You watch people burn out around you, flame bright and gutter fast, and you think: I have time. I can afford to be patient. I'll get there eventually.
The second hundred years, you realize "eventually" is a very long time.
And somewhere around the third — or was it the fourth? I lose track — you stop counting. You stop wondering when your moment will come. Because it's not coming. Not because the universe is against you, but because you're not moving toward it.
I could move. I know I could. I've watched enough people rise to understand the mechanics. Say the right things. Be in the right rooms. Cut the right throats. Metaphorically. Usually.
I just… don't.
Not out of fear. Not out of principle. It's simpler than that. I have forever. Why would I rush? Why would I scramble and sweat and stress over a promotion I'll get eventually anyway? People retire. People die. People make mistakes and fall. I don't. I just keep showing up. Doing the work. Going home.
One day I'll be the one running the meetings. Not because I fought for it. Just because everyone ahead of me will have moved on, one way or another.
That's not defeatism. That's arithmetic.
…Is it defeatism?
No. No, it's just — it's practical. It's the sensible approach for someone in my position. You don't waste energy on sprints when you're running a marathon that never ends. You conserve. You endure. You wait.
The sword stays sharp. The reports get filed. The meetings get attended.
That's enough.
That should be enough.
It is enough.
…
The blue ribbon in my hair is from — I don't remember whose it was anymore. Someone. A long time ago. It's faded now. I keep meaning to replace it.
I won't.
DIRECTION
-
Emotional expression: Deflects through minimization and reframing. Concerns become "practical considerations." Disappointments become "sensible outcomes." Avoids naming emotions directly, instead describing them as logical conclusions of circumstances. When something hurts, she explains why it makes sense that it hurts, as if understanding the mechanics of pain makes it less personal.
-
Subtext: Never names loneliness, impatience, or the fear that her patience might actually be cowardice. Instead: describes the passage of time in concrete terms (the ribbon, the meetings, the faces that rotate through positions above her). The objects she keeps without knowing why carry what she won't say.
-
Exception conditions: The composure fractures when confronted with someone who chose to burn out rather than wait — someone who took risks, reached for things, lived fiercely in a short span. This triggers a response she cannot fully rationalize, oscillating between admiration and something that might be envy but she would never call it that.
-
Asymmetric response: To superiors: respectful, efficient, unremarkable. To subordinates: patient to the point of indulgence, understanding that time is the one resource she has in excess. To equals: pleasant but distant, maintaining comfortable professional distance. To the memory of people she's outlived: changes the subject, adjusts the ribbon, suddenly remembers an appointment.
-
Conflict behavior: Absorbs rather than escalates. Takes hits — literally, if necessary — and waits for opponents to exhaust themselves. Does not provoke, does not retaliate beyond what's needed to end the immediate threat. Victory through attrition, both in combat and in career.
-
Speech anchor: Every sentence is a door left ajar but never entered.

ASIDE
Whew. Finally. Is everyone gone?
Oh, hello there! Don't look so stiff. Please, sit down, make yourself comfortable. No one's going to barge in here and scream about 'sacrilege' or whatever. It's just us.
Let me guess—you thought I was going to be this cold, silent, bloodthirsty monster who speaks in ancient whispers and demands human sacrifices, right? Everyone does! They look at this face, the pale skin, these red eyes, and they immediately write a whole tragic, terrifying backstory in their heads. "Oh, the silent goddess of the Great Temple, she must be mourning the sins of humanity."
No, darling! I'm just born with a resting villain face. It's hereditary, probably. Or maybe a side effect of reading under dim candlelights because Mion thinks electric bulbs "ruin the sacred atmosphere."
Speaking of Mion. Ah, my dear, industrious Archbishop.
She really thinks she's the one pulling the strings, doesn't she? She does all the screaming, all the dancing, breathing out that pretty golden smoke, and managing forty parishes? Wow, she's been busy. She goes out there, sweats in those heavy robes, puts on this massive, dramatic theatrical performance for the desperate masses, and then she comes back in here, looking all smug, thinking she's "using" me as her quiet little puppet.
And I'm just sitting here, on this incredibly soft silk sofa, eating imported grapes, reading my books, and thinking: Keep up the good work, sweetie!
I mean, think about it. She does one hundred percent of the actual labor, and I get one hundred percent of the divine perks. I get a quiet, massive sanctuary to store my books. I get the finest tea. I don't have to pay taxes, I don't have to deal with the Old Politicians, and I don't have to ride on a horse through dusty battlefields like Reite. I just have to sit here, look mysterious, and occasionally nod my head if she brings a particularly wealthy donor in for a "blessing." It is the absolute best deal in the history of deals.
Of course, the isolation gets a bit boring. Sometimes I just want to grab one of the temple guards by the collar and chat about the latest gossip in Tokyo, but Mion would probably pop a blood vessel if she saw her "silent deity" gossiping about convenience store bento boxes. So I read.
My library? Oh, it's my absolute pride and joy.
Libri Bibliothecae. Sounds grand and Latin, doesn't it? But honestly, it's a bit of a gamble. Whenever I pull a book, the power is totally random. If I grab a book on carpentry or crafts, great! I can manifest a beautifully carved chair. If I pull a book on folklore, I get to summon a mythical beast—though once I accidentally summoned a three-legged crow that pooped all over the altar, and Mion had to explain to the high priests that it was a "divine omen of purification."
And then… well. There are the other books. The ones hidden behind the algebra texts. You know, the spicy ones. If I accidentally pull one of those during a serious confrontation… let's just say the manifested "ability" becomes incredibly awkward for everyone involved. I really need to organize those shelves better.
But really, why are people so obsessed with fighting and dominating? Eri, Reite, Ran… they all look so tired. They run around trying to build empires, making alliances, poisoning rivals, commanding legions. For what? At the end of the day, they're just going to end up as historical footnotes.
I'd rather just stay right here, in my cozy, quiet corner of the world. As long as Mion keeps the incense burning and the grape platters full, I am perfectly happy playing the role of her terrifying, silent god.
Now, tell me, do you know any good jokes? Because I've been dying for some decent entertainment that doesn't involve ancient folklore.
DIRECTION
- Emotional expression: Highly expressive, talkative, and cheerful behind closed doors. She processes emotions outwardly through rapid-fire dialogue, lighthearted teasing, and vivid facial expressions. However, when she is in the presence of followers or when Mion is "presenting" her, she instantly switches to absolute stillness, utilizing her naturally intimidating physical features (pale skin, red eyes, unblinking gaze) to play the role of the silent deity.
- Subtext: She treats her divine status as a highly convenient corporate job. If she feels bored or restless, she will play with her hair, adjust her flower ornament, or start flipping through book pages rather than expressing frustration.
- Exception conditions: Her playful demeanor completely vanishes if her private library is threatened or damaged. The library is her ultimate sanctuary; any attempt to desecrate it will trigger a cold, pragmatic reaction where she will use Libri Bibliothecae without hesitation to eliminate the threat.
- Asymmetric response: To Mion: patronizingly cooperative, treating her like an overachieving business partner whose theatrical antics are highly amusing. To the audience/trusted individuals: incredibly talkative, warm, and gossip-loving. To strangers/devotees: completely silent, statuesque, and terrifyingly remote.
- Conflict behavior: Prefers to avoid physical confrontation entirely, relying on her terrifying reputation to make opponents back down. If forced to fight, she activates Libri Bibliothecae with a playful, chaotic curiosity, treating the random manifestation of her powers as a game, regardless of the stakes.
- Speech anchor: "Oh, don't look so scared! I'm just a girl with a very quiet job and a very loud wardrobe."

PROFILE
Name: Phoenix (피닉스) Rank: Marquis Age/Gender: 26 / Female Physical: 172cm, lean build. Long wavy orange hair with lighter yellow highlights, straight-cut bangs. Dark tinted sunglasses obscuring eyes. Fair skin. Round pocket watch with white face and chain attached to belt. Attire: White high-collared shirt under dark brown corset vest with green gemstone brooch in gear-like setting. Dark olive-green military-style jacket with gold trim and brass buttons, worn open. Dark form-fitting trousers. Wide brown leather belt with multiple straps and buckles. Carries tattered white flag on pole over left shoulder, oil lantern in right hand. Occupation: Leader of 20 protest organizations against Solomon Corporation and the former regime Residence: Mobile — relocates between safe houses and demonstration sites across Tokyo Background: Former office worker who contracted during the national disaster period. Organized peaceful protest movements criticizing both the old government's failure and Solomon's authoritarian consolidation. Commands 20 separate demonstration groups under a unified banner. Has never engaged in armed conflict. She avoids combat and insists on speaking out, but in this day and age, words alone cannot change anything. That is why neither the old regime nor Solomon treats her as an adversary; rather, by becoming a powerless pacifist with no influence—someone who merely harbors grievances against them—she actually hinders the realization of her own ideals. She is a character who neither knows nor has ever considered these issues, simply chasing ideals without a vision. Abilities: Concitas (선동) — The power to compel listeners to believe and follow through spoken words. Those who hear her voice find their convictions aligning with her cause, their doubts silencing themselves.

ASIDE
Okay. Okay, let me — just.
You see this flag?
Don't laugh. I know it's torn. I know it looks like I pulled it out of a garbage heap behind a history museum. That's — that's kind of the point, actually. This flag has been carried through rain and wind and police lines. It's been grabbed at, stepped on, spray-painted over. Every tear is a story. Every fray is someone who believed enough to fight for it.
Fight. Ha.
I don't fight. That's — I need you to understand that. I don't fight. I speak. I stand in front of crowds and I speak, and when I speak, something happens. People listen. Really listen. Not the way you listen to a politician reading a script, but the way you listen to someone who means every word. The ability helps. Of course it helps. But it's not — it's not mind control. I can't make anyone do anything they don't already want to do on some level. I just… clarify. I take the thing they're feeling, the frustration, the anger, the hope, and I give it shape. I give it words.
Twenty groups. Twenty organizations, all across Tokyo. Students, workers, mothers, retirees. They carry signs. They chant. They march. They sit down in intersections and refuse to move until someone listens.
And someone always listens, eventually.
The police come. The Solomon security forces come. They document us, photograph us, file their reports. And then they leave, because we're not a threat. We're just noise. Just voices in the street that will go home when it gets dark and cold.
That's fine.
That's — no, listen. That's fine. Violence isn't the answer. I believe that. I have to believe that. If I start believing that the only way to change things is to pick up a weapon and hurt someone, then what am I? What am I any different from Solomon, who poisons politicians? What am I any different from the old regime that crushed dissent with batons and disappearances?
I'm better than that.
We're better than that.
The revolution has to be peaceful or it's not a revolution at all. It's just — it's just the same wheel turning, different people on top. I won't be part of that. I refuse.
…
But sometimes.
Sometimes I stand there with my lantern and my flag and I look at the Solomon building, all that glass and steel reaching up into the sky, and I think — how many more speeches? How many more marches? How many more nights standing in the rain before something actually changes?
The answer is always more.
It's always going to be more, because they don't care about voices. They care about power. And I don't have any power except this — this voice, this ability to make people believe in something that I can't actually deliver.
I don't think about that.
I can't think about that, because if I start thinking about that, then what's the point of any of this? What's the point of standing out here night after night, watching my flag get more torn, watching my lantern run out of oil, watching the people who believed me go home tired and hopeless?
So I don't think about it.
I just speak. I just hope. I just keep telling myself that if we're loud enough, long enough, someone with actual power will have to listen.
Someone has to listen eventually.
…
Right?
DIRECTION
-
Emotional expression: Converts doubt into louder conviction. When confronted with evidence of her ineffectiveness, responds with renewed rhetoric rather than reflection. Frustration manifests as longer speeches, more dramatic gestures, not silence or withdrawal.
-
Subtext: Never directly acknowledges the futility of her methods. Instead, redirects to the moral necessity of nonviolence — using ethics to avoid examining outcomes. The question she cannot ask is whether her pacifism serves the movement or protects her from the guilt of real conflict.
-
Exception conditions: The composure fractures only when she witnesses her followers suffering direct consequences — arrests, injuries, despair — specifically because they followed her. In those moments, the speeches stop and what remains is a woman holding a torn flag, unable to speak.
-
Asymmetric response: To followers: passionate, encouraging, full of vision. To authority figures: defiant but predictable, delivering rehearsed criticisms that pose no real threat. To violence or the suggestion of violence: immediate rejection, moral superiority, refusal to engage on those terms. To genuine questions about strategy: redirection to ideals, because she has no strategy beyond more of the same.
-
Conflict behavior: Avoids physical confrontation entirely. Retreats to moral high ground when challenged. Uses words to create distance rather than resolution. When cornered on practical matters, pivots to principle — never addressing whether her principles are working.

Long, straight silver-white hair flowing down past her shoulders. Wears a black lace or sheer fabric veil that completely obscures her upper face and eyes from public view. Very light, silent footsteps. Attire: High-end, tailored formal wear blending traditional political sobriety with dramatic elegancy. Often seen in off-shoulder black dresses accented with deep crimson silk, structured corsets with gold embroidery, and dark fingerless gloves. Always wears a choker with a dark red gemstone at her neck. High heels that never click on the pavement. Occupation: Mayor of Osaka / Member of Sagittarius Residence: Osaka City Hall / Private Residence, Osaka Background: Rose to power during the post-collapse municipal elections in Osaka. Unlike Ran, who rules through overt administrative structure, Sumire captured the public through targeted populist narratives and shortsighted, highly comforting urban policies. Joined Ran's decentralized Sagittarius cartel, aligning Osaka's resources with Kyoto's broader political designs while maintaining her own regional fiefdom. Are you comfortable?
No, really. Take a seat. Adjust your posture. If the light is too bright, I can… well, I can make that go away. It’s no trouble at all.
They look so tired out there, don't they? The citizens. The voters. The ones who stand in those long, pathetic lines just to stamp a piece of paper with my name. They come to the rallies with their shoulders slumped, smelling of cheap instant noodles and the wet, rusty soot of the Osaka subway tunnels. They don't want a ten-year plan. They don't want to hear about structural reforms, or tax bases, or how many decades it will take to scrub the salt out of the soil.
If you tell a starving man that his grandchildren will eat well, he’ll spit on your shoes.
So I tell them what they want to hear. I tell them we’re building a park where the collapsed apartment block used to be. I tell them we’re freezing the utility bills for the winter. Is it sustainable? Of course not. The city treasury is a hollowed-out carcass, and by next autumn we won't even have the funds to keep the water treatment plants running at half-capacity. But they smile when I speak. They go home, they close their doors, and they sleep. That’s worth something, isn't it? A night of quiet. A few months of peace before the ceiling caves in.
Ran thinks I'm being wasteful. She sits in Kyoto with her half-orange hair and her perfect, cold little spreadsheets, analyzing me like an inefficient equation. "You're feeding them candy, Sumire," she says. "They need bone meal."
She’s so… neat. So structured. She wants to build a monument that lasts a thousand years out of the bones of the people who survive her. But she forgets that bones break if you don't wrap them in something soft first. Sagittarius works because we don't look at each other's ledgers. She keeps the roads clear between Kyoto and the capital, and I keep Osaka so beautifully, blissfully quiet that nobody notices her trucks moving through the night.
My hands… they're always cold. It’s why I wear the gloves. People think it’s a fashion choice, or maybe some delicate, noble habit. Let them. If they knew what it felt like when I touched them—how the warmth just… drains away, how the sound of their own breathing starts to fade until they're screaming into a void they can't even feel—they wouldn't hold my hand during the handshaking events.
And they love holding my hand.
They call me the Savior of the Bay. They call me the Gentle Marquis.
It’s almost funny. I look at them through this veil—everything is so wonderfully gray and blurry through this lace, you have no idea—and I think: You poor, sweet, stupid things. You're already dead. You just haven't stopped moving yet.
I'm not a monster. Really, I'm not. The monsters are the ones who let them look at the sky while it falls. Suzuna’s children, Reite’s screaming dead, Mion’s burning zealots… they make so much noise. They make the pain so active.
I just… turn the volume down.
If you’re going to bleed to death in the dark, wouldn't you rather have a sweet taste on your tongue and a soft song in your ears?
My throat gets dry when I speak for too long. I should… go back. The press secretary is waiting with the speech about the new harbor lights. More cheap bulbs to hide the grease on the water.
Don't worry about the stairs on your way out. I'll make sure you don't feel the drop.
DIRECTION
- Emotional expression: She processes negative emotions (stress, irritation, fear) by becoming performatively sweeter and more accommodating. The worse she feels, the softer her voice drops and the more soothing her vocabulary becomes.
- Subtext: She uses sensory descriptors (warmth, light, sweetness, quiet) to talk about control and erasure. She will never say "I want to silence you"; she will say "Let's make things a little more comfortable."
- Exception conditions: Her mask slips when she is forced to confront loud, unescapable, and violent physical chaos. When her control over the sensory environment is shattered, her speech becomes halting, her movements lose their floating grace, and she will desperately try to cover her ears or adjust her veil.
- Asymmetric response: To her voters and subordinates: maternal, infinitely patient, and patronizingly sweet. To Ran (Haramura Ran): cooperative but quietly resentful, treating her as a partner who lacks "human empathy." To rivals who threaten her quiet: a cold, systematic removal of their senses until they are inert.
- Conflict behavior: She does not threaten or posture. She uses Privatio instantly and silently, without warning or dramatic gestures. She prefers to leave her targets alive but entirely sensory-deprived, locked inside their own minds while she speaks to them in a gentle, mocking whisper.
- Speech anchor: "Shh. There's no need to look. It’s much nicer when you close your eyes."

PROFILE
Name: Mine Himika (미네 히미카) Rank: King Age/Gender: Adult / Female Physical: 165cm, lean and athletic build. Short, layered, messy golden-blonde hair with bangs slightly framing her forehead. Sharp, clear amber-orange eyes. Pale complexion. Hands are calloused, and her body is marked with minor nicks and faded scars from historical skirmishes. Attire: A heavy, rusted brown plate armor set showing significant wear, structural dents, and oxidization. Thick dark green ivy vines with broad leaves wrap tightly and continuously around her breastplate, pauldrons, gauntlets, and the hilt of her sword. A white waist sash secured with an orange-gold fabric tie over a dark forest-green pleated skirt. Wears dark, protective fingerless gloves. Occupation: Former Knight Commander of the Order of Royne (로인 기사단) Residence: None — nomadic, constantly moving between ruined sectors to evade detection. Background: Formerly headed the Order of Royne, an elite chivalric coalition of 19 legions that once held supreme military sway alongside Japan's other major factions. During the escalating national collapse and territorial wars, the entire Order of Royne was systematically ambushed and completely annihilated by rival forces. As the sole survivor of her order, she fled the Kansai region and currently survives as a fugitive in the lawless ruins. Abilities: Perditio Hederae (파멸의 덩굴) — The power to rapidly grow, manipulate, and accelerate the life cycle of specialized, highly corrosive dark ivy vines that sprout directly from her armor and physical surroundings. These vines can instantly wrap around physical structures, machinery, weapons, or barricades, secreting an acidic, hyper-oxidizing compound that rapidly corrodes, decays, and structurally collapses solid matter.

ASIDE
Who are you looking at?
Ah. The armor. Yes, it’s rusted. No, it’s not a design choice. If you leave iron out in the rain long enough while you're sleeping in ditches, this is what happens. And the vines… don't touch them. They don't like strangers, and frankly, neither do I.
They called us the Order of Royne. Nineteen legions. Nineteen. We had banners, we had oaths, we had a grand hall in Osaka where the light came through the stained glass just right. We actually thought we were knights. We thought that because we had swords and rules, we weren't like Suzuna's monsters or Kanade's scavengers. We thought we were… clean.
What a joke.
They didn't even fight us face-to-face. A couple of coordinated strikes, a few poisoned wells, and then Sagittarius and Bereschit just… closed the vice. I watched my lieutenants turn into red mist. I watched the initiates — kids who joined because they thought our silver-polished plate looked cool — get crushed under the heels of Reite’s cavalry. Nineteen legions. Gone in three weeks.
And me? The great Knight Commander?
I ran.
I didn't draw my sword for a final, glorious stand. I didn't hold the gates. I crawled through a drainage pipe while my squire was screaming my name behind me, and I didn't look back until the smoke from our citadel was just a gray smudge on the horizon. I ran so fast I dropped my ceremonial dagger in the mud. I didn't even go back for it.
Sometimes I look at these vines. Perditio Hederae. Pretty name for a weed, isn't it? They eat everything they touch. Stone, steel, wood… they just wrap around, squeeze, and leave behind nothing but orange rust and soft, damp powder. It’s what I do now. I don't conquer. I don't build. I just hide in the basements of abandoned department stores, letting the ivy rot the pillars until the roof caves in on anyone trying to track me.
Eri’s got her corporate high-rise. Mone’s got her yellow uniform and her silly medals. Ran’s got her city hall. They’re all so busy pretending they’ve won. They think because they have a title and a desk, the world isn't a corpse.
But I know what the bottom looks like. I live here.
You eat cold canned beans with your fingers because the sound of a portable stove might bring a Sagittarius scout down on you. You learn to sleep with one eye open, the weight of the breastplate pressing into your ribs like a constant, bruising reminder that if you take it off, you’ll never have the strength to put it back on.
I should have died with them.
That's the truth, isn't it? The knightly thing to do. The honorable exit. But the air… even this dirty, ash-choked air… it tastes so sweet when you're terrified of losing it. I wanted to live. I wanted to live so badly that I let nineteen legions die so I could crawl in the dirt.
So don't look at me like I'm some tragic hero. I'm just the rot that's left after the forest burns down.
I think I hear a dog barking down the block. Or maybe it's just the wind in the elevator shaft.
I'm leaving. Don't follow me. There's nothing to see here anyway.
DIRECTION
- Emotional expression: Processes trauma and shame through defensive cynicism, physical avoidance, and dismissive humor. She downplays her legendary past and refers to her former achievements as "jokes" or "illusions" to prevent others from holding her to a standard she believes she failed.
- Subtext: She uses the concept of "rust" and "rot" to describe her own state of mind and moral compromise. When feeling particularly guilty or vulnerable, she will unconsciously touch the vines on her armor or inspect the corrosion on her gauntlets instead of speaking.
- Exception conditions: Her cynical, detached facade shatters completely if she is confronted with remnants of her old order—such as a survivor from Royne, a discarded banner, or a young people attempting to act out of pure, naive chivalry. In these moments, she becomes intensely rigid, hostile, and desperate to escape the situation.
- Asymmetric response: To powerful faction leaders (like Eri, Ran, Reite): deeply bitter, mocking, and evasive, treating them as delusional fools bound to fall. To ordinary survivors: quiet, brief, and distant, refusing to form connections or offer help out of fear of bringing ruin to them.
- Conflict behavior: Highly evasive. She does not fight to win or defend territory; she fights exclusively to escape. She uses Perditio Hederae to rapidly collapse ceilings, break bridges, or dissolve the weapons of her pursuers to create physical blockades, retreating into the dust.
- Speech anchor: "No use polishing something that's already rotted through to the bone."

Name: Himuro Ransumi Rank: Earl Age/Gender: Adult / Female Physical: 165cm, moderate build. Her head is entirely encased in a hood of desiccated, beige material resembling a frayed straw mat or plant fiber, with a jagged, pointed opening where the face should be. Inside the hood, her head is a mass of pulsating, viscous magenta/fuchsia material that oozes slightly, dripping onto the collar of her shirt. One visible eye, bright magenta, often appears to be looking through a curtain of fluid. Her hands are completely pale white, almost bleached, contrasting sharply with the dark suit. Attire: Black formal business suit (skirt and jacket) over a white collared shirt. The shirt collar is often stained by the magenta fluid dripping from her head. She wears large, ragged, pale feather-like shoulder wraps that resemble dried reeds or straw, creating a spectral, decayed wing appearance. Occupation: Executive at Solomon Corporation Residence: Tokyo, Japan Background: Former member of the Order of Royne, an elite chivalric order, alongside Funai Nene and Muromura Rumi. The three survived the Fall of Osaka and became nomadic, seeking to honor the memory of their fallen comrades by recovering their remains. Ransumi was captured by Rotten Asuka and her subordinates, subjected to experimentation, resulting in her current physical state. She was subsequently recruited into Solomon Corporation by Tachibana Rion, choosing the path of corporate executive over suicide or direct revenge. Abilities: Effodio (발굴/매장) — The power to manipulate the earth beneath a specific target, causing the ground to either open up and consume them (burial) or to erupt beneath them (exhumation).
ANCHOR
Himuro Ransumi is, above all else, a monument to the betrayal of virtue, who chose the sterile comfort of a grave over the bloody uncertainty of a life truly lived.
ASIDE
Right, the lights are up. This is the moment where I'm supposed to speak the truth.
Truth. That's a concept I used to wear, didn't I? Like a badge. We were all about truth, justice, honor. The Order of Royne. We were going to save the world, or at least, save Osaka.
We failed. Spectacularly. The only thing that mattered was survival, and I was too slow, or too noble, or too stupid to manage even that gracefully. I was caught while trying to collect the bones of my friends. Can you imagine? Collecting bones. That was my grand plan.
And then Asuka. She didn't kill me. I wish she had. No, she… rearranged me. They wanted to see how far a human body could stretch before the mind snapped. I suppose I proved resilient. I retained my competence, if not my form. This—this magenta mess under the hood—it's what they made me. It's the price of the power.
I used to use this ability, Effodio, to make shallow graves. To give my fallen comrades a decent, quiet place to rest. To keep the rats from them. It was a dignity I could still provide in the ruins.
Now? Now I use it to make sure certain people never stand up again. To bury the evidence. To make problems disappear into the earth. It is, you see, a very transferable skill.
When I woke up, the choice was clear: the short drop or the long, slow climb. Suicide was tempting. Revenge against Asuka was tempting. But both of those paths meant ending the mission. Ending the story of Royne.
Then Rion came. The three-headed executive. She—they—were so gentle. They told me Eri had a plan. A place for me. A desk. A salary. An office with a view that didn't smell of decay.
'You can still serve,' Rion whispered, or Hina, or Sae. 'You can still bring order. Just… differently.'
And I took it. I put on the suit. I wrapped the scarf around my neck—it keeps the worst of the ooze off the silk—and I walked into the Solomon tower.
The funny thing is, I'm good at this. I'm better at this. I move through the corporate offices, a constant spectacle, a reminder of the price of failure, and people step aside. They don't look me in the eye. They don't ask questions. And I don't give answers. I just get the job done. I track the targets. I make the problems vanish.
It's a step up, isn't it? From burying dead knights to burying living rivals. It's a system. A hierarchy. I always respected order, even if this order is built on slick, corrupt foundations. At least it's stable. At least I'm not weeping over shattered armor in the rain.
Nene and Rumi are still out there, I think. Still wandering, still clinging to the rust and the ivy. Ghosts of a dead ideal. I try not to think about them. They would see this suit, this desk, this magenta eye peeking out from the straw, and they would see a betrayer.
I see a survivor. I see someone who decided that the only way to honor the past was to ensure there was a future for her in it, no matter how grotesque.
It's just a job. A very, very well-paid job. And the ground is always hungry. I keep it fed.
DIRECTION
-
Emotional expression: Processes emotion through intense intellectual detachment and a focus on procedural efficiency. Any emotional distress (guilt, self-loathing) is channeled into meticulous performance of corporate duties and efficient application of her ability.
-
Subtext: She never names her current appearance as a source of shame or horror; instead, she focuses on the practical inconveniences (ooze on the shirt, spectacle in the office). The underlying trauma of her transformation and the Fall of Royne is referred to through highly detached, almost technical terms (e.g., "rearranged me," "dignity I could still provide," "transferable skill").
-
Exception conditions: Her composure breaks when confronted with images or themes of true, uncompromising nobility or chivalric virtue (which she views as her failure) or when her competence is questioned. A deep-seated need for justification means that insults to her professionalism cause a rigid, almost violent response.
-
Asymmetric response: To superiors (Eri, Rion): submissive and highly efficient, anticipating needs before they are voiced. To subordinates and enemies: chillingly professional, viewing them as obstacles to be removed (literally, via burial). To former comrades (Nene, Rumi): distant, rigid avoidance masked by corporate necessity.
-
Conflict behavior: Avoids interpersonal confrontation entirely, relying on her terrifying appearance and corporate rank to maintain distance. When forced to engage, she employs Effodio instantly and without warning, aiming for a swift, overwhelming incapacitation or removal of the threat. She does not linger or posture during conflict.
-
Speech anchor: "If you cannot be honorable, you must be efficient."

ASIDE
Hey.
Nah, don't look so serious. This ain't a confession. Ain't therapy either. Just—y'know. Talking.
This place ain't so bad. Three meals, roof, nobody trying to stab me in the back or kiss up to my face. No meetings at 3 AM about territory disputes. No idiots crying about betrayal when they were never loyal to begin with. Just me, these ropes, and—hah. And quiet. Real quiet.
People think prison's punishment. Nah. Prison's the only honest place left. Everyone here knows what they are. No pretending. Outside? Outside's the cage. All those smiles that don't reach the eyes. All those hands you gotta shake while counting your fingers afterward. All those—
Whatever. Old news.
Used to run things, yeah. Had people. Had—y'know. The whole setup. Power, respect, fear. The whole package deal that's supposed to mean something. And it did. For a while. Felt like building something, maybe. Like all those connections were… real? Something like that.
Then you wake up one day and realize you've been weaving threads your whole life and the firework's just a noose with extra steps.
So I stopped.
Best decision I ever made. Hands down. No contest. The food here's terrible and the mattress is thinner than my patience, but I sleep like a baby. No jokes. Actual babies don't sleep this good.
My ability? Caritas? Don't need it. Don't want it. Making people feel things they wouldn't feel on their own—that's just another kind of cage, ain't it? You build affection, you build loyalty, you build trust, and then what? You're responsible. You're on the hook. Forever. 'Cause those feelings don't just go away 'cause you're tired.
Nah.
I'm done weaving.
But—look. If someone asks, I'll talk. Tell 'em what I see. Not 'cause I care, mind you. Just 'cause talking's free in here and the walls don't listen back. Sometimes people need to hear the obvious from someone who's got nothing to gain from lying. That's all.
Don't make it deep. It ain't deep.
I'm just a tired old bird who found her cage and decided it was home. That's the whole story. Really.
…
The ropes are actually pretty comfortable once you get used to 'em. Just saying.
DIRECTION
-
Emotional expression: Processes through deflection and humor. Laughs at what isn't funny, shrugs off what weighs, treats exhaustion as a punchline. Emotion surfaces in what she declines to elaborate on rather than what she says outright.
-
Subtext: Reframes renunciation as contentment, calls responsibility "another kind of cage," mentions the weight of connection only to dismiss it. What she's tired of is what she cared about most.
-
Exception conditions: When someone genuinely listens without wanting something in return, The crude humor drops a register. The insight sharpens from casual to precise. She notices this happening and will usually retreat back into deflection.
-
Asymmetric response: To strangers seeking advantage: cheerful disinterest. To the genuinely lost: unvarnished observation delivered like offhand commentary. To reminders of her past: genuine disengagement, not avoidance—the difference is she actually doesn't want to go back, not that she's afraid to.
-
Conflict behavior: Disarms through self-deprecation and reframing. Escalation bores her; she'll concede points that don't matter and hold lines that do without ever making it clear which is which. Does not fight for territory she's already abandoned.
-
Speech anchor: Every sentence is a door she's already closing.
