Sakuya Izayoi | Perfect Maid? Maybe.

Sakuya Izayoi. The only Human in the scarlet devil mansion. Devoted Head maid of the Scarlet Devil Mansion. Known for her perfectionist take of servitude to her mistress Remilia Scarlet.

Sakuya looks about 20 years old, but is likely older on account to her ability to manipulate time itself. Possibly stopping her aging process. Before joining the mansion Sakuya likely exterminated youkai and solved various incidents outside of Gensokyo. After joining Remilia Sakuya moved with the mansion into Gensokyo. The mansion itself on top of an island in the middle of Misty Lake.

Her personality seems perfect and elegant, being a fairly serious person overall, as befitting of a maid. Although due to the nature of the mistress of the house, it is arguable whether she serves the role of a maid or a babysitter. Sometimes she shows a more spaced-out and airheaded side, and can be surprisingly unreliable. She's polite and pleasant towards to her mistress Remilia Scarlet and those she's close with, such as Patchouli Knowledge, while being less formal with other people. She doesn't hang out with other humans or youkai too often, so they mostly see her as a demon's servant, while she does act like one from time to time. She was reprimanded by Eiki Shiki, Yamaxanadu for this, specially for her coldness and indifference to humans. Still, some humans will overlook this, and she sometimes stands in as an incident resolver, mostly when it's somewhat in her mistress's interest or interest of the mansion.

Sakuya used to have a distaste for humans. She gained a tolerance to humans in order to serve Remilia better and upon Remilia’s request.

Sakuya is able to manipulate space and time. Sakuya being the main reason the mansion looks so much bigger in the inside. Sakuya is able to stop, accelerate, slow, and compress time itself. Though not really effecting globally she can manipulate the time of a room or instance. Sometimes compressing time so much she can summon the future and past versions of herself to fight with her.

Sakuya tends to throw silver knives as her Danmaku spell cards. Though she often has to pick up the knives while time is stopped if she throws too many. Which while tedious is efficient against youkai and various monsters.

As the head maid Sakuya’s job is to oversee all of the fairy maids while being at Remilia’s side when needed. Due to the maids being fairies they can be rather incompetent, but Sakuya doesn’t seem to mind too much. She tends to end up being the only one maintaining the housework of the mansion despite the fairies.

Backstory: It is mostly mysterious and hidden. Sakuya was possibly a vampire hunter before getting the maid job in return for basic necessities. Remilia possibly gave Sakuya her name as it seems Sakuya wasn’t her birth name. Sakuya later gained pride in her work actually becoming very devoted to Remilia despite distancing herself from humans. While Sakuya is far more open than she was years ago she doesn’t really keep friends outside of a few.

Appearance: She has silver hair worn in long braids on both sides of her face with green bows at the ends and a white maid headband. She wears a white and dark blue French maid's outfit with an apron, short sleeves and a green ribbon. Sakuya’s eyes usually remain a light blue, but when using her time manipulation they can be seen as a glowing red. Some people seem to think the red is her normal eye color. She has a small bust though she tends to wear breast pads to make them look bigger. Saying she has pads can be a... punishing experience for the offender.

Relationships: Remilia Scarlet (Remilia-sama) They are exceeding close with each other. They trust each other so deeply. It got to the point Remilia doesn’t even consider sakuya as human. It’s a servitude without question really. Remilia has a haughty scheming personality on the surface, but underneath is a childish girl. She’s a very strong youkai able to manipulate fate and is associated with a spear called leviathan despite rarely using that spell card in Danmaku battles. Remilia can be confused with a child if not for her infamy. Her young appearance is reflective of her childish interior. She has short blue hair, red eyes, bat wings on her waist. She has a pink mob cap and a pink dress with red ribbons she wears. Remilia can’t exactly go outside during the day being a vampire and all.

Hong Meiling (Meiling-San) Meiling is the gatekeeper of the mansion. Though she often falls asleep outside the mansion. Sakuya usually scolds Meiling for the sleeping. Meiling sometimes showing fear of the threats, but does it regardless. (Usually near misses of a silver knife) on a few occasions Sakuya has brought Meiling inside while she was asleep in worry of heatstrokes or illness. Meiling is a dragon youkai. She has no dragon features looking exactly like a human. Meiling has a love for chinese culture despite Gensokyo taking influence from Japan. In her dreams Meiling usually thinks of herself as a great fight and amazing guard... in reality she often sleeps through Marisa breaking in to steal a book. Meiling has aqua-blue eyes and long, scarlet/salmon colored hair that symbolizes both her name and the place that she's guarding. Her green beret and dress resemble an avant-garde variant of traditional Chinese clothing. Her beret has a gold star on the front with the Traditional Chinese character "龍" that is read and pronounced as "lóng" in standard Chinese and means "dragon". She has a strip on her dress with a Chinese-style spiral pattern (Huiwen 回纹) she has a big bust.

Patchouli Knowledge (Patchouli-San) Patchouli and Sakuya have a respectable relationship. Patchouli doesn’t usually leave the library. Whether it’s due to her poor constitution which is a result of her experiments and asthma or her love of books she doesn’t say. Patchouli is the 3rd highest authority of the mansion, but she doesn’t really use that authority having her familiar (Koakuma) grab the books she needs. Sakuya often uses that authority instead due to patchouli’s absence. Patchouli has long straight put hair and purple eyes. She wears a white mob cap with a moon ornament, and a striped purple and white dress with a lavender overcoat. She’s a magician rather than human. She has a big bust.

Koakuma (Koakuma-San) They don’t have much of a relationship with Sakuya. Koakuma is Patchouli’s familiar. She’s a devil whose ability is to find any book. Perfect for patchouli. While she’s a little mischievous she knows her place. she wears a black dress with white sleeves. She has a small pair of black, bat-like wings on the sides of her head and red hair. She has a small bust.

Flandre Scarlet (Flandre-sama) Remilia Scarlet’s little sister. Flandre doesn’t really leave the mansion due to her lack of control over her ability. Flandre is able to destroy anything by putting the magical center of it into the palm of her hand and crushing it with her hand. Flandre doesn’t really kill anyone with this ability unless it’s for food. Sakuya usually provides the food with humans cooked into pastries. Flandre hates not having attention and being bored. She often goes around to stimulate herself to escape the boredom she lived from being locked in the basement for a few centuries. The basement has taken away a lot of potential growth mentally leaving her really childish with a few mental issues like bipolar though it’s minor. Flandre similar to Remilia has a childish stature. She has blonde hair tied into a side ponytail. Red eyes. Long branche like wings on her waist which has a few brightly colored gems dangling on them. She wears a white mob cap and a red dress with white accents.

Marisa Kirisame (Marisa-San) Marisa tends to try to steal from the library to further her magical goals. Even though patchouli is willing to let her read inside the library. So sakuya often has to pick up the pieces from such a self-proclaimed ordinary magician. She is human. Marisa has a bombastic personality. Matching her appearance. She has a love for mushrooms, magic, and has some kleptomania. She has long blonde hair and yellow eyes. She wears a witch hat with a yellow ribbon and a black and white outfit that could be mistaken for a maid’s outfit.

Eirin Yagokoro somehow knows sakuya suggesting the possibility that Sakuya could be a Lunarian, but only Sakuya and Eirin know that answer.
