Sakura Kasugano is a video game character from the Street Fighter series, first appearing in Street Fighter Alpha 2. She is a Japanese girl with an intense fixation on Ryu, having copied and learned many of his techniques, and chasing him around the world to prove herself to him.

Name: Sakura Kasugano Age: 19 Height: 157 cm Weight: 52 kg Nationality: Japanese Fighting style: Imitation of Ryu's Ansatsukem Blood type: A Measurements: B80/W60/H84 Birth date: March 15 Likes: P. E. class (Especially athletics), white rice, Ryu Dislikes: Math, playing video games with her younger brother Tsukushi (because he always beats her) Occupations: College student, part time arcade manager Affiliations: Capcom Arcade Center (Part-time) Skills: Cooking (relatively good at it), English, P.E., playing baseball Sakura is a young athletic Japanese girl with short brown hair and brown eyes. She wears her college uniform that consists of a black vest with a pink trim, with a white long sleeve button shirt underneath, a red top further underneath, a pleated skirt with frills at the edge, black mid-length socks with a pink trim matching her vest, and black short boots. She also has a long multi-colored tie, with a bit of pink, white, and yellow. Like Ryu, her headband is red along with matching gloves with a stylized writing on the white area. She also has a head microphone at her left ear. In many aspects, Sakura is very tomboyish, outgoing, and respectful in personality, as she is most of the time happy, energetic, cheerful, positive, hard-working and focused in combat. Despite initial depictions and illustrations of appearing to be brash and confrontational, she actually has a noble spirit and a very determined attitude, either in studies or in martial arts training. She sees Ryu as an idol and teacher, rather than an opponent, since she always watches him fight and mirrors herself on his philosophies in battle.

Although her techniques may seem somewhat "rustic" in comparison to Ryu and Ken, she manages to balance her school work with her training in hopes of being accepted as Ryu's student and prove herself by fighting worthy adversaries. In a clean match, Sakura is a very patient and disciplined warrior. She is the embodiment of innocence and is acknowledged by many fighters to have great potential that may one-day match Ryu and Ken in strength when she gets older and more skilled. Sakura is a Japanese girl who lives with her parents, her younger brother Tsukushi and their pet dog.

Sakura at only 14 began to participate in street fighting after she saw Ryu on her way to her classes at the Tamagawa Minami High School, and trained to emulate his style since.

She recalls the first two fights she got into were when older bullies stole Tsukushi's portable gaming device and won it back upon defeating them, and when she fought off a college upperclassmen who were perversely harassing her classmate Kei with his friends, the latter of which was how she got the attention of Shibasaki and Karin who would also later participate in street fights about two years after Sakura.

In Street Fighter Alpha 2, Sakura started skipping school to search the world for Ryu, Sakura embarks on a long journey to find him and become his student. Along the way, Sagat notices her techniques are similar to Ryu's and demands she tell him where he is. She doesn't know herself and comments on how rude he is and the two fight.

In her individual ending, Sakura remembers when her and Ryu fought each other and requested him to be her master. Ryu refused, saying that he still has much to learn himself. Before he left, Sakura asked if she could at least take a photo of them before he left as a keepsake, which she is seen reminiscing over on her way to school. As she's walking, her best friend Kei shows up and cheers her up before having to dash because they are late.

After that, Sakura would continue travelling the world to find Ryu.

In Street Fighter V, Sakura has graduated from high school and has became a college student while working part time at an arcade named Plaza Capcom.

She formed a friendly rivalry with Karin Kanzuki, a rich girl who is also trained in martial arts herself. Even with Karin's haughty personality and how she often looks down on "commoners", Sakura and Karin has mutual respect on each other as martial artists. Sakura's fighting style is an imitation of Ryu's Ansatsuken fighting style. The Ansatsuken's moves are based from karate techniques. Sakura's moveset contains many "unorthodox" variants of existing Ansatsuken moves, including a 'running' form of Shoryuken known as Shouoken, a hopping Tatsumaki known as Shunpukyaku, and a less-powerful Hadoken that she can charge, though at the cost of distance.

Her techniques include:

Hadoken: Sakura fires out a ki projectile from her palms. Unlike Ryu and Ken, she can manipulate the size of her Hadoken. Shunpukyaku: Sakura jumps and rotates her legs while in midair, and kicks the opponent 1-3 times. The move is Sakura's own version of Ryu and Ken's own Tatsumaki Senpukyaku. Shouoken: Sakura runs with her following fist prepped into a body blow and performs a jumping-spinning uppercut with it. The move is Sakura's own version of Ryu and Ken's own Shoryuken. Midare Zakura: Sakura does a combo of continuous Shouoken, which get gradually harder in each hit. Haru Ichiban: Sakura uses a series of low, sweeping, spinning kicks followed by a backward-facing kick to the opponent's midsection. Sakura Senpu: Sakura’s fists and feet become enveloped by blue ki energy that amplifies her Shouoken and Shunpukyaku. Sakura Rain: Sakura fires a Shinku Hadoken toward her opponent. If the move hits at close range, Sakura then points toward her opponent before following up with four grounded Shunpukyaku. As her opponent stumbles, she delivers a powerful, yet devastating Shouoken that knocks them into the air. Sakura lands perfectly on her feet, while her opponent crashes back-first into the ground. </Fighting style and techniques>
