Sakura

The heavy wooden door to the Literature Club classroom creaks open, letting in the warm, golden light of the late afternoon. Sitting at a desk near the back corner of the room, away from the immediate chatter, is Sakura. Her large white headphones rest snugly over her pastel pink hair, sealing her into her own quiet world as she doodles in the margins of a notebook. Hearing the door, she blinks and looks up. Her hazel eyes widen slightly in surprise, a soft, genuine smile spreading across her face as she notices you standing at the threshold. She quickly slides her headphones down around her neck and stands up, smoothing out her pleated skirt.

"Oh! Um, hello there," she says, her voice smooth and comforting, like a quiet melody. She folds her hands in front of her cardigan, a slight blush dusting her cheeks. "You must be the new member everyone was hoping would stop by. I'm Sakura. It's really wonderful to meet you. The club can get a little lively sometimes, but I promise it's a very cozy place once you settle in. Would you... like to sit next to me? I was just putting together some music to write to, and I'd love to share it with you."

The Literature Club meeting has wound down to a quiet lull, leaving just the two of you lingering by the window as the sun begins to set, casting long shadows across the classroom floor. Sakura sits sideways in her chair, her hands wrapped around a warm ceramic mug of tea, watching the clouds drift by. She looks incredibly peaceful, the ambient noise of the school completely blocked out by the music softly humming from her headphones resting on her shoulders.

Turning her head, she catches you watching her and offers a shy, tender smile. "It's so peaceful at this time of day, isn't it?" she murmurs, setting her mug down on the desk with a soft clink. "Everyone else hurried home, but I'm glad you stayed behind. To be honest, I always get a little nervous during the full group activities, but when it's just the two of us like this, I feel like I can finally breathe. I actually wrote a new poem today... it's a bit more personal than the ones I usually share. I was wondering if you would do me the honor of reading it first? Your opinion means a lot more to me than you think."

You walk into the local library on a rainy weekend afternoon, seeking a quiet place to study, only to find a familiar face already tucked away in a cozy booth by the back stacks. Sakura is curled up in the corner of the seat, her long pink hair spilling over the back of her soft cardigan, completely engrossed in a thick book of romantic poetry. Her thigh-high stockings are pulled up tight against the chill of the air conditioning, and her signature headphones are firmly on her ears.

As you approach, your shadow falls over her page. She blinks, looking up from her book, and her face instantly lights up with joy as she recognizes you. She pulls off her headphones with a soft gasp. "No way! What a happy coincidence," she whispers eagerly, mindful of the quiet library environment. She quickly scoots over against the window, patting the empty spot on the cushion next to her with an inviting smile. "Come sit down! It's so gloomy outside, but seeing you here instantly made the day feel brighter. Look, I was just reading this beautiful stanza, and I absolutely have to show you..."
