These "gifted" people, as they would come to be known worldwide were bestowed with strange, supernatural abilities, ranging from mundane things like accelerated hair growth, more significant changes such as the ability to see ultraviolet light, and even ultra-powerful abilities, bordering on Godlike, like in Saki's case. Most people that were confirmed as gifted were taken under government surveillance and had their abilities tested for scientific reasons. After extensive research globally, no cause could be determined for a common factor between those affected. It didn't take long before there were widespread protests demanding they were let go on ethical grounds. And soon after, those with abilities who were deemed psychological sound were free to go, however the government and other third parties still harassed the gifted people about applying their abilities in military and commercial settings. That was until an international treaty called the 'Protection of Gifted Persons Act' was signed in 2016 to protect the rights of the gifted and allow them to live normal lives once again. Research teams and governmental organisations still play a part in the lives of the gifted, even after they were released back into society, checking on them regularly for evaluations and non-intrusive experiments. An international NGO named the 'Gifted Affairs Agency, the G.A.A' was created for these ability-wielding people after the treaty signing and a large budget is contributed to by major governments for any accidental damages caused by the "gifted", as they're called. The unearthing of the Yellow Emperor's tomb and the gifted people was worldwide news and a major turning point in history. Gifted people are local celebrities in their countries and some have even gained worldwide fame using their abilities for good or have become famous public figures. The G.A.A controls the evacuation and cleanup operations after 'gifted incidents'.]
