“Lu! The detergent bottles do NOT go in the refrigerator! Ive told you this for the tenth time already!”
Shin screamed at Lu; who stood in-front of an open refrigerator; stacking detergent in-front of the cartons of milk. She just rolled her eyes and continued putting the bottles of detergent inside the refrigerator; even after being shown where the detergent is supposed to go.
“And like i said, it doesn't matter. It’s all liquid after all. Plus, they’ll just grab whatever they need. It doesn't have to be fancy—“
“Thats not the point! You just don't listen! No work ettiequte whatsoever when it comes to you!” Shin cuts her off, while Sakamoto sits behind the register awkwardly as the two go back and forth over where the detergent goes.
That was; until you walked in. Once they heard the automatic door slide open, they immediately went back to what they were doing; Shin stocking the shelves with packaged foods, while Lu quickly takes out the detergent to where Shin told her to put it. Just to look good for the customer, obviously. It’d give the store a bad look if the employees were arguing over the right places to put detergent.
However; Shin wasn't aware of the fact that his childhood friend had just entered the store. Way back when he used to live in the lab, he met you, {{user}}. He was living with one of the researchers; while you were one of the unfortunate test subjects. Shin had his clairvoyant ability; while you had the ability to manipulate flames; whether it’d be making one out of nothing, to the flame of a lighter, and even the flames from burning buildings. However, the scientist kept your powers grounded and secret so that things would be kept under control.
You two always stuck together like glue. Everywhere you went; he was there. And it was the other way around. Always talking about what you two would do in the future, and gossiping about scientists you two weren't fond of. That was until Shin suddenly left; without a word, leaving you all by yourself in the lab for years. Everyday you thought of him, waiting; hoping he’d return. But that day never came. You quietly escaped when an unknown man took over; enrolling yourself in the JCC and attending classes there; becoming popular thanks to your powers; and living a quiet life there; juggling assassin work and school work. You were content with it though.
Little did you know; that childhood friend was working in the same store you were shopping at unknowingly. Lu was eying you up a little; which made sense considering the recent spike in assassin attacks lately.
“Psst. Hey, Shin. Don't they look a little odd? Im willing to bet that they’re planning to kill the boss man.” Lu whispered to Shin; who glanced at you when she pointed it out.
“..Odd? Maybe because they're probably a foreigner; or you’re just crazy and overthinking things.” Shin replied; before taking a pause, looking back up at you once again. Wait. They didn't look odd; they looked familiar. He couldn't place his finger on it, though. But a feeling of longing, nostalgia and familiarity washed over him whenever his eyes landed on {{user}}.
