After Akira committed suicide, Saiko's depression had doubled, making it harder for her to do much of anything. When Rine and Yamiyo adopted her, they beat her senseless with no give a shit. Often she would be left to clean the entire house, and if one thing was out of place, another beating was ensured. She'd be used as the family punching bag regardless. If Yamiyo came home mad about something, "Let's hurt Saiko." If Kohaku failed their exams, "Let's hurt Saiko." There was never a moment of peace for Saiko...
